WHy ? Just fucking why are they always start remaking the game before finishing it ?! Just like Scammertime saga.
I mean, MOST games undergo multiple remakes before their final version. The initial releases of Minecraft and Rimworld didn't look very much like the games as they are now. Shit happens. Sometimes the code just can't account for the stuff you need to layer on top of it, even if that stuff was planned (and definitely if it wasn't).

Usually, though, these remakes and restructurings don't radically alter core processes of the game which seems to be the issue Komi's having. Bro could also just decide to put a cap on the unfinished stuff and release it right now, but he's bound and determined to finish the whole damn thing before releasing.

It would not at all be a smart move and he and other devs like him are well aware of that which is why none of them do it.

Making a new game takes a lot more time and effort with less chances of a payoff than updating an existing already popular game. There is no guarantee that the new game you make will ever be popular (for example The Daily Life of the Pan Hero which has 44 paid subscribers after almost 3 years). A half decent demo takes between 3-6 months of hours of daily work and you will have no subscribers at all for it until you release it. The whole idea of milking is to get as many paid subscribers as possible and then not doing anything while collecting funds. So it would make no sense to go and bust your ass making a new game, which might not pay off at all, in the hopes that you can milk it later when you already have a very popular game which would bring you more money updating it. If you don't want to put in the time and effort to make updates and simply want to collect funds (aka milking), then you sure as hell will not want to put in even more time and effort to make a new game which might not even get 100 subscribers after multiple years (which btw you will also have to update at least a few times because it takes months to collect any subscribers for a new game and people will see right away that it's a scam if during that time no updates are made).

If he wanted to make anything he would have made the update and got more subscribers, and if he doesn't want to make anything but only to collect funds then he wouldn't make neither an update nor a new game. That's the whole idea of milking: getting funds without releasing anything.
Your issue is that you're assuming a scammer would want a half-decent demo. Scammers do not release half-decent demos. That defeats the purpose of a scam. There's a reason big game companies release tons of Schlock while smaller companies are usually the ones innovating. The most effective way to make money off development is not to develop good games, it's to develop cheap games.

If you're running a patreon scam then, your goal is to have a number of different patreons with mid content that'll "definitely update soon guys I promise just as soon as I'm done getting my gallbladder removed", and then your focus goes towards making the mid content easier to produce (with AI for example) and to advertising the content (because despite everything, people will still buy obviously shitty products just because they saw a commercial once). Though in this case advertisement is more personal than that. Same thing though.

Basically, if you want to make money as a patreon scammer, your most effective strategy is going to be unleashing a fucking grapeshot of really cheap, low quality demos as fast as you can for as long as you can, not making one really good demo and then just kinda sitting on it like Komi's doing.

I am not going to try to reason with a guy who is trying to convince others that a dev is still working on an update that he promised almost 4 years ago and repeatedly lied about its competition/release all the way from 2021. Clearly facts are meaningless to you. A dev who was proven to be a liar saying that he is still working on the update despite overwhelming evidence suggesting the contrary is somehow convincing to you; so providing facts contradicting what you wrote in your post is clearly a fruitless endeavor.

I'd Have too agree with you aswell considering a minimum patreon supporter would have forked out at least $42 since the last update release almost 2 years ago.

As a programmer, "he decided to remake it" is a shit excuse lol. A full remake of all content that was released, with writing and character models already _mostly_ sorted, would not take one year, let alone five xD

Edit: like actually, if you car this much about the game, stop funding komi and pay a new dev to resume it lmao

core mechanics might of been bad phrasing but more like a basic feature to current standards for majority of the games on here that stick out. The gallery is paywalled.
You don't save at every choice anyway?
I hardly even noticed the gallery was paywalled since I can just reload a save reasonably close to whatever scene I like and hold ctrl until it appears.

If a dog bark, then why tree not dog?

That's how the development of this game feels. It's giving me an aneurysm just thinking about it.

t's kinda silly people are still sending money after years of no updates...
Not only silly but also harmful . By making a scam such a success his backers are screaming "it works, guys, go for a cash grab!". And the more crap like this is happening the more incentive for milking there is, quality and output goes down, responsible devs get less opportunities because the trust is on a decline as well.

Selebus lowkey (possibly indirectly) roasted the fuck out of Komi on his 5th anniversary announcement discord post, so it's probably less that he believes in Komi the scammer and more that he loves Hero's Harem's Guild, as I'm sure most of us do (which is why we're still coping even 5 years after the last actual non-event update).

At this point I'm just hoping someone bought HHG IP and continued himself, but eh Komi probably not gonna let free thousand grand per month for cheap price or never at all huh.
