As the well as the obvious better composition and dustcloud from kicking the engines on (not bad, eh? ), the landing pad has had a makeover with the rescaling done much better (ever wondered why the rails were so high? It was because the asset was too small and I was crap at faffing with them...). Also redid the surface so it won't look so bad in closeup and dirtied it up for wear and tear. Oh, and better lighting for shine and shadows and Vanny loses her missiles for common sense purposes on re-entry (again, I didn't know how to knock stuff off assets before)

Remastering the shit out of it. Well, as best as I can on an etch-a-sketch

I think it's akin to NASA or ESA in a sense. A governmental project outside of the military or at least a joint operation.


This makes total sense to me. The military takes care of all the logistics, so it is reasonable to have one of their officers in that role there. All the traffic is military.

The point I was making was in response to claim it was a civilian base and I was just pointing out it seemed unlikely. That at minimum it was a joint operation though considering military vet the research I think it safe to assume its a military operation. There is no way Mike has the same authority as an Ensign. Chris may let Marcus pull his politics but if any of crew were endangered she would pull her rank and bitch slap Marcus into next week...and if she ever finds out about the tests with Sarah we might just get to see it.

Lets not forget MC has the power to shut entire base down which seems to make it an entirely Military operation.

I am going to have to respectfully disagree with the developer here. While she's working tirelessly on remastering her renders to make it look better, I'd encourage you to go ahead and download the current game and give it a shot.

1st -- its just three chapters. You can probably play through the 3 chapters (the first time) in less than an hour and you will get to see what the fuss is all about...

2nd -- BELIEVE ME.... you are going to play it through again, making different choices. And again, making different choices.... and then again, trying to break the system... and again, "for reals". Now you have gotten 3 hours of fun out of an hours worth of content.

3rd -- You will now have a frame of reference for "most" of what is discussed here... i say "most" because it can go off the rails fairly easily, but that is the other amazing part that the game itself created a little community of fellow travelers that kind of check in with each other daily, hourly, minute-Ly? with each other just "cause".

4th -- The new renders are going to make it sexier - but the content/story isn't changing, so when It does come out, you can oooh and ahhhh with the rest of us and not feel like the noob.

Welcome aboard, now go get started!

Just everybody make sure to keep a copy of the current version, and mark it "Collectors' Edition". Newbs won't easily get to see these awesome vintage original Heavy Five renders!

Only problem: it doesn't come with an official physical sleeve. But, I think I got that covered.
Just cut a CD sleeve from a Jaffa Cakes package, insert a CD-ROM with the Heavy Five Original zip file, close the edges with tape, and write nothing but the version number on it with a black waterproof marker. Should look legit.
Notty totes won't be reading this, and won't consider the idea as a "highest tier" reward, but the newbs won't know that.

Full throttle to slow down and land with smoke and dust, superbly done!!

And to get ride of the missiles for a atmospheric re-entry was nothing more than logical knowing your attention to detail... it's fixed now thanks to your determination to obtain more skills!

The RahRah we know and love is back. Well about the qualities of the renders all has been said and I would not like to fluster Notty further or make her shy by complimenting her any further, just have a ciggie and jaffa cake. Also nothing to tease her with.

Well the military are heavily involved in exploration of space and which military organisation in history would not be heavily interested in an almost uninhabited planet all for their own purposes? So it would make all the sense in the world for them to pull strings on that planet, we do miss the information though on the political situation on Earth, though from the few hints we got, the military has more influence then we are used to in Western Europe or even bit more as in current USA.

This is true. I do have a list of civ grades, you guys just don't have them - not a great deal of reason for you to do so, but Mike and Annie would be equivalent to each other.

One of the biggest challenges I have is how and when to let you know things With there being so much underlying detail the challenge for me is how to provide this to the player without overwhelming them (especially, and let's be honest for a sec, this genre of game has never really gone into too much plotting other than "your father has died and...." ) Also, I have to bear in mind that not everyone will want to know this sort of thing - although, you have no idea how delighted I am that a lot of you do!

Amanda, however, is my sock poppet for this detail. When you talk to her in Four there's a branch line where you can really get into how and why everything is organised and who is responsible for what. She seemed a good mechanism, to me at least, to be able to provide all this to the player if they wanted to know.

However! Short answer is that the project is under civilian governance with civ scientists etc but with the military providing the manpower for the vessels etc. Although how strong that governance is, is perhaps open to question...

Sadly I just can#t get rid of them. Built into a single bone asset and so nothing I can do about it unless I learn how to rip assets apart on a whole new level, so we're stuck with them.

However for game purposes they don't matter. No one makes manual landings...oh.....
