Lockpicking:

1. Check the newspaper at the diner and take it with you;
2. Read the article on crime;
3. go to the Park to trigger the associated event and Confront the man;
4. Ask him to teach you some tricks.

Pass on the Slut Maker, though: it probably is locked behind Chemistry level (if so - low, maybe 20-30) or by the Copper quest when you go to the park and spot the tail. Both came around so naturally in all my playthroughs that I never bothered thinking about it.

Slut Maker and Corrupter are early drugs, yes--you upgrade them as you get high Chemistry skill level, but you only need the base versions to start influencing characters that accept items.
The Jenny Coppers/Diana King quest requires that you have both drugs on you during the weekend when you visit the park, and later have both on you when you visit the police station. You don't have to finish (or even start) that quest to continue making drugs, even though the narration suggests you do (it might mean you have to in order to unlock future drugs though!)

  1. Purchase Chemistry Classroom
  2. Inspect classroom after a few days (I think 4 business/school days)
  3. Purchase Chem Lab (Option only unlocks after step 2)
  4. Inspect lab after a few days, grab book
  5. Read book daily until "you're better off selling it"
  6. Go to lab and research until you can Create Drug
  7. If you run out of resources, you'll automatically buy more as long as you have enough money (500+ I think, while it only costs ~200).
  8. A few days after creating your drugs you should get a Refiner to "shop" for the drugs you invented.
Later drugs also help with Lindsey Melkers' questline (she'll automatically approach you once you invent the relevant drug) and the Sierra Hardman's questline if you decided to "cure" her. I don't know of anybody else who requires drugs for their quests, but they can certainly help loosen a non-quest character up once they accept items.

I don't know if it's been changed but in older versions at least if I'm remember correctly I think you had to start developing them right away once you learned how because you'd eventually get a game over event if you didn't go at least partway through the events.

I'm getting exceptions every morning from students who picked up softcore porn mags, any way to fix this?

hyfka Load your game, hit Debug in the lower right corner near Settings, and tick Disable Multithreading in Debug Events.

Also, for whatever reason, I sometimes find it unchecked again, which brings another issue to the table - sometimes going to a new location or ending an event takes ALOT of time and the game becomes unresponsive (even though it does eventually continue). If I get that issue - I know the option is no longer checked.

Sounds like you have not yet passed the Drive Lounge's surly customer at Red Corner, during school hours or whenever a bartender is working there.
Requires major stamina or special item to proceed.

See also post with old quest walkthroughs.

When I checked the game over events, I only saw one for two-years and 0-reputation, but it's possible that gameover was simply hidden in another event. I was able to wait a month safely enough--perhaps the problem happens if you wait two months, since one month might be needed for the income to afford it?

If you go into the Profiler in the debug window, you can also set Unresponsiveness Timer to something like 5000. The game might freeze up trying to resume itself if you have it set to 0, while apparently it only freezes for up to ten seconds if you do that?

So if you successfully punch out the guy in the lounge, you will still get thrown out later, but have the Back Street added to your Red Corner locations (& Drive Lounge removed).
Got that far?

Do you still have access to the bar? If so, you failed.

Can anybody help me with the Order Prostitute [via phone] event thingy? Called the first girl forever enough times to get her real name (and 30% discount), unlocked the second girl and her working name (and 30% discount)...and ground to a halt. Both still have the quest icon, but I feel like I went through another "forever"; no idea where to go from here. Clearly, there is the reveal of her actual name ahead, at the very least. What is progress locked behind? Number of calls? Friendship/Relationship? Something else entirely?

barteke22 But...but...every single encounter had wine incorporated into it T_T...okay, except the very first one when I found out I juuust might need it :rolleyes:

Would that mean the number of encounters is the important factor, then?

Unless something changed since it first came out, it was either lots of wine, or that + every option at least once with wine.
There was also some loyalty system, but I don't remember how it worked, I think if you broke their rules, or something it would reset progress.
