First of all, I love this game. Played it early on over a year ago, and it was great. I recently replayed from the beginning and noticed a few changes (Lin's in-town store scene was gone?), and a bunch of new content.

The only thing I have to say is that all of the new content, particularly the Lin and elves storyline, feels very preachy. Not only that, the content with the college and that purple danger haired girl is just boring and goes on way too long. The game feels like it forgot it's a porn game for most of the new content I've seen. I should be fucking these girls instead of listen to them drone on about "slavery is bad, let's help the slaves" etc etc etc. I don't care that there's an over-arching story, in fact it's kinda interesting, but don't forget it's a porn game too. I can't believe we couldn't even bang any of the naked desert elf clan. There should be at least one porn scene for every one of those side story events, IMO. And hopefully we get to onahole the fairies soon.

Anyways, great job on the game in general. Just my 2c.

If you want porn game, Honey Select is good. This game lets you create women to look like whatever you want and you get to fuck them whenever you want.

But Harem Hotel is an adult visual novel. This literally translates to an adult book with visuals. This has never been primarily a porn game, as it was always my intention to make the characters deep and personal. I have also polled as many players as possible, and they prefer 1 sex scene for every 3 - 4 story events, which has always been my aim. It would look very bad for you to show up to a community of abused naked people to take advantage of their situation, abuse them further, and fuck them. And fairies cannot stretch like onaholes, you would kill them. Instead, it would make more sense for the protagonists to do something heroic for the owl clan to earn a night with them. I'm not saying this is something I would do, I'm just trying to point out that there needs to be story reasons for things, because this is an adult visual novel.

In closing, if you don't want a fairly serious story, you don't have to play HH. And please don't project your ideal game onto other developers. As a consumer, you have the power to move on.

I know what you mean. I myself hope that sometime the 18+ games on video game console could be "true" 18+ games and don't need to hide the sex scene from their adult viewers, but I know better.

And I found your game a lot like a "fuck fest" game. You can come, take some girls for a spin. It is great for this even though it is not the greatest feature. The story and character (and lore) aspect is where its truly shine, but it is rather unique in how it combine this two aspect. You can very much ignore the "fuck fest" component and play the story or, after some point, you could very much ignore the story and only do lend things.

Humans are hypocrites. They condemn others for things they do themselves. If your open minded and admit your consuming porn, or that your having sex (as adult) they point at you like that's something bad and perverted. Just look at the TV shows/films in the US. If there is crime, murder or durg abuse is ok... but dear god, what kind of an uproar is there if they see only an nipple of a female breast for an blink of an eye. I don't get it. Having sex (even the kinkier kind or some fetishes') is far more normal to what a living being should do than killing each other. Even in Europe (where i am from) it is considered a taboo to talk openly about sex/porn and your preferences.

I think it it sad that even in this enlightened times its hard to be open about it. I admit some of the story developments aren't to my liking, but i am the consumer and its your story you tell. If i ever get to a point where i would be annoyed by it i would end reading it and start searching for something new.
And the then i am really glad the way you implemented the BDSM stuff story wise. Cos in 99% of the porn games BDSM is like fucking rape without consent. Like you do it, doing minor stuff building trust with the MC and then going further is the most realistic approach i have seen so far. Ok you don't use save words, but if you do stuff to the girls they don't like the loose some trust in you and probably get mad and you have to show them that you are sorry (ordering gifts online and give it to them)
and even the stuff like edging is implemented in an (for a porn game) realistic way. I admit i would like some more of it even outside the dungeon but i am not in charge of the writing, and so i can say i am looking forward to your writing.

I hope you do not let haters get under your skin. And yeah some of your story is pretty moody but it adds to the atmosphere. At the begining i did not understand why you made Ashley as she is, but as the story continued i have come to like this char a lot. And i could understand why she behaved so in the beginning. I hope that you continue to surprise me in both regards story and porn content.

If it means anything I wish for such a site as well. I don't really come into "porn" games for the porn. Not that the porn aspect of your game is lacking mind you. It definitively isn't. It's simply that there does not seem to be much in terms of quality romance (as in romantic plot) content out there that isn't and isn't also aimed at women or teens or teenage women. And even fewer that isn't just empty romance for the sake of romance. It's like we grown men aren't allowed to be romantic.

Where as you and a few others on this site (although you are the best) actually provide quality romance content combined with good thought provoking and intellectual writing. And that fits both my desire for a good book (which this realistically is) and good romantic escapism from my otherwise dull and lonely life. All the while remaining realistic as opposed to going full chosen one messiah mode or highschool drama. The later of which is more depressing than enjoyable after a certain age.

So yes, there are in fact those of us that came here for the novel and stayed here for the novel.

Speaking of which just in the general field of literature your work has to be applauded. Your writing is just superb managing to perfectly thread the line between serious and lightharted to allow me to think about issues and generally exercise my brain without becoming too heavy and uncomfortable as such works often tend to be. I was rereading The Day of the Triffids the other day an whilst it had the same intellectual effect of making me think at some point I just had to stop because it became too "heavy" for lack of a better word. You don't do that.

And honestly I think that the porn actually helps with that. In fact, maybe it's precisely because you have to intersperse your writing with pornography or the fact that the gameplay format is such that I can just take a break if things get too heavy and do some open world sexy gameplay to "cool off" that allows the issues to not become overbearing whilst at the same time remaining strong enough to provoke thought and discussion. Not many great works of literature allow that.

Anyway, I hope you keep up the good work, finish this as strong as you started it and go on to make many more after that.

Honestly, I don't know why people wouldn't prefer having a decent story before the porn anyways. Isn't it more rewarding to know how a character thinks, their personality, their motivations, their fetishes and sexual gratifications, and their backstory before fucking them? And how realistically the reactions would be to your actions with them? At least in my opinion, it's more of a romance game rather than a fuck-your-brains-out game.

But alas, I'm a (rather histrionic) writer myself, so I'd always welcome spicing up a porn game with it's own world-building. The lore you built is interesting and I am invested in most of the characters. That said, I feel like you calling it "not a porn game" is a little disingenuous, but we can agree to disagree on that.
The "preachy" part wasn't the talk in the college, I admit I didn't skip that because I thought we'd get some interesting lore drops from her. It's the part where she visits Kali and discovers your elf shed. That whole part made me just wish it was over. Again, just an opinion. It seems like the story of you inheriting your grandpa's harem hotel isn't the focus anymore, and it's all about the elves.

Regarding the Owl clan, as you described it 'show up, abuse them, and fuck them' - yes, that would not be a good look, but this is literally a made up world where you can also get a blowjob at a pizza shop while pulling down a sleeping girl's panties and staring at her ass. Where is the line of what's acceptable and what's not? Seems silly that you can't work a consensual sex scene into the Owl clan bits without it seeming like systemic rape.

Anyways, that's neither here nor there, but as a random dude that played the early version of the game compared to this version, there has been a LOT of story and very little lewd to go along with it. You are 100% fair in calling this an adult visual novel, it's just jarring as somebody that didn't see the incremental updates that the first half of the game is loaded up on sex stuff and the most recent additions have basically nothing.

The part about not being a porn game is true, a porn game focuses on the porn, this focuses on the story. The reason it was so loaded up in the early days was simply because there was only a fraction of the story we have now added at the time. The hotel itself wasn't really so much a focal point as it was setup for the true focal point. A way to establish the character to a point where the things that happened later could and that he could do things about those events. He can't go so far as to take down the whole system in one move, that would take an insane amount of resources, but he CAN take much smaller steps that will add up over time ONLY because he has the funding provided by his hotel income.

Getting away with a blowjob at a pizza place is quite a bit different than getting the consent of the Owl Clan, the people working at the pizza place are free and able to consent under Syl'anar law. I'm not even sure the Owl Clan members are able to consent and still be considered willing from a real world standpoint considering how primitive they are, only under Syl'anar law, which only takes into account the fact that they are elves as far as consent goes. If they were enslaved, we could literally rape them, they could literally be shouting for us to stop within earshot of another free person and it would still be considered consented to by Syl'anar law because they don't have free will. The will of their master is their own and his consent is theirs. That also brings up a valid point due to them being free ONLY because they are isolated. The fact that they are full elves alone means that consent is automatic under Syl'anar law because, legally speaking, they are as good as slaves even if they have not been processed as such. MAYBE something can be done once the slavery system falls, I don't know enough to determine that yet.

Skipping an entire chunk of story updates can be quite jarring, especially if one is not watching to see how it develops over time spent not playing. There is a reason behind the weak lewd to story ratio, that's because the game is story driven. It would be a failure as an adult VN if it put anything but the story first, but it does not.
