Thank you, I greatly appreciate it!
I agree with the post you're replying to. Finding a joint hobby would help their joint happiness and the marriage overall.
On the other point I guess we're all a bit selfish so that's fine. In V1 they're both pretty selfish as they drifted to doing what they like and ignoring their partner. Her with the book and him with work and computer games. As for things they could try together, maybe he could ask her if she wanted to play a fun computer game with him not a shoot 'em up. On the other side she could ask him if he wants to go to the gym with her. Also currently you have the option for him to buy her flowers or take her out for a meal. Maybe she could ask him if he wants to pop to the bar with her (as she's not working so can't afford much). She could also get a part time job...
Finally, your writing is fine and better than some of the rubbish I see and pass by after 5 minutes (at most). In terms of HTML games I only play 3 of them (not including this).
Anyway I'll leave it with you and will try V2.

It's a little more than that. While there is a big sexual element to this game/story (obviously), I also want it to be clear that the sex is NOT the most important thing. In most circumstances, it's the Happiness stat that is most relevant, and this is calculated from all three of the (physical) Satisfaction, (mental) Respect, and (emotional) Love stats. I don't have the highest level of confidence in my writing (I was coding the other game, not writing), so I am never sure whether I am accomplishing my story goals as well as I could. This update, in addition to a big scene requested by a Patron poll, focuses on trying to cleaning up a lot of the characterization of the wife. I don't mind if people view her as somewhat selfish, as this is arguably a necessary trait for one to demand happiness and attention from their partner (especially if they are provided it as well). But I never intended some of the other more negative perceptions of her. I know that there is a certain amount of hate that the female is always going to get in a game like this, but when sensible players have similar complaints, it might be a writing issue. We'll see if this update helps to repair her reputation a bit.
I'll add one perception it seems you are trying to go for (unless I'm wrong) that I'm just not feeling from her: Intelligent. The only time that description comes to mind is when the husband comments on how smart she is. But to me it feels like rose-colored glasses from his end. Unless that was your intention. Not that I see her as dumb, exactly. But none of her actions or statements have given me an impression that she's much smarter than average, maybe ranging between 100-115. Many college educated women in their 20's read & have an artistic hobby, so I don't think that can be an indicator in and of itself.
Yeah she really doesn't come off as above average intelligent, partly because she seems somewhat naive about her whole situation and at the same overtly confident especially compared to the husband. I think others mentioned before that the husband comes off as a tad too subservient (even though I understand there is an intenteded struggle there from what I can tell e.g. him going down the cuck route but that all happens too fast imho) while he doesn't seem to be too "insecure" (and why should he be as he is the "breadwinner", has a decent-paying job, good friends and is married to the love of his life). From my understanding, the insecurity is instilled in him by his wife when she just straight up tells him he is not satisfying her sexually which can be seen as both manipulative and not exactly empathetic (at least in the way she phrases it to him and also reminds him off his "shortcomings" mutliple times).

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by this. Would you mind being a little more specific about what she is "naive" about? What do you mean by "her whole situation"?
Well, first of all her marriage or more precisely her lack of sexual satisfication in it. It is indeed somewhat naive to jump into a marriage with a person that is not sexually compatible with you. In the intro, she mentions that this a problem since the very beginning of their relationship and it's just naive in my opinion to marry a person that can't satisfy you (or at least make you orgasm). This is especially true if you are a person with a high sex drive and good, satisfying sex is therefore an important component of a happy relationship for you. From what I can tell this fits the character of the wife.
Now, you could argue that because of the "honeymoon" phase of their relationship she was able to overlook these problems but she married him after 2 years and that is imo more than enough time to figure out these problems. It is naive to not address these kinds of problems in a marriage because they don't magically fix themselves.

Secondly, she is naive about her career. Pursuing a career in writing is very challenging and comes with a lot of financial insecurity. The fact that she can even pursue this career is only because the husband provides both of them with a stable (high) income. Obviously, you could imagine that she just stays with him because of that. However, you said multiple times that you don't want her to be perceived as a "bad" or "evil" character and lying to her husband about her true feelings and only staying with him for the money could definitely be considered "bad". I also don't believe this since she does seem to genuinely care for him, which is why I said she comes off as "naive" rather than "bad" or "evil".

Considering that she can't financially support herself as a 25-year-old (even though she has a degree) while being married to a man that can't seem to make her cum makes me think that she has no real reason to appear as confident as she does. Apart from her assumed physical attractiveness she doesn't really have anything going for her, as we have established that she doesn't really come off as particular intelligent. And I assume that's not the way you wanted to portray her.

Thank you very much for explaining what you meant a little bit more. Everything you wrote makes sense to me. My responses below are really just engaging in a mental exercise of solidifying some of this characterization. As a solo developer, getting a decent conceptual discussion with another human helps keep things in perspective for me lol.

I definitely agree with everything here. This is why more than half of all marriages in the US end in divorce. Marriage is mostly committed by naive young people. :)

That second paragraph above is 100% the concept of the game. She was able to overlook the problems for the first few years due to the "honeymoon" phase. The degradation of that phase was accelerated by the pandemic lockdowns that didn't give them a break from each other (no individual "alone time") that I think even healthy couples need to have. Everything kinda came crashing down on her naively happy life and she is trying to address the issues now precisely "because they don't magically fix themselves" and she doesn't want them to keep getting worse.

Of course, it's a porn game, so MC's "brilliant" idea to save his marriage is to have his wife go fuck other people. It's a solid plan. /s

I wouldn't say wanting to write is naivete. If only the wealthy pursued writing careers, we'd have horrible libraries. She definitely benefits from being able to write because of her husband's income, but I think she would probably still be writing and bartending or waiting tables in a studio apartment with three roommates if they weren't married. She was already majoring in literature before she met Christian. Her passion is her passion. But your point is taken, and I actually made a few changes to the text of the preface in the update released earlier today to try to emphasize that she does love him and is not using him for anything.

(Also, I say this as someone who has been writing/publishing professionally in several non-fiction genres since I was a teenager in the mid-1990s. Most people who are driven to write are literally *driven* to do it. Not doing it really isn't an option.)

Considering that she can't financially support herself as a 25-year-old (even though she has a degree) while being married to a man that can't seem to make her cum makes me think that she has no real reason to appear as confident as she does. Confidence is never a logical conclusion. Some of the most confident people I have ever met definitely should not have been so confident if that were the case.

But tbf being a young woman of above average beauty kinda comes with a higher base level of confidence in this society. Comes with the territory. (And the new flashback scene also provides a little bit of additional context for some of this, indirectly.)

Yep and that's why I think that in the long term this is probably not really for me but I will try V2 as I like the structure and the writing. Sorry to say I'm just not into the cuck stuff. Hence I really like your 'In her own hands' game as she's free and can do as she wants. That just needs to build on the lesbian relationship with the Cassidy, have a proper BF option and grow the friend stuff with Abby, 2 of the 3 are already well developed with just the BF option missing.

There is an alternative scenario, as I mentioned in my post yesterday in that he starts making an effort to involve and romance her, which is basically what she's asked him to do. Do stuff together including what the other likes e.g. wife has a go at the games with him and he goes to the gym with her etc. So in essence work at rekindling the 'honeymoon' phase to the extent where she's content. She may still cheat occasionally and undoubtedly feel really guilty about it but...

I am working on adding content into the "Make it work" path. This month's poll is already underway and it looks like the Patrons are leading toward more "cuck stuff"----which is fine for the game----but I do want it to be well-balanced, so I will be putting in some content for just the two of them.

I agree that confidence has an irrational element to it, but at the same time an allegedly intelligent person would be able to reflect on their circumstances (financial dependency etc.) and "stay humble" imo. I also agree that there definitely is a correlation between attractiveness and confidence. My problem was more that she is described as "intelligent" by her husband and by herself so I assumed she could have been able to reflect on her "broader" circumstances. Thanks for providing such a detailed response btw. :)

Bugs:
1. "Monogamy/Cheating" path: The Brian shower scene triggers the Tuesday of the visit. But it jumps straight to the second scene, where the wife intentionally spies and takes photographs. The first shower scene is never shown.

Constructive criticism:
1. The wife's history flashback goes on for too long, which seems quite a bit inelegant. Maybe break this up into spaced out flashbacks. Plus maybe this shouldn't be done as a "meanwhile" & instead incorporated into the story via a conversation with the husband or someone else. Or potentially through a diary or part of a story she is working on.
2. Cheating path: Maybe file this under "bug". Unsure. Three Fridays have passed since the Sunday Brian locates a place and leaves. Wife immediately signed up on Fuckr the Mon after Brian left & cheated that Weds. But the newly extended Shawn story has been dragging on since then with no progress but lunches and gym meets. Either it's not popping (bug or too restrictive design) or it's set up as far too much of a grind, as there's little to no action for way too long.
Parameters of relationship, in case this is a restrictiveness thing:
As of game date Sept 15:
Love: 100/100
Respect: 89/100
Satisfaction: 0/100
Happiness: 62/100
Arousal: 585
Relationship type: "Monogamous - 'try and make it work' ".
Porn search history: Interracial, then cuckold, then Interracial again, in the wife's "meanwhile" guest-room computer scenes while husband is at work.

If this is simply a passage of time thing, where you feel slow progress is more believable, there needs to be some system to remove the grind. (Though if that is the case, I don't agree on slow progress being more believable, considering she did cheat on Fuckr relatively quickly). Implementing some sort of auto-day fast-forward menu with 3 options might make sense here though:
Option 1: Unattentive Husband: Simply fast forward to the next day (or even week). No help cooking, cleaning, pleasing in bed. Go to work as usual.
Option 2: Attentive Husband - Bad in bed: Fast forward with work as usual, helping to cook, clean, taking on dates, massages, talking about her day. But without sexual satisfaction for the wife.
Option 3: Attentive Husband - Good in bed: Same as option 2, but husband actually tries (successfully) to give her at least an orgasm.

Of course, you wouldn't need to program each daily action actually occurring. Instead simply changing day-to-day stats depending on which option was chosen. Key "meanwhile" incidents can still pop when needed and/or hints that maybe "tomorrow" or "this Friday", the husband should be more present and active. Meaning "don't fast forward this one".

I can understand wanting the progression to feel natural. But for the sake of player engagement & good game design, you want to make sure it doesn't feel like a chore, too.

I intentionally made that happen on the Tues but maybe I could push it to Thursday. I didn't want to interfere too much with the "natural" (random) flow of scenes but I kinda liked that one so I decided to hard-code it in. I'll give it some more thought.

I also had this feeling but wanted to wait for player feedback to see a wider variety of experiences. It is definitely a passage of time thing. I don't want it to be overnight but I agree, it's taking too long. I'll shorten it for the next update. I do load up on gym scenes during this transition period, so they are far more likely than usual to come up during the "Meanwhie" scenes. Just not enough though, I think. The number of times to "level up" needs to be lower.

The FuckR date triggering was an oversight on my part, honestly. Logically, I don't think it's a massive deal. A one-time hook-up is a little different from building up an extramarital affair. I will take a look at how it's triggered in these circumstances to see how best to limit this for the next update.

I will also think about those "Options" shortcuts. I have considered doing something similar already. This is a slightly different take from what I had been thinking, but it's not bad and could possibly work.

I hope that the story will be moving ahead somewhat faster over these next couple of updates. I have two plans that should help to pass time in general as well as trigger more scenes more quickly.

No problem. This one has been a bug since the previous build. Where the second shower scene would always trigger before the first and then the first would not trigger. Based on the text of the second scene, it seems like the first should trigger before it. Both would routinely trigger in order on the first build, so however it was set up on the original release seemed more optimal. Or maybe just dumb luck on my first-build playthroughs. I don't know.

One more question: Was Brian/Wife not triggering on the "make it work" path an intentional fix? In the previous build, I could make it happen 100% of the time when the following factors were in play: Wife satisfaction @ or below 33%; Both were blackout drunk; Wife arousal at 1000; Wife saw Cuckold on search history. > Select to fall asleep on the night Brian is over & wife bangs him in the other room.
The prior factors (other than falling asleep, which was required) may or may not have been factors in getting the behavior to reproduce, but I found it to happen every time in that scenario. It was always a one-night thing on the "make it work" path (i.e: would not continue throughout the week) and the text didn't quite line-up right (wife references fucking Brian in the living room, which never happened & there's text about their agreed experimental relationship talk the next day, which never occurred) so I assume it was just a bug. I kind of liked it though. :BootyTime: Just added quick fan-fic scenario in my head where husband was too sloshed to fuck & wife was too drunk & horny to control herself.
