October was a while ago, dude.

My confidence in Komi will be restored the minute the man releases an actual update and not a moment before. We've been waiting for years for him to essentially remake the game and that is a very large, very red flag.

If he wants people to say nice things about him, he's got to start taking the flags down. Dude looks like the Soviet fucking Union.
I know its a while but the last update took long also . I'm not defending Komi but i think its best to remain patient

part of me feels bad that there are still people that haven't seen through komi milking patreon all this time and still support him monthly. then again i can't help but laugh cause they are dumb enough to keep doing it. i can totally understand why komi is stalling cause why would he rush it when he knows no matter what hes making some serious money off patreon even with no effort. it's alot like the scalper problem right now even if you don't engage in it there is always some moron out there that is going to engage in it

why this say abandon tag when i check his pateron and hes active there. well his last post was 2024.
Because Komi hasn't updated since 2021 or so, when the absolute buffoon decided to essentially remake the game wholesale before rereleasing it.

And before someone else comments with mad salt, yes, he didn't do the polite thing and pause patreon donations, but he isn't actually obligated to do that and seems to be dependent on them to like, live and breath and shit, so whatever. This is more about him biting off so much more than he can chew that he may well have been spending this period choking on neutronium.

I'm not convinced Komi is a scammer, however, he's absolutely fucking dumb as hell and I have very little faith the abandoned tag will be removed any time soon.

Well, if you add the fact that he also lied about the release/progress of the update 5 times, if you count the latest post on his patreon from almost 5 month ago, to the fact that this update was 'worked on' since 2021 without a release of anything, then I think it would be safe to say that he is a scammer.

I mean saying I am working on the update without releasing anything for almost 4 years is damning enough for most people, but the fact that he also lied repeatedly about releasing the update and not releasing anything for almost 4 years should convince even the most stubborn supporters of this dev that he is a scammer... so it's surprising to see that there is anyone who knows all this but still doesn't think that he is a scammer.

Keep in mind that this is how close the dev said he was to being done back in September of 2021 on his Discord which was reposted in this thread:

Komisari is farming patreon subs through the same *features* that he has been marketing since 2021. He even responds to posts saying HHG is not dead on other forums but provides no real proof of progress. His strategy is simple, he made a game with a great foundation to draw in new subscribers (one of my favs at the time of release). He had one of the most popular games ever when it came out (and honestly still has very high quality today). The game was at the top of all sites "popular" listings. He basically had the SEO for each site, but sites have since evolved and knocked HHG from the top listings as they factor in more than just the best ratings. They now factor in recent updates and other factors into "weighted ratings" so HHG is falling off. However, it took years to reach this point so his patreon continued to do really well but does have a gradual dropoff with about half as many subs now since the peak in 2021. Still brings in a bunch of $$$ though so he's gonna milk it till it dies. Personally, I think the developer moved on to another project or projects (his work is top notch) and has someone marketing his patreon to milk subs.

This is how Patreon works, you subscibe with no guarantee for content, so I recommend only subbing to those you see proof of content updates or just to support them because you enjoy what they have done so far. Don't "Expect" content just because you are subbing. There is no legal obligation for creators to provide you anything through patreon and other platforms. They are strangers, not your friends, not your family, and they owe you nothing. Sure, some creators are great at being transparent and living up to the hype, but many aren't so don't fall into a parasocial trap similar to how guys simp over women on camsites.

Well, take this however you want to. I'm hopeful it's true but I'm not gonna hold my breath. His Trello page says he added some more content on 2/11/25 however the percentage complete for those is a little disappointing. I love the game he released so far, but I don't know how much longer I'm going to make periodic checks back here to see if it's actually available. Only 5 out of the 15 elements of the game show as 50% or more complete. If he doesn't release a smaller update and continues his current rate of progress, we're looking at another 4 - 8 years until the release of part 1 of chapter 1.
Komi, I tried to stay hopeful and support you in here, and have for a few years, but I just don't know if I can do it any more. There's a point where a person just has to stop caring and I think I'm almost to that point. Sorry. I wish you good fortune.

I may be wrong but the smart move from Komi would be to start making a new game under a different name to milk two cows. :ROFLMAO:

If you think about it, there are some games that match the style of Hero's Harem Guild.

That's part of why I think Komi is just a moron and not a scammer. A scammer would already be running a new operation. Hell, it probably wouldn't be well-covered; that lets people self-filter so only marks who won't cut off the money flow will donate and a more insular community is created. Think about those Nigerian Prince scams - they're purposefully bad so that the emails self-filter dumbasses from the general population and the scammer behind them doesn't need to waste time with people who'll see through the scam anyways partway through (or worse, contact someone who can actually do something about it).

Komi has not done this. I think it is because Komi, rather than being a purposeful scammer, is just a fucking idiot. He's not milking people for money, he's trying to get people to invest in his vision. It's just his vision isn't any good.

It would not at all be a smart move and he and other devs like him are well aware of that which is why none of them do it.

Making a new game takes a lot more time and effort with less chances of a payoff than updating an existing already popular game. There is no guarantee that the new game you make will ever be popular (for example The Daily Life of the Pan Hero which has 44 paid subscribers after almost 3 years). A half decent demo takes between 3-6 months of hours of daily work and you will have no subscribers at all for it until you release it. The whole idea of milking is to get as many paid subscribers as possible and then not doing anything while collecting funds. So it would make no sense to go and bust your ass making a new game, which might not pay off at all, in the hopes that you can milk it later when you already have a very popular game which would bring you more money updating it. If you don't want to put in the time and effort to make updates and simply want to collect funds (aka milking), then you sure as hell will not want to put in even more time and effort to make a new game which might not even get 100 subscribers after multiple years (which btw you will also have to update at least a few times because it takes months to collect any subscribers for a new game and people will see right away that it's a scam if during that time no updates are made).

If he wanted to make anything he would have made the update and got more subscribers, and if he doesn't want to make anything but only to collect funds then he wouldn't make neither an update nor a new game. That's the whole idea of milking: getting funds without releasing anything.
