Somewhat off-topic, if I wanted to make easy money, I'd "crib" the idea and characters of abandoned games and just finish them. It's not that difficult to make enough changes to avoid copyright infringement.

I don't even think games made with Honey Select can be copyrighted, there's a reason none of the devs put their games on Steam, cuz they themselves don't own the assets.
So technically speaking anyone should be able to just copy paste any HS game and recreate it on their own.
Dreamlink is a great example lol
Would love to see someone pick up the mantle for Deviant Anomalies, sadly don't think anyone except the people already working on the top games would be able to handle its concept/potential well, its scope is quite big.
A game like Hot Springs Academy though, anyone who's good at working with decent models and animations could handle it lol.

and the idea wasn't that bad. it was funny when Shirohima and Jira ended up in the same class. but Kayane - she must be God's favorite, since her soul was back in her own body, and there was no annoying Kenichi around =) although both Maki and Motoko could be recognized relatively easily in the crowd.

They made everything wrong you can do. Already in the first episode they started very slow, had beautiful girls but absolutely no sex. With the update they just pimped up the first episode without really improving. Same ending with a long, stupid and completely superfluous pool scene. Sorry but when you have superhot chicks like Kyoko and Akane and let nothing happen with them, then you spoil everything with purpose. You can have great girls but if you have nothing to tell ... then forget it! This VN died because of the incapability of it's creators and nobody wants to give money to losers.
