After watching penguinz0's vids about AI voice, do you think this will work in the future? Cause that shit was scary human like
I honestly feel like we're on the fast track to some of this stuff being made illegal since we just don't know how to deal with it right now.

I'm curious to what you think could be made illegal.

Expanding copyright or trademark laws to include voices would be close to impossible. It's the same with particular styles of art: it can't be done.

Copyright already protects a combination of things that make a character or trademarked entity unique, however with provisions for Fair Use, derivative art, commentary and parody. Fair Use has come into play in most court cases since the late 90's, where Disney (porn), Dallas Cowboys (Cheerleader porn parodies), and many others have lost... while Hustler (parody & social commentary), Google (Fair Use of data for book scraping) have won.

When it comes to deep-fakes of actual people, identity theft and dignity protection laws (EU) already have this covered. Although it rarely ever goes to court, because most (all?) of the infractions are underground i.e. forums like these or private discord servers. Deep-fakes are older than than the Internet itself.

Private companies on the other hand, like YouTube, Twitter, PayPal or MastCard/Visa, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion (official) may ban certain activities whenever and for whatever reason they want to. Or are told to by investors, advertisers, and/or governmental persuasion.

I expect a lot of complaining, hair-pulling, and rage protests, but whether actual laws get changed, I doubt it.

But being "underground" is gonna be a wild ride for sure, and I can't wait for it!

i've already read about 2D artists having work ripped off after being run through AI stuff and someone else passing it off as their own, but as for this, 3D stuff or even voice more specifically im not too concerned at the moment, a real person will always have more range than AI. I got no idea about legality issue.. all i know is any big corpo wants to own everything they possibly can when it comes to their ip's and wouldnt be surprised if they started to include voiced dialogue too somehow.

My only worry is japan being even more cheap when it comes to english dub's for anime/video games in that it just deploys ai recorded voices, on the other hand dubs are so bad mostly it prolly cant be any worse when i think about it. (not including sqenix or capcom here i guess when it comes to video games but FF Origin sounded cringe, fuck chaos )

Jackerman more like Delayman

Edit: I like Jackerman and his stuff and i think hes one of the best 3D smut makers out there, but its just funny how he runs into problems for each short XD

Like Charlie said people can use it to destroy someone life and even if it is proven to be fake, the damage is already done.
Just like false r**e accusation, that shit will not go away.

I've been following development in AI and ML for the last couple of years. The one thing that bothers me most is artists claiming copyright infringement for others copying their styles, which can not be copyrighted.

As far as I've seen and am aware of, there has not been any "exact" copies of AI art created, even if you use the artist name in the prompt and AI IMG2TXT to get as close to the prompt as possible. Some people like to point to "arab girl portrait with green eyes" from a NatGeo cover years ago, however while almost exact and clearly the girl from the original, again, it is not exact AND it's not "art". The girl is a "celebrity" just like many other well known faces i.e. celebrities.

As for people claiming copyright of an AI gen, it's already been decided that at this point in time, at least in the US, AI i.e. machine-generated art can NOT be copyrighted and is not protected, because machines can't be copyright-holders (yet?).

The studios will certainly try to protect their assets, and I fully expect them to. However, considering all of the top tech companies incl. Google, Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, IBM and a number of other major investors with many 100's of billions already invested, I think the studios will hold off. Possibly because they will also save millions of dollars by not paying creatives to do the grunt work.

Japan will definitely put AI to use as much as possible across the board for Anime productions. It's also why I believe there are so many StableDiffusion models currently doing anime. Waifu Diff is crazy good already.

Every singe Voice-AI company has ethics pages that people looking to create deep-fakes should read. If only to keep themselves out of jail. "I didn't know" is not going to be a legal defense.

"ElevenLabs claims it "always had the ability to trace any generated audio clip back to a specific user." Next week it will release a tool that will allow anyone to confirm that a clip was generated using its technology and report it.

The company says that the malicious content was created by "free anonymous accounts," so it will add a new layer of identity verification. Voice Lab will be made available only on paid tiers, and immediately remove the free version from its site. ElevenLabs are currently tracking and banning any account that creates harmful content in violation of its policies."

Microsoft's VALL-E (voice) is similar to ElevenLabs, and they also have the ability to tell whether a voice recording is AI generated. Anyone being accused of saying something they didn't, will be able to prove it.

Regardless of any specifics, we are fast approaching – or are already at the point – of not being able to believe our eyes and ears unless we witnessed something live ourselves. Funny thing is, there have been studies throughout the years asking people to describe or recall what they've just witnessed (like a car accident), and many times the researchers have received as many different answers as the number of people asked.

Finally, as with everything technology-based, it can be used for good and for bad. Bad actors will always find a way, and many people will be harmed by them, with or without technology IMO. Anyone that has lived through the games/music/social media/internet/wifi/2G-5G/porn-is-bad pogroms because of a few bad actors along the fringes, knows that AI/ML is just another opportunity for "fear-mongering", and others with an agenda to try and take control of us. It's the human dilemma.

Jackerman more like Delayman

Edit: I like Jackerman and his stuff and i think hes one of the best 3D smut makers out there, but its just funny how he runs into problems for each short XD
I feel that mostly boils down to the details and the new things he learns each short. If you want just a quick fap with a bunch of looping fugging, 26Region is right over there. And its not like he paywalls this stuff anyway, it comes out publicly a few days later, so I don't see the need to complain about what's essentially free quality smut.

Side note...the heck is with the last page of AI chatter? Kinda off topic here. We know the date window moved, so maybe just chill and enjoy something else til then?
