I understand your frustration. I enjoy him focusing on this content over the story scenes. It's totally possible to have it both ways, but there's not really a way to please both you and I at the same time. I suggest we please each other in the meantime. It is the only way to be fair and eqcumitable.
Does any machine translator for Unity work with this game? I can only play in Japanese without crashing, and it's frustrating.

honestly i've been disappointed at the barren wasteland of text lines in hotm. i was looking forward to the quadripeds (ie. the dogs) but all she says is "ohh nooo" "the penis is inside" "this is suboptimal" and other vacuous nonsense. i don't need much emotional investment, but come on, with that kind of writing i'm basically just looking at a looping simple 3d animation, with a branched 2nd animation for the orgasm

Yeah for me the text is also very important. I've been playing through Warrior Maiden Lecia and the text that scrolls during combat rape is something that helps me push through the mediocre art and "animations." It's nice to know what's going on in her skull, not just her pussy. If the dev could just push through imposter syndrome and constant sense of inadequacy than maybe he could manage something much better. I tend to cut him some slack because I think many of us can relate to that. But yeah at some point I think a lot of problems this game has could be solved with accepting help from others to desperately improve his game. But if he's anything like me he probably wants full control over a project and if he doesn't think anything he makes will ever compare to Holy Knight Ricca or whatever than what's the point of doing better? Better to plod along and maintain victimhood. It's definitely not a lack of talent but rather a lack of structure and constant self-doubt that plagues the game. I wish homeboy would get over himself. But I know he won't. So yes all of these are problems but the fact that we get updates at all is genuinely enough for me. Because I know that with enough pushback this dev would probably just pack it in. I try to look at it positively because without it I don't think this project will finish.

i mean, i just barely made it through my various neuroses and mental illnesses. i can't even imagine having to do that with an enormous, overwhelmingly labor-intensive project -- one that requires consistent creative drive to make progress, and that must be kept secret because it's ultimately still fringe pornography -- on top of all the ruminating, frenetic self-loathing. so in that regard, i definitely think these hentai game creators deserve our respect.
i will say though, it's amusing (in a genuinely sympathetic kind of way) how consistently these creators have backbreaking, all-encompassing psychological problems. i'd say it's like, what, one in three? games with dev blogs that spiral into increasingly bleak emotional outbursts every single post, eventually becoming the dev's xanga page instead of a dev log. i just feel like that should be an enormous red flag to them all that hey, this huge endeavor you're working on clearly takes a toll on the vast majority of people that go for it. maybe go easy on yourself, acknowledge what you're doing is almost certainly the origin of many of your anxieties and doubts, etc etc.
edit: also, he needs to get real with a lot of the gameplay features. i don't know what kind of social environment japan is that enables these creative types to dream big with these "fringe porn that most humans would find abominable + deep gameplay systems + multiplayer capabilities" games. as far as i know, NO ONE wants deep gameplay in these types of games, if only to ensure the sex content remains the focus.
i missed 1 update and now i have to reinstall the entire game, wtf

Getting back to your point about the 'vacuous dialog' - The files are all there and unencrypted in the game archive, so if some brave soul were interested and took the time, its entirely feasible to mod the dialog to whatever their liking may be. The translations are done by f9account but AFAIK, he's not deviating from inui's dialog. There are some obvious limitations, some text files probably get re-used so contextually things may not make sense.. but it could definitely be made more palatable for a western audience.
