I see, thanks for information. I talk about one game (don't know if i can write name of game, but it doesn't matter) which have according patreon more than 10000$, but they basically break rules because in game is zoophilia, rape etc. so i was wondered why is still in patreon.

There are several other sites people can sell there stuff too such as booth, fansly, justforfans but all of them have restrictions similar to the new restrictions on Patreon and tbh due to credit card companies and their rules and do see further restrictions in the future because of all of this can happen in a small timeframe then we I wouldn’t be surprised if any artists decided to wake up and close up shop sooner or later. A lot of artists tend to be annoyed by kemono but to be honest if they decide to retire do to restrictions who will archive their work from the past that’s why I am abit grateful it’s still around because these kinda stuff could happen on a short notice with maximum brutality.
What is those new Patreon restrictions ?

They're not really new. Patreon has just finally given clarification on policies that already existed.
Yeah so it's just as useless for interesting content as it was for years then and probably just as arbitrary so at least nothing new. Prolly have to go japanese or subscribestar adult these days. Although subscribestar still deals with the evangelists that are the american credit card companies.

If you're talking about the one I think you are talking about ... it's not zoophilia from what I understand, but monsters/lycanthropy/alternate races of intelligent beings and not simply animals, so bestiality is skirted because of context. As for non-con, it's not tagged with rape and I've never played, so I can't attest to that.

I would bet that it receives a number of reports, overall, each month and Patreon keeps a close eye on it for compliance. I would also bet more likely than not, eventually, the amount of effort to monitor it due to the number of reports, plus other influences, would mean that it will get removed at some point if it is not further altered. Maybe not this month or next or even next year... but eventually.

Well, "interesting content" is a matter of opinion. If you need a game to have beasty, rape, or other extremes to be interesting, then sure.

I'm currently trying to get my Subscribestar approved. Not because of my games current content, but the amount of requests on patreon/discord I get for incest content is practically forcing me to make the switch

Little bit inefficient don't you think? Why not wait with an alternative as opposed to deleting straight off the bat?
I'll be keeping it up for maybe a month after I make a post about switching to substar. The not-patreon friendly content won't come for a bit, so I still won't be breaking their TOS. I just feel it would be hypocritical of me to continue posting on patreon knowing I am breaking their guidelines, when I've gone on record saying that devs shouldn't do that.

Of course, I still have to actually get my substar approved. Total crap shoot how long that will take.

Do what some do and have a patreon and a subscribestar version.

Yeah if it is easy for your game do that. As much as I dislike Patreon, it is much bigger than subscribestar.
And meh screw not breaking their guidelines, they only follow them arbitrary themselves.

Nah, that still a no-go on patreon. My own integrity is getting in the way :ROFLMAO: Besides, based on the reaction I got from my discord, I won't need to. We all know how popular incest is. I'm sure I'll be taking a (small, given my audience size) financial hit, but my stuff will probably get more popular because of it.

Again, it's about context.

If you are making an adult game that has the point of elevating the sexual gratification of your customers, then it has a high likeliness to be determined as against Patreon's guidelines during a review.

  1. Last I checked at the end of 2023 of the 7,000 adult game developers on Patreon, fewer than 250 earn more than $4,000 per month on Patreon ($50,000 per year - which is slightly higher than the median individual income in the USA). Of those, fewer than 100 earn more than $8,000 per month ($100,000+ per year).

$50,000 per year in the United States is considered above poverty, but is approximately considered an average "living wage" for the US. I understand "big money" is relative to where a person lives, but... still.

Also, Patreon takes between 5% and 12% of the earnings (plus any other fees, such as payment processors fees that are passed through). When Patreon is taking in tens of millions of dollars each year after paying out a quarter million creators on their site across many categories, do people really think $5,000 - $10,000 from one developer is enough for Patreon to turn their heads to the possibility of losing their payment processors because of not following those processor requirements?

  2. Some games get away with it because no one has reported them or people don't understand the guidelines and the developer is actually within the guidelines.

  3. While there may be some variance, Patreon Safety Team staff should have some kind of adherence review on a semi-regular basis in order to keep their jobs. If they are found to be making decisions that are outside of the expectations for the job, they will have to find a new job.

So, no, with few exceptions, the person who is investigating shouldn't make a difference. Again, with developers who are suspended or removed from Patreon as a result of a decision that the developer violated the guidelines - it's not going to be the decision of just one person on the staff. It's either going to be due to multiple reports and verifications either over time or many all at once, obvious major breaches, repeated willful avoidance of coming into compliance, or lack of communication from the developer after Safety Team has referred violations to be remedied.
You forgot about artists, and there are many. For example, Sakimichan makes more than $1 million per year. If I remember correctly Patreon makes about a third of their revenues from porn.
