Just dl'ing this update, but I think that theory is completely off. Haley's personality is greatly shaped by her mother's indifference, but I don't think her mother's indifference has anything to do with her dad. If Haley had experienced anything of the sort the relationship with her brother developing like it had would be totally different and far less taboo to her. She would also likely be submissive constantly and not just in bed. Plus the way her dad acted at least up until the last update doesn't show any signs of him being that type of father.

In short: I disagree with all of you above and I find this update a good one. I don't see any lameness in the MC, I don't see him being a beta-cuck, I like how the revelation from 0.55 was handled and I find Haley's reaction very plausible and realistic. Also, I don't think we know the whole story with what happened.
Yes it is now somewhat darker. So what? The writing is as good as ever and the story is as interesting as ever with the added moral complexities of how to handle the "Haley was abused and clearly doesn't want to talk about it" and "How to treat the other woman in my life now that I am with Haley?" (With the pornobvious answer: Harem and threesomes! Two white biscuits, chocolate fill)
For some people it was not what they wanted. I don't find it bad.So by some of the replies, I take it the update is bad?
IMO is just that the story now takes a certain shape that is not agreeable with everyone - some people expected something else. Personally, I like it.
And the mother is much colder to Haley.

No, there's definitely a continuity error there. I showed zero interest in Adriana, our only contact was that one dinner that you can't avoid and I turned her down, so I got real confused when Haley started talking about MC as her boy toy. Then on the plane Adriana talks about having 'fun'.

Can you imagine what it would be like for an author of a series of novels to take the critics' opinions to form the basis of his/her storytelling? If I didn't like the first novel of a series, I wouldn't read the rest.
I, for one, like the turn of events and am anxiously waiting for the rest of the story to play out. The author has hooked me. Am I concerned for Haley and what has happened in her early life? Yes.
I'm of a sort that feels the story is more important than the graphics.

Wow, there are so many layers.
Firstly, just because a book starts off good, doesn't mean it will end good. And no one should ever be afraid to voice their opinions regarding the start, middle or end. This is an evolving story. I seriously don't understand how you don't see that.
Secondly, great. You like it. That's nice for you. But just because you like it, it doesn't mean that the opinions of those who don't are not valid, justified or welcome.
Their opinions are just are valid as yours.

A nice update for me. Haley's mistery is just to put some drama in the story and I think her feelings are truthful, so overreacting is not good until the story's final resolution and the mom and Mr. Klaus issues will be resolved. In fact, I'm more curious than worried.
