Original content = original story, original dialogues, original scenes and events. Do you say that a 10KB patch restore all of them and that the game will be the same as it would be if there weren't these patreon rules ? Of course not. It is not like a censhorship in a real japanese porn scene. For some people some name changes (what actually a patch does) is enough but don't say that it restore the original game. For me is not and sometimes also make the game worse making the dialogues a little weird. Maybe there are some exceptions because i have try a limited number of games so far.

I like original games like Melody and not games with forced changes. It is simple i just said what i like and what i don't. I don't try to change the mind of others and sorry for my bad english :)
No problem. Like I said, I'm not here to change people's minds. I haven't changed yours, nor have you, mine.

That really depends on how the developer handles it, some just take the script and replace all the forbidden words leaving nonsensical sentences like "we can't do this, you're my roommate" because they assume people will play with the patch...

Also from a technical point of view it's irrelevant that the patch is 10KB, most patches don't actually contain anything, they're just used as a flag in the script, like "if patch exists say this otherwise say this"

I know I'm going to regret getting back into this, but...

There are games out there which have no patch whatsoever. Instead the developer places choices at the beginning of the game, in particular concerning what kind of relationship the MC has with one or more characters. Landlady, neighbor, boarder, exchange student, close family member of some kind... whatever. Other games straight out ask you at the beginning whether or not you want incest in the game.

So do you play those games, or close them and delete them when confronted by such questions?

By the way, about Mr. Dots, I have been a $20/month supporter for years. When he first ran afoul of the Patreon policies, he tried to circumvent them with a patch. Unfortunately, he was too open about what he was doing, and promoted the patch on his Patreon page. That nearly got him banned for good. So he took Dating My Daughter off Patreon to his own web site, and started developing Melody (a truly magnificent game) to maintain a revenue stream from Patreon. He still sends emails to his Patrons about DMD developments and updates. That doesn't have much relevance to our conversation. Just an FYI, if you didn't know the history already.

Anyone who knows the name of the save folder under appdata? Really would like all devs to rename them so you know which one to remove or not when done with the game.

Walktrough please !!
You can use the site search bar to search just the thread your in for things like a walkthough, but there isn't one I'm afraid.

Edit - Apparently there's a super secret hidden one.

Looking at the two save folders size I was going to say the same as flimflam.

Wasnt today the release date?
According to the yes, and the 20th is the intended release date for all updates. Can't see anything new on the yet though (but we're only halfway though the day where I am).

Has anyone besides me been frustrated by the new search engine? Try searching for 'walkthrough' in a game like Long Live the Princess, and see how many pages you have to plow through. It's over 20. The problem is that there is no longer a way to specify a start date for the current thread, or to sort the results by timestamp. Not even in the so-called 'advanced' search. Also, why is the default search 'everywhere'. Who the hell uses that option? Frustrating as fuck!

It is annoying, searching for a game by name I usually end up using the link from a request thread. If people don't use the search the threads though it'll get even worse, with more requests for the latest (often nonexistent) walkthough added into the results list.

I do use the everywhere search a fair bit though.
