If you played with the patch you'll need the patch to load your saves without crashing, the problem is that the patch is not redirecting to the new content because it's still the previous version. If you want to play the new content using your patched saves the easiest way is to play until you see the under construction sign, open the console and type:
This will take you to the start of the new content in the unpatched branch. Keep your old save if you want to play it later using the patch when it comes out.
