This is a recent game for me, and so I'll get the most obvious out of the way and say the art is the shining beacon of it. It's really clean and well done and it is this, almost single handedly that will make me keep this developer on watch. If they managed to bump the art to have animated scenes, it would be curtain call.
The story however, is what seemed head scratching at moments. Please note that spoilers now follow below.
The MC starts by conceding that he and his girlfriend Mia don't really do much of the sexy times, but all of a sudden, likely due to the fact they'll be long distance, she starts to explode into the real her. A crazy nympho that seemingly loves it all. Now, there pretends to be a degree of player agency, as in, the illusion of at the very least, response. Note, the illusion of it. You don't have it. at one point you can tell Gianni to stop clearly grabbing Mia's ass, to then catch him at her house, catch her come out in lingerie that she is clearly wearing for him, have the option to tell her to change or not, only to then get groped and rubbed under the table and your character enters 'forced naivety' in order to continue to allow the plot to move forward. If she feels stupid to the point of trying to tell him to leave, if she feels guilty to the point of getting up from the table and changing herself if you didn't tell her to. Why in the hell, for plot sake, would she act out of character and sit beside HIM at the table. It's like she's aware she's supposed to be in an NTR and that she isn't a character with desires, likes, dislikes, etc. And this pervades the story and characters all over.
Why does the MC seemingly go out of character in order for this known fact Mia is cheating to go on? What is the end game, the climax supposed to even be? For the MC, it seems to find out if she's cheating or not, whether this relationship is worth keeping or not. But her being a cheater is outright evident and thus I found myself consistently looking around for a wrap it up box. Case closed, mission success. Tell her off, possibly hook up with Riley and/or move on. The thing is, is that even though that is literally the synopsis, thus is clear to us as the reader. The issue is, we have no different view point of the situations than the MC, we have no extra information he doesn't have. So he equally has all the glaring, blatantly obvious evidence of her cheating that his forced stupidity and out of character responses/reactions don't make sense except to further continue the story. This is even more astounding taking in the fact he is actively looking and suspecting she is cheating, so it's not naivety, it's forced character stupidity. It was obvious from the MC standpoint that Mia and E-girl are the same person. Proof of this braindead aspect? He can look at her and not see remotely any resemblance to her and Mia, but he can see resemblance in Gianni's dick? He has to not realize something that would clearly make sense to him otherwise the story ends. Mia calls winded and out of breath, clearly getting her pussy played with, the MC, who suspects foul play thinks she's jogging? The MC, who had an option to play with Mia in the changing room, then later sees her in the changing room but she won't let him in at all. Why not force his way in like before? Oh, it's because it is utterly obvious that Gianni is in there fingering her so time for the MC to fall out of character and go stupid so this train chugs along, because this ends if he just opens the curtain to find Gianni with two in the pink and one in the stink. And he isn't the only one, as stated above, Mia herself goes through these nonsensical back and forths of character lapsing that makes no sense for her establishment as a character. Why even go through the whole 'this is wrong' stage, up to avoiding and not talking to Gianni, only to what? Remember she was in an NTR game so jump back to the script because the story ends if she holds onto that guilt of cheating and stays faithful. This pervades everything, and I'm just not a person that can shut off my brain to enjoy my entertainment intake.
The MC has undertones outside of his suddenly meek reactions to Riley, that he would actually stand up and stay how he feels about something. He gets angry, he calls Mia out. And I feel like these aspects were really well done. Deciding whether to just cum or stop her and talk about it, great! (even if it did amount to nothing because the scene happens anyway). He stands his ground if he doesn't like it. He asks questions even if they're tough things to ask. He is actively suspicious and looking for signs of cheating and yet the story continues as if these things are only obvious to us the reader. So, opinion insert here, but I felt like this would have flowed better on the story side if the MC was fairly strong willed, and it is someone else who is bringing these actions to his attention as he trusts Mia so much. Even in these situations, it would make sense for him to trust her. In this current aspect, it makes no sense for those moments he yells 'Mia wouldn't do that!' you factually saw Gianni grab her tits or ass, and she explains it away in ok fashion. aka, she's fine with him touching her sexually. She says this To.your.face. So why are you suddenly stupid and denying that when you are looking for evidence of her cheating? You can't be looking for it to just be naïve when it appears... Another aspect would have just been to make any of the NTR aspects happen as the MC leaves or is sleep and we the player sees it and thus we have this information of Mia's actions and he doesn't. Let's use the wake up scene to her masturbating thinking of a big dick. The MC could drift off but we still see the scene. We now have info he doesn't, so his faith in her is understandable and realistic. This is why I think, even though NTR is NTR, that it's best when operating as an avoidable punishment selection system. IE, NTR is akin to porn Dark Souls. I would have loved dialogue choices that show just how much you might have been paying attention to scenes and the surroundings and thus lacking this pushed you further into the NTR/Cheating. A degree of blackmail would have even worked here, where Riley, who clearly likes the MC but is going about it in ways a retard would be proud of, could have finally succeeded in a tease that resorts as blackmail and on the other side of the coin, it's the same for Mia and Gianni.
Now, while all of that is true, ultimately, it starts to trend towards the MC getting everything if things turn out or play right, the last update would be needed to see if this is true. Ultimately, my disappointment is only high because I actually liked this and the characters, I just didn't like the inconsistency and drop in their shown actions in order to push the plot along. It just seems like this would have ended abruptly unless people when Harry Potter memory erased mode. I saw in other responses the Dev plans to work on a harem game. I'll keep my eyes open for that.
Cheers, and thanks for the experience! Look forward to the future projects!
