The scenario with Syphii the fire spirit seems designed to force unnecessary Mandatory NTR. Which seems very out of place considering the rest of the game is vanilla harem.

what happens (chronologically):
1. MC's team (2 azure spark (level 3) waifus and the MC who is at emerald spark (level 2) but is almost at azure) clash with 1 azure spark (level 3) yaomo. he retreats when he sees his illusion is ineffective on them. A reasonable strategic decision on his part as he is an assassin build (illusion + poison + wind) and seriously outnumbered.
2. later those 3 run across him very blatantly raping a fire elemental girl (Syphii). and decide to just watch without any choice being offered to the player
3. Syphii notices but the yaomo does not. she tracks MC to his home and bonds with the MC and becomes his waifu, providing him with a powerup to fire magic.
4. Syphii insist that she must return to the yaomo's territory in the forest to be his cum bucket because "he will look for her" if she leaves his territory... what? this is despite the fact that he is stuck holding his territory, you are outside his territory, and he is terrible at tracking, and he never found the first waifu which MC saved from him. And its not like his territory is the only place in the world in which a fire spirit might decide to live in... maybe he would even get some introspection about being less forceful towards woman because they can just leave?
5. While you are training to defeat him, Syphii has finally had enough of having her anus destroyed by yaomo. She just cant stand staying at his territory full time and changes her mind about staying with him to avoid suspecion... partially... She decides to only stay with him 4 days a week and spend the other 3 with you instead in your hut. Apparently this somehow makes him LESS likely to find your place compared to just running away and not coming back?

It feels really shitty since she is clearly a love interest.
It is jarring because none of the other girls have such a scenario.
Most importantly this train of logic is completely illogical.
If this was a pure NTR game all the girls would have been in such situations. But no it is only the one and I get the feeling it is meant to be "realistic" depiction of you just not having enough strength to change things?

I mean it could have easy been:
2. CHOOSE in character whether to watch him rape Syphii or intervene. Watch means the current scene plays, intervene will cause him to retreat again (possibly after a short clash)... because again he is horribly outnumbered and does not know your exact strength. While being an assassin type (illusion + wind + poison). You might have a short scuffle with him to gain some knowledge on his skills that will guide you into the same training route as the info Syphii gives.
4. CHOOSE in character whether to tell Syphii to stay with you in your hut where he won't be able to find her (if he has not found the first girl there yet he should not find Syphii either)... OR send her back (current route).
If you choose to not send her back she stays with you permanently and never goes back.

Besides the above which would allow for a non NTR path. I would also suggest altering the scene you walk on to be changed to be the first time he is raping Syphii.
This would make better for BOTH routes. For harem lovers it is self explanatory, but even for the NTR fans it should be far more impactful to stand there and fearfully watch the first time he rapes her instead of the nth time.

Thanks for explaining this, I was wondering what happened after the recent review mentioned NTR. Very bizarre choice to add that out of nowhere with no option to avoid it. I played an earlier version of this game and enjoyed it despite the roughness so that's a bit disappointing. Here's hoping it gets changed I guess.

I don't think a double facepalm is enough facepalms for this.

Even if you insist that this is totally not rape. Then you are still looking at double cheating, which under site definition is NTR.
After you agree to help her kill her rapist "boyfriend" for the explicit purpose of making him stop raping "having enhanced consent lovemaking" with her. She is still "cheating on both of you" for months in game during which both of you "have sex" with her.

disclaimer: I am NOT white knighting here, nor kink shaming. rape fetishism can be quite sexy when done right. Just gotta be honest and accurate on what is happening.

One thing to know when you play the game is that this is a primary wuxia game with romance as a side focus,i talked with the author and he at least at the time didn't plan to have endings where the MC ends with a heroine,instead the relationships are basically being sex friends to duo cultivate and advance faster

It's been a few versions since I played, but the characters seemed to develop a deeper connection than simply "sex friends" from what I remember. Or at the very least are moving in that direction, because at the time it felt pretty much like a harem in the making. I don't know enough about the Wuxia genre to really talk about it tbh but at the end of the day I don't think a lot of players want to watch a love interest get raped (besides the people who are into that.) If we are going to become this martial master, I'd expect some choices along the way to reflect that. Being able to save a girl from being raped by having to fight the would be rapists or something feels like an obvious one to add. Based on the description above of what happens to the fire spirit, it really sounds like a nonsensical NTR route.

I think we just need a clear statement from the dev at this point on what their plans are with this aspect of the game and how it might be changed. Would probably put some some people's minds at ease one way or another.

I'm glad the dev seems open to feedback (and thanks for posting this btw). Harems are probably my favorite element of porn games so I'm a bit biased when I say I'd like to see it, but I don't even need a proper harem path or anything. We can have a bunch of friends with benefits, doesn't matter that much to me. My core problem lies in this whole situation with the fire spirit and how forced it seems. I have no problem with scenes/routes like that being in the game, my gripe is not being able to avoid them. All of this could be solved by just having a choice of intervening before the dude rapes the spirit.

Just how I feel though, don't want to tell a dev how to make their game. I do want to see this game get better, since I think this genre is cool and rather unrepresented in porn games. But at the end of the day I'm going to avoid it if we are forced into things like that. Stuff like that is just not for me.

If you look at these posts dev, I'm curious on what your response to all of this would be!

The QOL updates in question were done after 0.8's initial release (days before we had our discussion). The only new things I added before releasing it publicly were a few content end screens and the skip age check thing you suggested and compressing the files so that people here don't have to take that extra step (and to allow for mobile downloads again).

As for the name change mod -- that won't be necessary (unless someone else wants to implement it as a mod, then by all means I have no issues).
There is a good reason for that --- it was intentional.

I don't plan on allowing / adding name changes because the character's names are all chosen for their meaning, all of them thus far. Bai Huan means clear fluid, or clear liquid -- for example. Yenay = she who is loved, and so on.

As far as the rest, my focus has shifted to sorting out as much as possible with the next update, which is coming next month. It really doesn't have anything to do with you personally and as I mentioned many of those are things I have / had on the agenda for a while now.

Don't get me wrong, I don't really have an issue with CC or suggestions, it just needs to be something that I need to add to my "to do" list.

They mean change name, as in change MCs name. Not so much the other characters, since you play as MC, a lot of people like to name them, whether it be their name or a name they like. But being able to name your MC, does wounders for immersion.

And well, the name change mod afaik only allows you to change the MCs name. but maybe they added in the ability to rename all of them while they were added.

But for the most part, being able to name your MC, is step one in most VNs, and is usually added at some point if not in the first version. (people really like to be able to name themselves when they play a POV VN)
