If it takes months, though, it isn't development hell? I'm pretty sure you've gotta take a whole year to claim that, at a minimum.
I mean, MOST games have at least one period, usually more, where there's little significant progress for months due to one thing or another. The bigger the game the more likely and often that happens.
But at this point HHG may as well be Duke Nukem Forever for how long we're gonna wait for it.
i'm not waiting, it's just mentally helpful to look in here when my opinion of people in general s getting too positive

...opinion of people in general s getting too positive
but the Fun part is:

- HHG 0.1.2 is from 2020 (edit: was not 2021)
- he could have switched to Unity
- learn C#
- import his Pythoncode in C#

and the best Part is, he could still use his Koikatsu Animations/Pictures and rework his Minigames/Gameplay.

Well, well, well… Four months into this brand new year and still no update.

How many years has it been since he first promised an update? Two? Three? More?

Making over $4000 a month just to write apology posts because he can’t deliver updates every few months—or even years—on Patreon?

That’s a genius right there. :WeSmart:
See ya all next year. :KEK:

they are not actually working on the game.
People paying him/them money on Patreon and Itch.io for development.

after seen many other Games in 2022-2024 Abandoned, because funding was bad ($100 - $1,000), and most top Games with $3,000, $5,000, $10,000+ don't Updating for 6+ months/years is simply disgusting.

And I don't say, every Dev should work without break, but a minor Update after 100 - 130 hours development time should be possible.

If you believe in the theory of "every time you talk about the development status, the update gets pushed back" I actually think we're pretty on track

He actually explained it before. "His truth" is that other devs are nowhere close to the "quality" he wants.
is Ren'Py not in Python? even without 'AI', it was popular and has many Devs. I could understand a niche language like COBOL
It is not even lack of leadership, it is lack of even will to do something.
Python Dev in Egypt $20 per hour, if Komi could explain his ideas.

Fun Fact: you can easy hire Devs in Ukraine, because I saw a few Abandoned Games

The coding is not the bottleneck on these games. It is almost always the scenes, the history and all that. But god damn, this dude is milking its fanbase dry and people are still paying him. I think he deserves this money. If people are stupid enough to pay for it, fuck it. Get their money. They deserve to learn a lesson.

It's understandable that he doesn't want to hire other coders but the "quality" excuse is bs, devs have adapt to the code base as they go along. He's a decent swe but there's really nothing special about his programming style if the .rpy files found inside .rpas are anything to go by.

I'm still trying to figure out why it’s taking the dev so long to drop a new update though. He said he was gonna break it up into smaller releases but it's been.. years since anything meaningful came out of him? I see that he's active on discord but jfc, I might have to get into game making myself if that's all it takes to secure a living wage for a few years

this game was one of the first, with nice scenes, good gameplay and ~3 years active development.

if you can make good scenes in koikatsu etc. with 10+ Lis, than you can have a ~1000 Subs. but the true is, koikatsu scenes can take 10 min to 3 hours (or more), and most new devs quit because it is unprofitable.
The coding is not the bottleneck on these games. It is almost always the scenes, the history and all that...
history? you mean evens?

are gameplay events, tracking from choices and mini games not coding? Summertime Saga has coding problems for 6+ years

Komisari is farming patreon subs through the same *features* that he has been marketing since 2021. He even responds to posts saying HHG is not dead on other forums but provides no real proof of progress. His strategy is simple, he made a game with a great foundation to draw in new subscribers (one of my favs at the time of release). He had one of the most popular games ever when it came out (and honestly still has very high quality today). The game was at the top of all sites "popular" listings. He basically had the SEO for each site, but sites have since evolved and knocked HHG from the top listings as they factor in more than just the best ratings. They now factor in recent updates and other factors into "weighted ratings" so HHG is falling off. However, it took years to reach this point so his patreon continued to do really well but does have a gradual dropoff with about half as many subs now since the peak in 2021. Still brings in a bunch of $$$ though so he's gonna milk it till it dies. Personally, I think the developer moved on to another project or projects (his work is top notch) and has someone marketing his patreon to milk subs.

This is how Patreon works, you subscibe with no guarantee for content, so I recommend only subbing to those you see proof of content updates or just to support them because you enjoy what they have done so far. Don't "Expect" content just because you are subbing. There is no legal obligation for creators to provide you anything through patreon and other platforms. They are strangers, not your friends, not your family, and they owe you nothing. Sure, some creators are great at being transparent and living up to the hype, but many aren't so don't fall into a parasocial trap similar to how guys simp over women on camsites.
I totally agree, creators like caribidis and Selebus are always on point. Amazing quality, better writing and story, better characters, with creators like that why waste on someone who only makes promises? If the supporters were truly supporting someone for their merit all these games would have more quality as to win something you would have to deliver the best of the best, making quality the driver for competition between creators. Instead people have pity on him (which i understand but do not support) for his situation but dont undertand that he is announcing a product other than supporting him, hes announcing a game so when you support him, you are expecting something in return... this isnt a crowdfund for him to live better, and indeed he is scamming even if he doesnt mean it.

See:
Sad. Looks like Komi's following in ICSTOR's footsteps. Traded in game development for social media management.

It took me several years before I accepted he was a scammer, and posted that. And those quotes are years old. I literally went from a crappy dead-end job to a DevOps engineer in the time since he's last released an update. Anyone still defending this are just outright delulu.
