Some devs do it but it always feels different afterwards, we just lost Stray Incubus and the dev left everything with 2 of his Discord mods so if anyone wants to take it over they can. I got a feeling we will see this story again but just in text form
Might get a spiritual successor someday.

abandoned ?It was one of like games. I wish it was one of the games with an ending. Does anyone know why it was abandoned? Did patreon delete the account again? Or did it not get good support?

Dev was working 30+ hours a week on it, on top of his fulltime job, so he burned out.

Spread the word, guys: you don’t need to overwork yourself to be a good programmer/dev; set healthy boundaries for yourself. Slow and steady wins the race.

I believe there must be a balance between a work program , excessive dedication and expect fast financial return.
Ahhh not so slow or they end up falling asleep..:ROFLMAO:

Many Devs have led themselves to believe that they could live only as developers and support themselves with Patreon. (a terrible mistake)
Which can be proven by the amount of abandoned AAA titles that the dream is over.
I believe that Grinvald fits into these category.

It is not the first time that he has abandoned Hot S, in a time not too long ago he had the opportunity to pass the project to another dev... And ended up giving up....yes, a possibility of sinking the project to (or who knows, maybe not)
Now an abandoned project, and forgotten in the desert hot sands..

Edit..A similar VN and not mentioned, WastelandGuardians.
Some similarities: an MC who sees (dead people) and emotional scars.
The beginning of the story is strange, where it starts with a female protagonist.
Good graphics, a bit confusing beginning... but it follows the post-apocalyptic theme. (one caveat, slow updates)
But for those who like the theme, and haven't heard of it...

What a pity that this game got abandoned, I played it today and it was really great. I see a lot of people comparing it to Desert Stalker but I don't know, from the little I played it I find Hot Sand of Antarctica far superior.
I find it to be 2 seperate games, very distingt from each other tbh. Its both post apoc. but thats it imo.
I hope work on this will continue some day, a great loss for us all.

It's an unfair comparison. The only real similarity the two games have is an unknown event turned the planet much more hostile to human life than it should be and the MC in both can have a very masculine personality.

Desert Stalker from Wish?

Seriously though, I love post-apocalyptic themes so If this one proves to be worthy I'll give it a try for sure

Edit: since people keep liking my comment probably because it's in the first page, I want to add that when I wrote this comment I hadn't play it yet. Don't get fooled by it, it's a great game, absolutely worth to try.
you have a list post Apocalypse games?

Let's remember

Dev quit once said he wasn't going to continue the game.
Then returns drops 2 updates then quits again.

Meaning either he dropped what he had left or he finally decided to quit without wanting to return.
Now if he returns again, Take everything he says or does with a grain of salt.
