You're talking about the Serpent's Lair quest? I already beat that and unlocked the black market but never got any sword from it. After beating her in serpent's lair, I robbed her once in Serpent's gaze and I think that might've caused a problem.
Yeah, you don't get a sword from her, just your money back and the Devil Ax you buy in the first place. If you rob her, you lock out the whole questline/shop. Leave and try to buy the Ax again from the top, it might work, or that save might be borked. honestly don't know (maybe get caught and bad end reset during the robbery?)
my animations in multiple different bosses keeps getting stuck and i can't do anything except for a reset. is this a common bug for everyone?
In all of my research it actually seems like there's no real walkthrough. The closest thing is a guide made by a guy on reddit playing eroge fire emblem games, he doesn't even have a foot fetish!

You can find it just by typing "Fire Emblem Copycat H-Game Redux" and it's right there on Reddit. Unfortunately the actual guide is a Imgur link which now seems gone after Imgur went the way of Tumblr and deleted all NSFW content.

Okay so how does one progress to a new chapter? After I do the first three missions and buy the Devil Axe it doesn’t allow me to progress anymore. What do I do to go to the next chapter with the Innkeeper?

Generally, we say do all side missions first, but the main quests will lead you to the next chapter. Read the text, see where your supposed to go to succeed in the main mission, and you should be brought to the Inn for the Chapter two turnover.

Wait what is the "main mission" I did all three missions in chapter 1 already, and the mission to get Charlotte's shoes is supposedly impossible at low levels.
But did you stop at all the houses and recruit the obvious not!NPC characters? You're looking for Sally Forth, Terror Gorge, and Taxes or Death. I know you can recruit an Ax wielder and an Archer in the back 2, and Sally Forth is a grind quest to get levels up. Beat them all, get the recruits, and you should be in place to get another actual mission. If it doesn't work, you may be bugged, try to restart with a fresh download.
Also, personal tip - Movement speed is king in this game. Ground coverage is an ignored but broken stat. It's stupid, but the bunny ears item giving +2 movement is huge (Also unlocks some interactions as you play playboy bunny bartender to some bosses, but whatev)
