This one i'm cautiously optimistic about.

Seems like I can make her a lesbian which means no dick in my porn and that makes me a happy perv.

Also the plot sounds far better than BB.

Looking forward to see how this one goes.

While DRM may not be the answer, it will be an interesting experiment to watch how an experienced developer handles this.

As for me, I'll be waiting for an offline version before I can decide to financially back it.
You gave the answer right there buddy. You call it an interesting experience but won't support it before it moves to an offline version.
Personally I do support it, still, but I want the DRM to go away.

Patreon, where the developer counts on our support is not the only way; he has the team and he has the money.
If he doesn't like the concept of Patreon and similar platforms, he can pull out of it, create a small gaming company, make a complete game within 6-7 months and start selling it as a game developer like those studios that make and sell Nukige. Or Sex and Glory etc.
When I donate money so that he can get paid as the project is being developed without any guarantee that it will finish etc, I want at least the developer to show some damn trust. We the patrons take all the risk here.
If the game doesn't make enough money, he can pull out and abandon it. Those other companies and sites that sell porn games put in the hours first and then they hope to get the money. If their game flops, they lose the hours and money invested.
We the patrons shield him from this risk. He should show some gratitude.

Roadmap

We've decided to make our roadmap public so you can keep track of our development process and see what's already done, what we're working on and what's on our to do list.

Since we have several people on our team, some things are done in parallel. This means the roadmap is unordered list, we're not going to stress about checking things in this particular order.

Game architecture.

Basic components (server-side).

Basic NPC behavior logic (server-side).

Interface design.

Modeling and rendering Kate's house: living room, Kate's bedroom, bathroom, backyard, hall.

Modeling Kate, Julia, father, mother, brother and college principal.

Designing login interface.

Designing inventory and containers interface.

Rendering Kate's and Julia's clothes for breakfast, cooking, showering, taking a bath, watching TV, relaxing on bed, Julia using her notebook, sunbathing in the backyard, relaxing in the minipool.

Designing a wardrobe for Kate.

Rendering images for intro.

First dialogs with Julia.

First basic events.

Translation of aforementioned dialogs and events in English.

Adding support for multiple languages.

Creating a client for the game (There was a whole bunch of stuff in here, but let's condense it into one point since it's already done anyway).

Making sure our client-server architecture actually works :)

Realization of missing events in the game. TV, shower and sleeping already have graphics but still need to be implemented.

Adding wardrobe.

Designing main menu.

Designing settings menu.

Adding various settings into the game: font size, automatic text speed, etc.

Loading bar to show update progress for downloading updates.

Android, OS X and Linux clients.

Designing achievements menu.

Designing crafting menu (just cooking for now).

Designing city map.

Adding automatic saves during sleeping.

Adding main menu.

Modeling college:

  • 3 halls
  • school gym
  • pool
  • 2 locker rooms (M/F)
  • 2 shower rooms (M/F)
  • 2 bathrooms (M/F)
  • classroom
  • principal's office
  • teacher's lounge
Modeling Julia's club:

  • gym room
  • yoga room
  • 2 locker rooms (inc. shower rooms)
  • receptions
  • Kate's office
Modeling sportswear shop.

Modeling clothing shop.

Designing a menu for buying things in shops.

Modeling cafe.

New events with Julia and Kate at their house.

Adding integration tests to reduce amount of regression issues.

Creating basic NPCs:

  • eleven students
  • college nurse
  • PE teacher
  • three teachers for other classes
Working on college uniforms for NPCs:

  • everyday uniform
  • sportswear (two types)
  • basic swimsuits
A series of renders for NPCs all over college in different uniforms.

NPC behavior in college.

Creating academic plan and college schedule.

Basic profiles for all new NPCs.

Dialogs and events for college.

Dialogs for all NPCs: introductions, backstories, hints of future storylines.

New events with NPCs.

Creating a convenient platform for translators.

Modeling more locations:

  • movie theater
  • beach
  • night club
  • park

This being an unordered list also means we can add stuff in any point of the list, be it in the middle of the list or right at the beginning. We also have some points in the back of our heads, but we're not planning to work on them in the immediate future. Adding a male playable character, for example.

P.S. points in bold are already finished

P.P.S. We're going to update this post as we go through the list.

We the patrons shield him from this risk. He should show some gratitude.
And why should he show some gratitude if ppl like you blindly support him regardless of what he does? I stopped supporting him on BB with the 0.6 patch where by poll 3 times in a row ppl wanted content for Ann and he still blue balled everyone. If you want his gratitude or his trust then show him together with other patreons where the line is made that you better not cross.
If you take my money but dont trust me as a supporter then f you and your game and i will keep my money. I as example support Mr. Dots as he doesnt pull shit like that at all and still delivers what his fanbase and patreons ask for.

If you wanna support him thats fine and your decision alone. But the moment he pulls crap like online DRM which puts everyone including patrons under general suspicion of pirating his game the trust is out the window. Either you trust your patreons or you dont. But if you dont then why should we support you as a dev?

And as you say it. If you current patrons shield him from all those risk which brings alot to the table on the patron side wouldnt it be alright or even to say expected to show the same gratitude and trust as a dev towards your fanbase and patrons in the same way?

DS choose to stick with patreon despite the fact they shit all over him and his work. Most patreons decided to stick with him even though many left. But the majority sticks with him.
Instead of showing his thanks he gave just everyone the finger by 4 months of work and presenting almost nothing while others like mr.dots show alot more content in a 0.1 version with a smaller team and less money and is not in suspicion of everyone pirating his game and putting a DRM in place.

I dont wish DS anything bad but if you threat your patrons like shit even back then when i still was a supporter and now top that even more i hardly find arguments to still defend the guy/girl whatever her/his gender is.

PS: Think of it that way. Apparently other devs can use patreon money better and more efficient than DS does and maybe this is how its supposed to be so DS realizes he needs to step up his game in order to be still playing.

Thanks for putting out this roadmap! It reads like a lot of work while exploring new avenues in style and techniques. I must admit that I always admire you guys for trying something different, something against all odds! Though it's got to be a big business in the meanwhile. Lots of competitors were spring up like mushrooms and some of them were able to push the quality of adult games and novels up to a new level. Yes, I loved what you did in the past! Dialogues felt so fucking alive in BB but now? I don't know how to describe them better than as cold as ice! I do miss any facial expression. I don't want to read a booklet with some static background pictures. I want to get sucked into your story.

I think he decided to cut corners on the rendering part and spend more time and money on the DRM system. A very bad decision. Patrons are won by quality and care for your work, not by forcing people to pay to play.

On February 16th on a post named Compromise DS was on about the whole playable male character and said "We will try to add mp in one of the future versions of the game (0.2 or 0.3) and we'll add more functionality to it if players will like it."
I'm taking this as another DS fuck up or lie or whatever you want to call it. Yggalf outlined a lot of things above in his post about DS and different developers which are all true. This pissing competition that yet again DS has got himself into against piracy is a complete waste of time because if someone wants to crack it they will and if someone wanted to troll with him they can go after the server so having the new game online in my eyes is a complete waste of time.

I made a point yesterday that DS should have got his website up and running straight after the review and that ICSTOR has 900 patreons less than DS but has his own website, put a brand new game last month with tons of content in it and still uses patreon to update people on the progress of the development and polls to vote in as well as using discord to communicate with people and to be fair to DS he also does this. BB being the game that made DS as popular as he is unfortunately is dead, abandoned I don't see him going back to it unless shit hits the fan again or by some miracle he decides to do so because just the sheer size of a game he wants to make Glamour into he won't even think about coming back to BB.
Next update for him is big because if doesn't deliver than he could be in trouble.

He's probably already in trouble, is it minor or big, we'll see in the beginning of April. The patron numbers were increasing until the release of the first version, now he's losing patrons everyday again.

IMO these big detailed public posts' main intention are doing damage control rather than informing people or being transparent.

The ppl he is losing Mr.Dots is gaining. The quality of Mr.Dots is sure not as good as DS but i think alot of ppl ignore that and enjoy a rather well written story then slightly better renders.

Actually he's not losing more than a few patrons. It looks more like the end of the month fluctuaction. He might lose them with the new month but for now he's in a quite good shape for a game that's so early in development. Since he gained some new patrons with new version next month should say how many people will stay with him. I suspect he'll lose maybe even 500 and that will be it. Each version should bring more people and his position should be safe. It's really hard to compare renpy VN with unity sandbox as regardless of their actual results Glamour is endlessly more complex than Melody. Sandboxes are worth reviewing maybe after a year of development.

Well if he loses another 500 that means he lost half his patreons in general that would not only be a disaster it would mean ppl like Mr. Dots would gain those numbers while DS loses them. They dont just dissapear into nothingness. Money talks and if this becomes a reality it talks to him a very clear message. "Less complex and more content and faster" or lose even more money.

And its this "endlessly more complex" that broke and still breaks even AAA Game Devs the neck as they simply made the game to big to ever accomplish it they way they wanted it to be. DS is no exception to this mistake many Game Devs to this day make.

If the first game was a sucess the next game needs to be bigger and better. Bigger becomes even more bigger to the point it became so big you are overwhelmed as a dev and cant finish it. You either run out of money or time or in the worst case both.

You can even check his patron site where many ppl are not pleased with either the new dialouge system as they find it boring or mostly the lack of content.

its just sad for me to see how he is castrating himself with his vision instead of starting slow and then build up he goes big from the start and it will if all goes well, wear him out even faster then BB ever could.

More complex doesn't mean he won't be able to create it. It just means that beginning will be much slower than in VN due to a lot of mechanics and choices. Logic says that it's always better to create something good rather than fast and easier. Losing half of his patrons isn't quite bad if you consider that he won't have anything playable for a couple of months. His playerbase is still much bigger than typical dev's and it has tostart growing at some point. Since it already started with first update I would say Glamour can easily achieve financial success in time. Ofc people won't be pleased with many things but he can change and improve them. Seriously, BB was in much worse condition at this point of development.

I love the assumption that we'll jump from DS to Dots.

As much as some people may like Melody there is a character model there bordering ********** and I won't be risking downloading that again.

The only places my money is going is Ptolemy, Veqvil and Philly if not here.

Then again I pulled out of BB quite a long time ago, it's this that's making me think of backing again.

But having a more complex game with all the variables means more and bigger problems when something goes wrong. it can be pulled off not saying it can't be but you won't have anything interesting or playable maybe until 0.9 or 0.10 in my opinion but BB on the other hand you had something by 0.4 and I know the argument will be but Glamour is far more complex than BB but Glamour is no where near interesting as BB was and the 800 patreons that left would probably tell you that as well

In my experience, devs who go the open-world/rpg route do so to disguise the lack of content they produce. They make you grind like there's no tomorrow to see a few pictures a month and call it gameplay time.

Sure a VN is simpler to make, but the drawback is that the lack of content shows (See the Aorrta thread) so it gives the dev less room to cheat the player base.

We'll see how this game goes. I'm sure in the long term (2+years) could be a good game (although the potential grind and DRM is making me doubt that), but devs have to remember that people play games to see hot chicks, not an empty bathroom or school class.

Its not an assumption if DS loses over 900 Patreons and Dots is gaining a similar amount in a short amount of time. I simply dont believe in such coincidences that they have nothing to do with each other.
