The issue is the ultimatum is the reason the rift between Emily and Santi was so prevalent, to the point that Santi realised she wanted to keep his baby and her new/old boyfriend would be helping her raise it. It's not about Emily's situation, it was her choice at the behest of her man that caused the issues. I won't fault Santi for reading the bright neon "fuck off" signs that Emily was clearly projecting and him actually doing it. His son would have a mother, a father figure and no messy upbringing because he opted to drag his baby mother through court.
And I will, I've already mentioned why. Besides, Emily removed those signs later anyway.
In other words, he let others do all the work. Off he goes! Also, what's the court if we take the situation after the divorce? What you're justifying Santi's absence with had already happened by then. Do you still think Santi would fail to gain the MC's sympathy and irreparably damage his relations with Emily?

Nah, post-divorce it was still salvageable, because MC wasn't adult yet, soon to be entering teenage years - a very difficult life stage. Guiding MC through it would redeem Santi in my eyes. He only turned unforgivable to me after MC turned 18 while Santi himself turned out to not have other kids.
I can agree with you that Santiago shouldn't have done it on his own. But he could've and should've persuaded Emily to do it, now that Andres was out of the picture.
And I see Santiago as an irresponsible fuckboy who pumped and dumped, then became mildly concerned about the result, got satisfied that some other people will do the work for him, and went on to have a life of luxury and pleasure, completely removing the human being most important to him - the MC - from his life.
You know what would make his teenage years more difficult than your parents going through a divorce? Finding out that your father isn't your father and your parents have been lying to you all your life, as well as them divorcing.
That's a weird way to say "He was ghosted by a girl he dated, who happened to get pregnant and he moved on after months of no contact". Once again, a result of an ultimatum set by someone who should've had no say in the matter.

Here, I can agree with you. At that very moment, Andres and Emily made a really stupid decision. The smart ones would be for the former to keep his emotions in check and ignore the situation, and for the latter to just accept the parents' deal (unless it was bad for her health, in that case she should've been more assertive with Santi).
