The point is, we have been getting "Soon" comments in this thread for more than a YEAR, and it just keeps getting pushed back. I would just prefer honesty, and the constant assurances that it will be next month, no not THIS next month, the month after the next, next month and so on, are sounding very tired and dishonest.

I've been one of those who has spoken out against the sense of entitlement many seem to have. I've encouraged people to be patient, that there have been unforseen circumstances, and ALL that. I STILL encourage patience. However, I grow impatient... not with the delays of the game... but with the endless assurances that it will be "soon."

Just got into the thread and want to try the game out. I'm not sure what to download and play first. Main link (which I downloaded the compressed version) or the Chapter 4 remaster that is under a "spoiler" function?

Congratulations, you made an easy prediction and it came true. When you are done patting yourself on the back for your impressive accomplishment, you can look at what the actual criticism you are receiving is.

No one is saying the development is not taking a long period of time. What they are saying is that it is not a difficult prediction to say that a single developer working in their spare time is going to have a long cycle, especially when they are a perfectionist who is taking on tons of extra redevelopment work. More importantly, making the claim that it will take a long time is not adding to anything.

The fact that it is more important to you that people see you are right than it is for the game you are a fan of to actually have an update says a lot, and none of it is good. And the idea that shitting on something for not being completed quickly feels to you to be worthy of praise, but developing an excellent game solo is only worth derision if it is not happening at the speed you want it to is such an entitled point of view.

But how dare anyone defend the person who is actually creating something of value.

I'm not trying to offend anyone and I like the game and I want the update to happen (instead of maybe 2nd remaster wave) and (pretty lame, I know) I like the fact there are (skilled) female devs. But I'm amazed for how long how many people can pay for just (mostly empty) promises. RenPy (framework tested independently) visual novel (so few options/paths, few gameplay elements to interact with, few GUI controls) testing and release process of developed increment doesn't take months like for complex/critical solutions. Even if the volunteers involved would work on it in a tiny fraction of their time. Just saying from an experience of a sw architect and engineer...

The thing here is that no one is paying a dime since forever, so this dev's 'empty' promises are easily accepted by her 'patrons' (btw, many of them happen to be testing different modules or even the whole package, so they know those promises aren't exactly empty).

After the glowing update in Jan, the patreon radio silence in Feb and past experience has me preparing myself for bad news to be coming. Let's hop we get a pre-easter miracle instead.
