When first I saw your game, the graphics is what got my attention,(as in the 'girls', mostly, but the scenery also).
Reading your (?) overview, 'scared' me a bit,( the 'quest-tasks' that you NEED to do, to get the 'Good' stuff, as in "relationships" with the young-lady's), but the "Girls", looked so interesting, pretty, life-like, and some I'd like to meet if they were real,(and NO "Busty-Bimbo's", only "sweet-petites" ), spurred me to read, what those who have played the game, have to say about how it 'plays'.
I'm still reading . . . and replying, . . . which slows the reading, ! (oh, and watching "Aussie-Girls" enjoying 'life' !)
I have downloaded the latest version from here, and plan to play it soon.

In my code I can why you would be getting that error, but I don't why you are exactly as no one else including me is getting it. the only two possible answers I can give you is make sure you have downloaded the latest version and make sure you are not using a save from the first chapter, any other chapter should be fine. I will attach a file that will fix your immediate problem. Just put it inside the game folder and let it overwrite. (remove the numbers and dash in front of the name first)

After Penny slept over, the next screen is of the fitness room and says "Zoe seems bored..." but Zoe isn't actually there, and there's no further dialog. So, there's no error traceback but I'm now stuck in the room with no way to continue.

I got the error when choosing Penny over Jade. When I went back and chose Jade instead I still got the Penny scene anyway and there was no error, so there is definitely a better choice between the two.
In any case, the fix on the main page solved the issue when choosing Penny. Thanks!

I have not seen this myself, have you:
(1) edited save file?
(2) tried rolling back to earlier save?
(3) Is there a error dump that tells you anything?
(4) Tried his fix on original post?
