If they do pull a Melody type of "best ending" bullshit, that's gonna leave a sour taste in a lot of people mouth.

I do think, Melody is a good VN to compare this to, after all both are obviously about a main character (hence the names) and a diverse support cast.

What did we have with Melody? We had in the end three romanceable side characters with their separate endings, which were all quite detailed and included information about Melody's further story and how you're standing with her, plus multiple "Melody" endings, some including side characters (Sophie, Xianne), which are different depending on how you and Melody got along during your time together. (Also, whether the "best" ending really is the best may be open for discussion).

I cannot fathom how this constitutes "Bullshit" - after all, if you're, like the title suggests, focussing on Melody/Haley, your choices should still matter and not all lead to the same finish.

If this VN will end somewhere along those lines, different endings for side characters, different outcomes for the main character depending on decisions made during the game, I for one would not have a sour taste in my mouth.

I think he's complaining that Mr.Dots called one particular ending the "best" ending, even though when he called it that he did say there would be people who like one of the other endings better. Sure enough, the ending with the baby was called the best by many people, even though when Mr.Dots said "best" he meant the ending where Melody became a star.

On these boards? I'd say it's accepted to the point of being near obligatory in these games.

In the case of 'Become a Rock Star', the dev has made it clear that it won't feature incest, yet people come into the thread incest-begging ~75 times a day. It gets annoying, so responses can be testy, but it has less to do with the fetish and more to do with people ignoring what's been explained a couple of thousand times in the thread already.

Because at least one of the devs already put out an extremely solid incest-focused game and this one has been (largely) brilliantly written with siblings who are 1) real, 2) very clearly siblings, and 3) quite obviously in love with each other. This is one of the very rare VNs that drags incest out of its usual role as a mindlessly trangressive sexual fetish and turns it into a narratively authentic story.

I can't speak for anyone else, but that's why I love this one.

The Rock Star incest argument is only annoying if you closely follow the F95 thread for the game. Otherwise it's nonexistent and irrelevant. I'd like to see the sister get laid — and in my dream-canon it's an end-of-game scene with the drummer at a post-gig party, because that's such a wonderfully absurd pairing — but I certainly don't want to see her with her brother. He's got enough balls in the air.

Nobody in Rockstar is against incest, the thing there is the dev has said he won't add incest into his game and never will.

We're sick of people asking for it and repeating ourselves. The dev gave up responding to them months ago.

I think the "same people" stuff also plays a role here. The games on this site feature all kinds of sexual kinks. Some you probably share. Some you don't care about but which won't disturb you. And some you don't have, maybe even find repulsive as a fantasy. And let's be clear about it, they're fantasies.

So people will flock around games which feature their likes and don't feature their dislikes. In an incest/futa/mind control game you will always have incest/futa/mind control fans, thus "rooting for it". In other games not necessarily as much. And in a game like BARS, which isn't about incest but features family, both groups will appear, maybe minus the "incest is the only thing turning me on" crowd. So there some would like it, some wouldn't. Which would be okay, but I see why people get frustrated, especially devs, when a question pops up over and over again. Mostly devs will have an idea of where they're going, what they like to be included in the game, and getting not only requests but repeated demands for something they don't see in their game is annoying.

Side note: also incest fans probably wouldn't be happy with it being included in BARS - when the devs are not behind what they're doing it'd probably turn out to be quite underwhelming. A good game can IMO only come from devs who love what they're giving you themselves.

"Normally people" are against incest in real life. This is a porn site which features all kinds of fantasies. If you think incest is not popular on F95, do a search on the tag and see how many games show up. I did and saw 48 pages of games at 20 games per page. You do the math. That doesn't even count the games that don't specify that tag yet.

Of course a lot of players play non-incest versions of many of these game. But incest remains one of the most popular fetish tags around here. People who do not like that fetish, even in a fantasy, should avoid this game completely. It is not for them. There is no escaping it here.

I suspect that this game has avoided Patreon scrutiny, by not using the tag until it actually happened in the game, which was about a dozen releases in. It remains to be seen whether this game will remain Patreon-trouble-free. Nor do I know if they have plans for what to do if they run afoul of the Patreon police.

Pretty much everything was said about the topic in the answers above. I'm constantly checking the new releases on the site, and if anything, whenever there's a new promising title that doesn't include any love interest called mom/sis/roommate/landlady/landlord etc, people find it refreshing, as there's already a huge amount of games that has the tag with or without patches, unlock codes and whatnots. I guess that's why the BARS fans doesn't mind if the sister (I forgot her name) isn't a reachable love interest, which is a rare thing, because as a thumb rule in adult games, if there's a character in the opposite sex that has a constant presence and isn't ugly as hell, you'll be able to fuck them eventually. I guess it comes down to players enjoying a good supporting character without groped into the harem, rather than them being avid anti-incest believers.

How is it managing to avoid patreons radar and weren't forced to change into Haley being your twin-childhood friend or something? That's a good question, as games with much smaller patreon numbers couldn't pull that off. Probably it has to do with people not being twats to reporting it, and the number of pledges being small enough (by not being in the thousands) to avoid attention.

I am in complete agreement with Cartageno when it come to developers who pander to the players. Let the game thrive or fail based on the developer's vision. High quality games always succeed irrespective of any fetishes they may or not contain, provided the developer sticks with it for the duration.

I am in complete agreement with Cartageno when it come to developers who pander to the players. Let the game thrive or fail based on the developer's vision. High quality games always succeed irrespective of any fetishes they may or not contain, provided the developer sticks with it for the duration.

That as well, though the ones that are loud about wanting certain fetishes included are always a vocal minority. I'd liked if she were an LI as well, just as the most of us I think, and that has more to do with her overall traits that easily earns her the best girl title in my book, rather than wanting incest in it that bad.

I can only half agree with Cartageno, just as in literature, some writers perform better if they have editors and listens to the feedback of their readers, just as several developers could improve based on the things brought up by the community, especially if they are rookies. Waklus was so hell bent on creating a BB clone, that he brought Martin into the fold as an Eric copy that you couldn't avoid, and eventually giving into the playerbase and making it optional or mostly avoidable helped the game a lot. This works vice versa though, pandering on players too much can have negative effects just as well, and could screw up the overall consistency. In these cases, in my opinion it's not about including certain fetishes for the sake of improvement, but that changes that improves the overall quality brings certain fetishes with them. Like in BARS, I do think that making Julia available, because of aforementioned reasons would make the overall experience better to me, but it does have the incest fetish as an increment.
