... and miss out on the most satisfying moment in the game...? Nah... but knock urself out, I guess... couldn't do that to her no matter how I feel.
In fact I didn't, that decision was stupid since anyone would help her in that moment :ROFLMAO:

im hoping Nyx will have a similar scene for Lucas, so we can enjoy smashing his face in too
Yes this, but then we should see him a few days later and his face looking like beaten swollen mess. So we can appreciate the work we put into it.

Incomplete and in no particular order:

Gabi- probably feels trapped in her marriage and maybe regretting other life choices. She has just had a drunken one night stand with a student. Excellent seeds for real life drama.

Main Character- all kinds of believable familial and interpersonal drama.

Layla- teen bullying issues compounded by existence of principal parent and a crush on the new guy. More realistic drama.

Elena- we’ll call it a busy home life. Super dramatic.

Alexis- feels like she betrayed a friend for love but happy anyway. Very bittersweet and very real drama.

ex/future/possible/whatever stepsisters- enough said. Ohh, so much drama.

Erynn- succumbed to pressure and attended HS prom with blackmailer to avoid teen embarrassment. Ok, it is not the mid 20th century, she wasn't raised into a crazy cult of misogyny and it’s not really consistent with what we know about her mother and upbringing but I’ll accept the need for some more drama and she has to be “intertwined” somewhere... then we go WAY off the rails.

While the “feelings betrayed” backstory totally works from Alexis’ POV it is more than a bit cringy from Erynn’s. A 13 year old child, unseen since, doesn't tend to inspire strong adult emotions in a well adjusted 21/22 year old college student with a home, a job, the ability to feed and care for herself and some life goals. An aspiring math teacher indeed!

We’ll assume Ethan is neither BF Skinner nor Prof. Moriarty. (Based upon his story so far I suspect he’d have to Google them.) Yet he has somehow convinced said well adjusted college junior(?) to perform tasks with what? The same high school social embarrassment? The young woman is a pretty 20 something living alone and off campus, has presumably taken the required childhood development classes and probably some basic psych… She is currently working as a model; which I'm certain has it’s own form of predation education. This character is either a victim of unfortunate rewrites due to plot holes/AVN porn prejudices or there is so much to be revealed that speculating upon her psychopathy is useless.

21/22 year old college students are not 17/18 yr old HS kids. One goes from a few hundred peers in forced social groups and seclusion into a wide world of new ideas and thousands of disparate people. Add to that a professional life and well...

Now, I’ll allow that there are great differences in what is personally considered romantic. Dirty Dancing was a huge movie when I was a kid and it can be either a sweet love story or a study in 1950’s statutory rape laws based upon one’s perception… And those Shade novels, geezus. Either way, unless alien mind control exists or this tape has her sucking down coke off a murdered homeless person while choking adorable puppies I am not seeing it as anything other than UNreal life drama.

I truly don't hate the Erynn character. It's like she was written for a totally different story. I think she is currently very inconsistent and completely out of place within this, so far, very clever and engaging tale.
It does seem like she gets the shit end of the stick with how much more "dramatic" her drama is compared to the others...
But it also makes her story the deepest one, one that involves trauma, dealing with expectations, depression...

Good thing this is a game and you can have both a happy fun romp with cute, adorable, horny Layla.
And then switch saves to the highly empathetic and emotional story of Erynn.

Or maybe Nyx is just winding up before throwing a ton of shit on the girls lol.

Disclaimer, I only did one play through with some back and forth to test different outcome, but I always tried to ignore Erynn. I did it because the whole premise is about a guy that had a crush on a girl and that she did something bad enough for him to decide to go away for 5 years to ignore her.

First problem with Erynn, is a writing problem, there is 2 flaws to her character. Like a lot of people already state, you never see her as a good friend. If you try to ignore her from start, the only good thing she's doing is letting you sleep on her couch, I would have prefer to go somewhere else anyway. You know from comments(Mom, Melissa) that she was a good friend and MC acknowledge that she was before the 13th birthday event, but you don't see those moments. The MC said he had a crush on her, but you don't really see any building toward that crush or why he had a crush on her. It's something you should take by default. Being told someone is good will never have the same impact has seeing a scene were that person is good.

In defense of the dev, I understand it's not something easy to establish a character with a past with an MC if that past is not really part of the game. I think if the game started with the MC in plane thinking about his friendship with Erynn in detail(multiple scene building the crush of the mc to Erynn) until the 13th birthday. The moment the player will see her for the first time, there is a bigger chance that the player want to speak to her to get an explanation. That a lot of work and I'm not sure a lot of people would have cared so much about it, I mean reading the thread, Erynn is one the favorite LI, so maybe the dev was right not doing it, but I think the depth of her character/firendship suffer from it.

Second problem, the dev seem to want to paint her as a damsel in distress archetype LI. the problem is the situation is lacking because like many others told before, the blackmailing could have been resolve pretty easily in the past. Come on, he told her he would delete the sextape if she went to prom with him and he didn't do it. Why would you indulge him in the future, you know he will never stop. She should let the sextape come out, I mean who care, she's fucking with her boyfriend of the time, nothing crazy. She was not cheating, she was not part of a kink that society will not accept. All that is explain by her being scared of not being able to become a teacher if that came out(really?)...So she think it's better to be force into being an escort(non-sexual)and being abuse then loosing a chance at her "dream job" of being a simple teacher?

Another thing about her, after the 13th birthday, the MC ignore her and go away for 5 years without any attempts of giving news to her, taking her calls or replying to her letter(s?). For some reason she still expect that the MC will come back and be her best friend. Even after learning from Melissa that the MC wasn't interested to meet her, she still expect him to drop his friends to spend some time with her at the club. This is something that I find annoying about her. I do understand that she want to build back the relationship, but take you time, the guy isn't ready yet and she should have understand it by now.

The way the story is told is problematic too, I like non-linear story telling in movies and book, but in interactive story there is a problem, because you end up taking decision without knowing thing you should know. When you are in the plane and decide to fuck Lexi, you don't know that you were in love with Nikki(my play through) at that moment. So when you end up explaining to Erynn what happened in Riverside, you end up like an asshole if you went for one of the girls... because it's mean you fuck the first woman you meet right after leaving the one you loved...but you didn't knew that when you took the decision of fucking Lexi. That not a major problem because I don't remind any other occurrence of such later in the game.

How is she not shown as good friend? When he runs into her at the bar she immediately wants to talk to the MC, and he blows her off. If he stays with her at the club she wants him to crash at her place and catch up, and either way she shows up at his house the next morning. She invites him to come swimming with her when he's doing yard work at her moms house. She clearly wants to spend time with the MC, she is interested in finding out what he's been up to. She is happy to have him back, and immediately goes right back to being friends. When Melissa calls her after the fight with his mom, she leaves school to go find him. She clearly cares about him.

Avoiding her doesn't make her a shitty friend. it makes the MC one.

EDIT: Also...

You blame Erynn for like, every stupid, bratty decision the MC makes. She didn't make him act up so badly his mom sent him to live with his father. She didn't make him cut contact with her. He also didn't tell Melissa he didn't want to see her, he said not to tell her so he could surprise her.

She lost her friend, and he came back. She's excited to see him. Your options are to be friends with her, or continue pitching a fit that started when he was 13 years old. This shit is entirely on him.

true, also she drops everything to go to the MC after Emily drops the dad bomb on him, takes him clothes shopping, lets him stay over at her apartment on more then 1 occasion, drives him home and to school and also shows she can be a wifey type when she makes him sandwiches, so im not sure how anyone can say shes a bad friend even in the flashback its shown she was still being a good friend by shouting at Ethan

she did something bad enough for him to decide to go away for 5 years to ignore her.
also the MC never decided to go away he was sent away by his mom because he was getting to much to handle for her

She isn't a believable character. Maybe its rewrites or maybe she hasn't been “revealed” yet. She cannot be both a proud, confident, career-minded and independent young woman and a broken little girl in need of saving; concurrently. Consecutively? Absolutely. That’s not the story. Though, now that I write that, I kinda wish it was.

There’s a host of horrible sociological and psychological issues that make one surrender one’s will to another. There is no Stockholm Syndrome without the bank. An old recording of high school sex of an otherwise mature adult with a stable support system? Sure. Totally the same thing as a trapped and abused mother of 3 or extra tight Uncle hugs throughout childhood.

That’s the whole crust of the biscuit. All the characters may have the drama turned to 11 but it’s believable. “Erynn” isn’t consistent within her own story, so far, and it’s got nothing to do with friends or a flower.

I like Sienna model, but she has a boyfriend. I don't believe she will be a LI, unless she breaks up (MC isn't the reason), but it will be crazy, cause she is Layla and Elena's friend, and Lexi is Layla's sister, lol. And I hope Zach starts something with Valeria, he deserves a nice and beautiful girl.
So a foursome with MC, Layla, Elena and Sienna??!!
Just kidding but that's the way my (sometimes) over-active imagination works.

(And because some people on here are SO literal, no - there has been ZERO indication of any likelihood in the game of 3-somes, 4-somes etc, but I am still going to fantasize about them in quiet moments).

There is fair criticism to be made about how she went about confronting her blackmail lacks logic...
But that's the point i think, her problems are a lot more on the psychological side, the life of a person who is suppoused to be "perfect" and gets caught up in an ever growing snow ball of shit.
How we are gonna get the tape back isn't really important, the real important question is, can this person be happy again?

And yes it would probably help make us a lot more attached to her if we could play the initial memories in the same way we can play the Nikki flashback, however, it would ruin the tension and the later reveal...

How is she not shown as good friend?
You right, she try to act has a good friend toward the MC and when I wrote:
you never see her as a good friend
I was meaning in the past, because the whole foundation of the friendship is base on there youth not the current time. She never had a chance to grow on me, because the first impression is the one the MC depict her in the plane. Then she try to impose herself on the mc at the club, then she force herself in mc room because she still didn't get that you are not her friend any more. The fact that I didn't had any other choice than going to her apartment was out of my hand.

Avoiding her doesn't make her a shitty friend. It makes the MC one.
I don't consider someone I ignored for 5 years a friend. Forcing yourself on someone not interested is not being a good friend, it's being obsessive.... She coming to hard on him.

Reading your comment I start to see that the reason I don't like her is the reason why you like her. You seem to find appealing her dedication and I find it oppressive.

also the MC never decided to go away he was sent away by his mom because he was getting to much to handle for her
Right, but in the end it doesn't change much toward the friendship with Erynn. She did something bad enough for him to decide to remove her from his life for 5 years.

I went back in the game to replay some part and yes, my first impression of her was harsher than it should have been.

Wow... simply wow.
I was puzzling when I saw the choice with "Why is even a choice there? Who the fuck would let their childhood friend, or frankly any woman, being beat up on a street without at least telling the asshole to butt off?"
I guess I now have my answer.

There are better ways to break off a relationship or keep it non-romantic by ignoring a woman being beat up in an alley.

Right, but in the end it doesn't change much toward the friendship with Erynn. She did something bad enough for him to decide to remove her from his life for 5 years.
But all of this went on in the MCs head. She didn't do anything bad. There was a some awkardness and a misunderstanding, and then the incident with Ethan shoving him, and he went off the rails. This is someone she's known most of her life, practically family, and she didn't give up on him at the first sign of adversity, but he did. The Erynn/MC relationship issues are entirely the MCs fault, and she's not even really aware of what the problem is up until he finally brings it up to her.

EDIT: The worst thing she did was start spending more time with her other friends, which made him feel like he was losing her, and led him to creating the situation that caused the embarassment and misunderstanding out of desperation, I'd give him a pass on this because, hey, he's 13, he's not fully equipped to deal with these sorts of things yet, but his actions afterwards are ridiculous. A total scorched earth policy.

You say that, but where did that come from? The totally loving and laid back mother figure is secretly the stereotypical Asian mother?!

All the toons in this VN act/react within the scope of their own story. The Layla beach thing, Gabi’s post drunken hookup reactions, everything to do with Alexis… etc

Look at Erynn. The way she entered Alexis’ bar, all emotion, but from where? That was real rage. The park scene. That hug and cryptic whisper… She hadn't really seen him since he was a child. What could possibly be the cause that? Then no-show. And the biggie; reveal your darkest secret… then kiss? “let’s go to the bed.” Really? That’s an honest human reaction to trauma? There are several more but I’m NOT looking to nitpick Nyx’s work.

All I am saying is that she has jumped the rails as a fully developed character. It’s like she’s become a literary device to reinforce other characters/situations to make them believable and along the way lost a story of her own.

From the outside one would look and see that despite being the daughter of a single mom, who is only a hairstylist, she's the prettiest(your personal opinion isn't important here, in universe she's suppoused to be stunning), she's the good student, she's a model, she wears expensive clothes, at age 20 she has her own apartment midtown and car which weren't mommys gift... from the outside she's perfect, everybody that looks at her thinks she has the perfect life.
Never said this pressure comes from her mom, she is quite the free spirit i agree, she won't care at all and just support her.

The rage on Alexis? Felt backstabbed by one of the few people she trusts.
No show at the park? The guy who blackmails her demanded to speak to her... that's a pretty easy read.
The last scene, she opens her heart to a guy that (if you are playing your cards right) she's very attracted and attached to, he takes the news way better than she predicted and is very supportive her, in the emotion she ends going for the kiss, i don't see anything wrong with it...

Then conflicting emotions come into play i guess, she wants him, but her past sexual experiences have left her hurt to this day, and she wants their first time together to be (again) "perfect".

She hasn't given up on her hopes of reuniting with her childhood friend, but at the same time she believes she will find the exact same relationship at the top as friendship was before the incident, that delusional.

Her mother told her he wanted to surprise her, but he didn't do anything to get in contact with her and when she meet him at the club, the awkwardness was in the roof. So the best course of action is obviously to "ambush" him in his room... It's just too intense for me.
