After just playing the introduction I find myself convinced that this will become an outstanding game.
The first thing that impressed me was the quality of the the character models. While the girls are very beautiful, they are uncommonly realistic and original at the same time. The renders are top notch with superb detail, organic positioning, lighting and composition; and that soft granular filter (maybe related to the "low" resolution?) makes the characters look more human than in any 3Dcg I've seen before.
In regards of the narrative, I must confess that at the beginning I felt that it was too slow because of the long, yet fantastically written, dialogues. But when the erotic/porn elements began to seamlessly slip in and integrate with the plot and character developments, I realized that Gates Motel was turning me on much more than most other porn games even without displaying my favorite fetishes or actually going hardcore yet. Beyond being a visually stunning porn game, Gates Motel also has the qualities of a well written erotic literature: believable characters, credible situations, slow build up and the mentioned great integration of the pornographic elements.
The porn we've seen so far is also very alluring o me. It manages to feel extremely dirty, natural and believable at the same time, while the above par writing and the skillful positioning and display of the characters is something we don't normally see in a game but in a professional movie. I like the idea of seeing hardcore porn scenes in dreams until these can really happen in the game's reality.
Considering all the listed fetishes in the patreon page, I think if the dev manages to successfully combine the planned sand-boxing elements with the current lengthy and detailed scenes and on top of that gives us meaningful and generous choices in regards of how we build relationships with the love interests, this will become the perfect game.

Why I think it takes place in the USA? The combination of Western / white people with an English surname driving around for hours in a desert-like landscape. That can be USA, or maybe South Africa / Namibia. But the design for the motel (and the concept of a motel in the first place) screams USA to me. Further, the name and setting references to the Bates Motel, which also takes place in the USA. But most importantly is that my impression (that this takes place in the USA) was never challenged in the game.
Fair enough regarding the car model... Maybe it's just wishful thinking...

I couldn't agree more. Which is why I made so many of the same points, shortly after the game was released.
It's so refreshing to see that I'm not the only long-winded bastard around here and so passionate about a game that truly deserves it.

But it's fictitious country. In fictitious period of time.
That landscape is just a random HDRI image that I could find with camera in the middle of the road. Bates Motel is just a suitable setting for some crazy shit.
