His subscribestar is nowhere near his patreon page. A lot of people didn't support him there. We don't know if it's a waste of time or not. We(at least most of the people) only look at it from the point of view of satisfying our own taste. If we put ourselves in the developer's place, things are much more difficult. I think patreon is a much better known platform and its future will be brighter there.

There are some devs making good numbers on Substar. Trying to get back lost patrons is like chasing a goose, you may catch him or you may not. The best course of action would be to use other crowfunding platforms. But the main thing is making new updates or people will say your game is dead, you're a milker ... like is happening already.
