Right now I'd wait. The first chapter has a bit of branching and does some info dumping on who the people are and what they are with each other along with a lot of teasing (blue balling). Story wise, something is being created but it hasn't really developed yet. So if you're looking for the story to really do something for you, I'd wait on this one for now as of right now it's just enough to maybe make you curious about where it's going.
I think waiting would be best seeing that there's not much story right now.. Although everyone seems to complain about the dev lol so it's also a matter of whether the game will ever reach that point.

Important Reading.

Every single month... A new Patron joins to help us reach that goal, 3 patrons cancel as soon as they do... I would assume they know this project's future depends on the support it can gather... Boggles the mind.

Anyways, if everyone could have kept their pledge until the end of the month, it would be showing a total of $728 right now. Yes, that's how much the total pledges come to this month. The goal looks much more attainable doesn't it? I think it does.

Now imagine you're a potential new patron, you like the project, you check in from time to time, and you see that number fall.
That goal is attainable. Easily.

Stop reading nonsense on forums and help us get there so I can finish the rest of Chapter 2.

And if it isn't too much to ask, can my current patrons please keep their pledge up until the end of the month.

Thank you.

Silk.

As you seem to read this forum, here is a little tip for you Mr. Milker: How about finishing the chapter 2 for your current patrons, showing them the respect they deserve and then AFTER THAT trying to gather more support for yourself, instead of just making your current patrons pay for some lame ass wallpapers and whining posts where you try to pester some more money. Boggles the mind, doesn't it?

Very sorry to see him still living under his bubble, lacking the humility to see beyond his pretentious shenanigans and sowing a fanbase.

Boggles the mind...

I cannot help but feel like he should leave the PR to someone else who is more competent in that area. The way he had been writing in his Patron posts is, frankly, alienating and turning off so many potential Patrons. On the other hand, I respect him for being honest and blunt, even if it costs him Patrons. But even his honesty will not help him there if he continue to alienate many people this way. I always say honesty is the best policy but that is not always the case, as this one clearly illustrated.

His honesty amounts to wanting more money. That's not a charming revelation at all.
If he thinks he deserves more, then he's just honest about being clueless. Nobody pays a subscription for a Ren'Py visual novel. They're paying out of kindness and because they're fans of his work. At this point, everything he has to show for himself is disappointing and still he's threatening that he will keep on being disappointing. He won't gain any fans by showing how desperate he is.
If he was as good as he thinks he is, he could've landed a satisfying job in the field and his Patreon would be a passion project. But it isn't or else his desperation wouldn't be so obvious. I wonder if his talent could carry his Patreon page, if he wouldn't lure in horny dudes by creating porn.

All this is a shame because I really like the game, the models are good (maybe "too young"), the relationship between the characters are good, I was confused at first because the "ultimate taboo" already happened off-screen but fortunately all those flashbacks are filling those empty spaces in the plot and let's be honest, it's something very original, usually in those games you need to grind a lot of fuck THAT character and it's almost always at the end, I can't wait to see more past and present scenes but that attitude of the creator is not something that will bring supporters.

Looking at the preview pictures made me really interested in this project, but after seeing the developer's Patreon page...

He's basically asking for people to pirate this shit with the way he's acting towards his community and potential "customers". Rarely seen someone so full of themselves while barely having accomplished anything.

His behavior is so disgusting, I actually don't even want to pirate this game.

Thanks, but no thanks!

I honestly think this is the BEST GAME I ever tried on this platform. Probably together with Lucky Mark :D

Cancellation On The Horizon.

Support needs to go up, not down. I can not work on the project unless I have sufficient support to do so. We are now under 50% of the needed goal.

I can not work on it and wait for the support to come. I need your support to work on it.

Heir Apparent has been downloaded 10's of thousands of times across multiple platforms with a total of 69 patrons who are willing to back it right now. While I am thankful to them and every patron who has helped along the way, that is unsustainable.

The effort and time it takes me to produce this kind of quality in both renders and writing is immense and taxing.

There is no project like Heir Apparent and there never will be. Not even close. And we're only at the beginning.

If you enjoy what I do, and you're in a financial situation to do so, you need to join those 69 patrons and help me keep working on it.

If you're not in a financial situation to help, you need to help get the word out (without breaking any rules on the forums out there.)

Last month the total pledged was $790, I dropped a project in the hopes it would continue to grow and got about 60% of the way through the rest of Chapter 2. Not something I can do again.

Regards....
Silk

if the Dev comes to this forum and read this: Go fuck yourself already, cancel it at once, you have a great talent for the assets and story but completely trash work ethics. If you didn't think you would have to invest from your own pocket in the first updates, you are insane. You have one of the best content in the genre in the last years, but that alone gets you shit if you can't show your supporters you can deliver. You go out of your way to tell them not to trust you. Again, fuck the right off!

I honestly would have loved to support this game as I really love the graphics, the ladies and the overall set-up of the story. It has all the ingredients I like about these games ruled into one. From the get-go there was this lingering feeling that this project could get shut down at any time - much like the previous one (which I did support for six months on the second highest tier btw).
With this imminent danger of contributing to a game that will most likely never be finished how would I convince myself to spent any money on this?
I mean he has to be aware that with his communication in regards to how he will handle the development and the clear threat of cancelling the whole endeavor part-ways through no one in their right mind could expect people to throw their money at you.
Besides from a completely new set of mind this developer really neeeds somebody to handle his PR.
You really need to entice people, make them want to support you by delivering high-class product on a regular basis. And if you're really good people will come all by themselves. With a bit of well managed community-service everything will run smoothly.
It is such a shame that this game is doomed just because the developer is unable to handle even the simplest of interaction with other people.
