LOL.
Random exams still need to be thoroughly tested. There are so many possible outcomes that sometimes it's very hard to find them all. For example there was about a 3% probability of catching a bug where an adult female (number 8 on a D12 roll) was to get a Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (number 40 on a D60 roll). Well, someone caught that, I could never met the bug for the laws of probability at all! :D
I can only imagine.
IMO those random encounters doesn't impact much on the gameplay and attempting to fix everything now, will be too much work.
I think the development time would be better placed at fixing scripted encounters and adding more content.
An idea to collect data could be. At your patron page ask to all your contributors to send a list of found bugs only for scripted events, then you place them on a to do list, once you acquire a decent amount of bugs, you can dedicate the time to fix them. I suppose this will be more efficient than trying to fix as people keep reporting, since it will change the focus of development constantly.
Maybe also this forum could use an edit on the OP. With a e-mail that you create to send bug reports only?

Just an idea.

No, that's not true. There are many forms of autism (which is not an illness "per-se" but it is better described as "autism spectrum disorder"). Many people affected by ASD can have conversations and live a normal life as well, yet they got the disorder.
I mean, it's so hard to find an autistic that won't give away, based on the body language, eye contact, vocal pattern, awareness of surrounding, control of stress.
Based on the encounter, he seemed pretty normal, but I've to assume that's the engine limitations.

You sure she wasn't sent by Mr. Xuan? In that case, based on your dealings with him, you might get just 50$ from a patient regardless of the outcome.
Nah I haven't talked with Xuan.
I just go to the office normaly clicked on "perform next exam in the line" She showed up without schedule, the nurse toke pitty when saw she had been beaten and let her in.
Then I did everything pretty much that would earn points. I haven't asked all the question, maybe that's why I should've earned 450$, but in practice I did only 50$.

Those are interesting ideas. I can safely tell you that development on GP won't be halted after the 1.0 release, quite the opposite in fact. While I will focus on other projects I hope you'll enjoy (both adult/porn ones and not), GP will keep being updated with new situations, and your suggestion is quite nice in fact ;)
There's so much that can be done. Just imagine, a patient come complaining about abdominal pain, then the doctor diagnostic it as cancer, he will also say this in a very advanced stage and the patient only has a couple weeks left.
He'll incentive the patient to call to the parents to say the fare well. And when he's broken, he can say "oops, my bad, it was a mistake, you're probably fine"
Maybe even apply a inflamatory injection or a little bit adrenaline? Just to make it a little bit more real?

Could also have all sorts of twisted parnership as well.
Such as getting patients from insurance because you'll be offering bare minimal exams, in order to cut the costs. Maybe even doing things with wrong tools/poorly adaptations, poor hygiene, etc.
Parthership with funenary... Prescribing unneded/expensive medication in order to get some commission from it.

So many possibilities...

It's already like that on the Steam Forums:

There's a "Reported bugs" topic:

The problem is that players do not report bugs, especially Patrons (I don't know why), so I rely on the same 5-6 players that actually report them (I'm about to have a real tester in my team, an user in this forum that is, but as with everything I simply don't have the time to arrange just about everything :(

You can see that most bug reports state "None reported" for this very reason: it isn't a bug-free game, but right now I have no open bug reports to manage.

That and the scripting limitations. Having a random chance within a random chance where every patient with "autism" or even "broken bones" etc. is different from each other would be a HUGE feature, but it is more likely done by a team of developers (remember I'm basically working alone on this one) and I need to set a deadline to complete the game, or else it will always be "Alpha" and tagged as "Milking project for patrons" like so many other games.

I had to draw a line and say: "That's it, that's all the game will be able to do" before moving onto something else. Of course the game will receive updates for many, many years to come, some maybe in form of DLC, but I need to say to players: "Ok, this is the core game, and it's complete. Have fun with it."

No, it doesn't work like that. Can you send me a save you made just before earning the 50$ so I can check that out? You can attach the save here or send it to bugs[at]brunimultimedia.com
Thanks!

Indeed, but look at the previous quote to know why that is difficult to achieve in the current way of development.
Many features will be added in time (an insurance-based mini-game to accept patients is already planned before Beta hits), but I need to draw a line and say "the game's completed" sooner or later. Other features will be available in time, I promise you that.

General Practitioner is not only my first project in the industry, it is also the game that made it possible for me to actually WORK in the industry! That's why it will always be in my heart, and players will enjoy every update I will release, for free or not, because they would all be made with as much passion and love for the project I'm capable of putting into it, for many years to come and without "milking patrons" at all!

If I'd guess, some patrons only play after several versions release, while also not willing to restart the game.
Or maybe they just don't want to deal with the hassle of reporting themselves.

I'd expect some to fit these groups, but not all. Anyhow, it's how it's.
Maybe asking them how it would make them more willingly to report could help? Still I wouldn't worry so much about it, the scripted events were finite, eventually you'll iron them out completely.
The only real problem would be the random encounters, but that's an issue for another time, me thinks.

That's part of the challenge of being a 1 man team dev. You have to program, write the story, administrate your resources, come with the game elements, see what it works and what doesn't, change stuff if necessary...

Maybe there could be a different solution for these random patients... If they were sent only to the hired staff and PC could only watch at distance and have a quick overview about the case? That is, assuming you haven't found a solution for the random triggers, because it's sort of immersion breaking. Maybe something else differently.

Maybe this could be done in a whole new game instead, so you would have more time, resources to make it happen.
More importantly could make a completely new game mechanics directly towards a scrub doctor. Otherwise you'll be developing 2 games in one. Besides, I don't know how Steam would react to such a game. They've some contradictory reactions from time to time.

Well, there was one adult game, which got suspended by a staff member.
They didn't explained why (for what he said) nor gave a previously warning, they just suspended his game, from the store page.

After a while from back and fort conversations he did managed to unlock his game. I don't remember the fetish list of content from game, only it was an adult porn type. It was made by a japanese dev.

The dev said, it was probably 'a social warrior.'
IDK, if a game can get suspended at will, by their staff members (and taking in account how big steam is, and how many staff members they do have), I'd take moral devious games with a grain of salt.
Still though, this project could totally be viable both from patreon and maybe kickstarter (haven't read their policy guide lines).

As for your current project, I think it should be totally ok for Steam. It's really not that nasty at all.

Steam changed its policy over time. My game has already been approved by a very nice staff member who helped me a lot to setup the Steam store for both my games (even The Coroner Saga).

As strange as it might sound I'm having more issues with Patreon than with Steam over General Practitioner.

This isn't a surprise. The Patreon folks have a real bug up their asses regarding porn games containing minors. I guess they live in terrible fear that the FBI will raid them using the excuse of facilitating under-18 porn and/or have their PayPal access terminated. GP expressly avoids nude minors, but it's technically a porn game that just happens to also have minors in it, and even the innocent touching of minors in their genitals during a medical exam is probably enough to make some puritanical types nervous (despite not actually showing said touching, only mentioning it -- briefly -- in text).

I don't get patreon either. Some were punished for incest, others get a free passage.
There are some devs which allow to the player describe the character family link and it's completely acceptable. There's a dev which even spelled "this not daugher, do not call that" Which is a obvious irony against patreon's anti incest policy.

IIRC I seen some games with loli from patreon, with the excuse they're a sort of being with thousands of years... (which look just like a kid)
There certaintly is characters written described as under age with a lot of sexual content as well.
As a dev it's something good to avoid there, however their consistency of punishement makes no sense. Infact it's all BS in the end of the day.

0.0.24 will feature many events involving Claudia and the doctor's romance with her.

Today we're going to show you a few screenshots of one of those events: the birthday dinner. Claudia is born on February and she wants to have dinner with you for the occasion! Everything's settled and this can be an opportunity to spend some time with her!

Depending on your previous choices, you can dine with her like a brother/cousin (and your mother will join you in that case), like a friend (Bob and Alex will join you in that case) and finally as a love partner (Alex will join you alone).

During the event you will have a conversation with the characters who are attending it, and your choices will again have consequences in your relationship with Claudia from that point forward.

Conversation between you and Alex will change depending on your relationship with her mother, for example, while Bob might not like you sharing his family's secrets with his daughter.

Your mother, on the other hand, might like you sorting everything out with Claudia in the first place, and your choices during the "Christmas' Eve's party at Claudia's" will play their role in conversations with her as well.

General Practitioner is a game where choices really matter, not only while examining a patient and trying to save his life, but also when your (private) life's at stake.

What are YOU going to do? What will be the outcome of your relationship with Claudia?

Play 0.0.24 and you'll find out!

10$+ patrons will play the update 25 days earlier than other players, so grab your 0.0.24 download before the end of March and support the game!

I'm having trouble. Every time I buy something online, and close the pc, I always jump back to the online section even if I save somewhere else. So whenever I load my save, it brings me back to the online screen.

Here's my save file:

That's a very old bug which has been fixed a long time ago. You can find the fix in the first post or by scrolling down the latest 2 pages of the thread. Fix you need is #9.

Got it working thanks.

Great game, and I'm glad you are still continuing it after such a long time.

I remember a year ago or two, that you said you will finish it soon, so it's nice that you changed your mind and are continuing it.

I never changed my mind about it. It was always meant to become a full game with 96 exams and story arcs as well. The final release was due in 2020 but I think I can manage to release it on December 2019 ;)

No, you do not need to restart. The fix works. Did you apply it correctly? You must remove all .rpy files that have the same name as the .rpyc files in the patch, otherwise the game will regenerate a new .rpyc from the old (defective) .rpy and overwrite the fix.
