The problem is that people are trying to communicate through their review in a way that will feel digestible to the reader some time in as little words as possible. So rating the English level, the render quality or how buggy the game is; are all thing everyone can generally agree on. Then the review reader can decide for themselves if those things are red lines for themselves. While I do agree that what the game is making them feel is often left by the wayside it's something much harder to all agree on or that we all live with the same intensity or the same way. The EI thread is a prime example of that. Making it the main point of the review can make them way less useful in most cases. For example a review calling a MC shity for their behavior is talking about how a game made them feel but it's really not useful for many persons. Reviews on the more technical side might not be the most useful to you but they are definitely for most.
Exactly that, the reviews I pay more attention before decide if I try a game or not (after I do a filter myself from the tags and the general info in the OP and maybe a few posts) are mostly on the technical side of things, the gameplay and bugs, how is it visually and sound even though sound has less value for me because in most games I just play my own sound and less important but still important the English level but since I'm not a native English speaker I can handle some poor English and typos (but not atrocious English of course) since mine isn't golden anyway hehe.
Then the middle part that is the narrative, characters and character development, story and plot(s), I value this but sometimes with a grain of salt, even though can give me a general idea if is good or bad or something in between, it also depends on the taste of the reviewer.
Then the part that I value less because it is very subjective are the humor, the drama, how made them feel etc etc I prefer to judge that completely by myself because what makes me laugh or cry of feel something is different from person to person, depends on their age, their background and life experiences and many many more variables. Also I'm eclectic, mostly I prefer a good story and those usually are my favorite AVNs, but sometimes I just wanna play a fuckfest mindless game where I can completely shut off my brain
