i would suggest a "hint" mechanic for those who are here for the story not googling stuff.
Game started strong in the realy days but turned into ... let's be polite and just say something else.

The thing is, the dev has stated that the sandbox is necessary for the gameplay he intends the game to be. I don't know what it is, but he's adamant about keeping the sandbox element, so it's rather pointless to keep asking about switching back to normal VN, it's quite clear that that's not gonna happen, the dev has his vision and plans to stick to it, so that's it.
A clear walkthrough usually helps navigating to all the scenes/events though, and we do have a walkthrough, it's just not updated to current version. Apart from that just possible bugs should be a mild annoyance to players.
Even though I prefer normal VNs, as long as sandbox VNs have a WT or task system implemented, you won't hear me complaining

Yes! it is the only way but does the dev care? I'd love to know the mad reasoning why free roam was introduced in the first place, how to kill your game in one swift stroke

well its known that devs put sandbox crap to make their games seem longer. 80 images, thats what, 4 scenes, 3-4 min of playing (if it was VN) i guess this is just one more confirmation.
im not a patreon (i havent even played the game since it switched to sandbox) so if anyone is, can he please share what his patreons opinion on this is. here 90% of the posts are complaining about it, but since most dont pay its understandable that dev might not listen, but i doubt that his paying customers have much different opinion

Become a Rock Star also started with some scenes with sandbox. and the 2nd or 3rd update removed them from the game. it is wise to rectify. And now it has some of the best games you can find here.
I have no idea how to make a game. But I guess the easier it is to play, easier to create. With what you can spend time to make more content ..

Why can't people just accept a game for what it is? If you don't like something then walk away. Or better create your own games? Leave creators alone to create what they set out to do. "Backseat creators" seldom work out very well

That is the issue with all sand box games that is a work in progress. Lack of content. So the sand box become better the further you get on with the development. I don't really find VN's that add 5 mins of content every 1-2 months any better tbh.

Sounds like you found this game kinda late. People have walked away, just a few pages of replies after the update dropped says it all. This is a miniscule response compared to the previous updates. People aren't even bothering anymore. It's one of those things where people catch wise. Like when a game company changes their games to better fit gambling mechanics in there. It's not really "creative" decision, people start to see it and bail. Same thing here, the guy switched formats so he could do less each month, it's very transparent.
