First off, we never knew the “original nature” of Kane, that’s why in the beginning of the game, we have the option to choose what type of individual he will be: Good, Evil , Dom, Sub… I thought that was self explanatory… in my point of bias, I can say that the dom route is an artificial construct, and was never inclined to be dominant…I will figure out how to write my posts myself, I don't need your help. And your childish grudges against Callista are ridiculous, as I've written about many times. The fact that subKane is an idiot who decided to cave in and become a lowly worm has only himself to blame. On the other hand, I emphasize the original nature of Kane, who was never inclined to be submissive and believe (not unreasonably) that Sub route is an artificial construct. There was a lot of discussion of this topic here at one time, you should remember that.
All we know from all the game history available to us is that Callista was a good mother and did her best to raise and educate Kane and Olivia (everything else is your fantasy). So she can't be bad by default. Or do you think she trained Kane from childhood to crawl on the floor and grovel before sadistic bitches? (lol). No, Kane lived in a normal atmosphere and grew up a well-educated, thinking and confident guy who loves his family and is willing to protect them, which he did by standing up for Seth. So there are more questions to Tess herself, why all of a sudden a confident and even tough guy (not tortured and starved) suddenly decided to play submissive (at the player's will), which didn't fit his nature at all.
A friend offered to give me a KotOR game (which I've never played), Sharpshooter recommends the first and you recommend the second (you're a Sith at heart), so I demand to get both .2...always...always 2.
Yes...we do really. There are flashbacks which show how Kane reacts, how he talks, how he 'is'....and sorry Silver, I love you man, but he ain't submissive by nature. That's player choice. I'll say it again, yes Tess, like myself, is a Dom...but this story is not a femdom story at heart and at it's core, it's been turned into one. It's a false fallacy. A very well done one yes...but not the default. Please don't be angry.First off, we never knew the “original nature” of Kane, that’s why in the beginning of the game, we have the option to choose what type of individual he will be: Good, Evil , Dom, Sub… I thought that was self explanatory… in my point of bias, I can say that the dom route is an artificial construct, and was never inclined to be dominant…
Again, yes we do...the Seth incident is proof of that. No supposition, no opinion, no rose-tinted....plain facts presented in the story which cannot be argued with or refuted. For all we know, Kane grew up normally yes, but when facing a situation in which was forced onto him, we don’t know how he would react,
Agree completely with that.Clearly Kane wasn’t trained nor informed Because of the preset values of what Alexander was looking for, The Sperm/Genetic code on wanting a Male Heir of the Karlsson Group, in Which by bad judgement in my Opinion, Callista didn’t tell Kane about But decided to try and hid him from the inevitable…
Careful...wandering dangerously into the realms of stating facts when they are not. It still remains to be clarified....exactly what Olvia was told/knows and by whom. Once again, when discussing, be clear with facts...as presented in the story...and what are our assumptions and opinions. I still believe (until proven otherwise in the story) Olivia knows far...far more than we are aware of as the player. I still also believe she knew about all the sisters (suggest re-reading the conversation at the helicopter with Caliista) and still believe she met Alexander.Callista did give some information and training of some kind to Olivia but never had given her the full truth/story of why…
The first is a great game..however, the second is superior in writing, story, characters and gameplay.A friend offered to give me a KotOR game (which I've never played), Sharpshooter recommends the first and you recommend the second (you're a Sith at heart), so I demand to get both .
It doesn’t show he’s dominant either, the flashbacks just show of him talking normally, not any other point of reference shows him of being dominant nor submissive In nature… it just shows him as an average person in those specific situations at hand. Even more, the drastic situation that he finds himself in and how he’s gotten up to the point of the player taking control, brings things outta people in which they never knew they had… obviously it’s the player choice on how to react to that situation because in real life, that’s what happens… people react/handle things differentlyThis has always been a divisive subject and I think most of us regulars knpow each others pov's, however, interesting if new people read this stuff so:

Also, as a final thought, this is a great thread, let's keep it civil guys
One is better than 2. But, that doesn't mean 2 is bad. Ps just don't forget to install the fan patches and bug fixesA friend offered to give me a KotOR game (which I've never played), Sharpshooter recommends the first and you recommend the second (you're a Sith at heart), so I demand to get both .
I wish they made games like Kotor more… wish games in general were better… tho I did here that path of exile 2 is really good if your into ARPGsA friend offered to give me a KotOR game (which I've never played), Sharpshooter recommends the first and you recommend the second (you're a Sith at heart), so I demand to get both .
I was steering clear of this conversation but, you hooked me a bit on this one statement. One of the reasons that I consider KG to be one of the two best written AVN's on this site has nothing to do with dom/sub, kink/genre. What I like most about Tess' story is that I do know how Kane will react. My Kane reacts the way I want him to and yours reacts the way you want him too; and best of all, they may be totally different people... You reminded me with that image of the idea discussed here that each mask represents a character and that they are a spoiler at the beginning of each chapter. Especially when you replay the chapters .Callista is the Gambit Queen, and this is no longer our speculation, but official information. And it shouldn't be a secret to you if you've played Ep8 pt1. Tess even named the Ep8 pt1 after her.

No, I'm only interested in games that end at some point and not with an eternal late game like PoE, which creates a lot of addiction.I wish they made games like Kotor more… wish games in general were better… tho I did here that path of exile 2 is really good if your into ARPGs
there is so much going on in karlssons gambit bro i dont even know what yall are talking about
Some of us here...perhaps myself...maybe...kind of...who knows *shrugs*...are a little obsessed with this story heheh and have disected it (yeah Ok I definitely have) to the n'th degree.there is so much going on in karlssons gambit bro i dont even know what yall are talking about
Yeah..You are right, we must once again thank Maviarab for the titanic and painstaking work he has done. You reminded me with that image of the idea discussed here that each mask represents a character and that they are a spoiler at the beginning of each chapter. Alright ladies and gentlemen: Further to the conversation started here...
So we now have 8 Chapter Screens...6 new masks from the last time this was discussed (though some of those could be a replacement for some lost assets by Tess). We shall see. Some interesting theories going back over the convo when I was on my hiatus...so have been doing more research on this...much more...
So...masks per episode:

Using my Timeline and taking all the chapter cards into consideration (and their placement):

Let's see what we can conjure:
Ep.2: Callista, Main overarching central character essential to the plot. (also main game theme image of Tess too). Seth is iontroduced and while not a central character, he seems to be central to the overall plot. Kiyomi (not introduced yet as per Tess' commentary of one mask that partially or in whole represents someone not formally introduced in the game yet), is watching over him.
Ep.3: Placement of the masks does mostly match up with the major events of this episode.
Ep.4: Placement mostly matches....Jules & Dom still apart, Elena over Olivia with Alessa and Veronica either side. Kiyomi watching over Seth with wildcard Katsumi off to their side.
Ep.5: An interesting one. Dom & Jules meet to discuss the threat of Olivia (Masks together)...Red Tips meets with the Gambit Queen, Elena inbetween Olivia and Kane (they both meet Elena privately this episode). Kiyomi again watching over Seth. Jester mask in the eye of the Red Queen though...hmm...just don't see the connection...
Ep.6: Three new masks. We also have the introduction of the DeKcoks, Cole himself and Astrid Karlsson...Olivia central in the Chapter Card with relevent characters around her. Most of this fits or can be made to fit chapter events. Mostly.
Ep.7: Two new masks this time, the three new from Ep.6 also return. 16 masks on this Chapter card. For the first time, Veronica and Alessa are split, Kane and Olivia either side of Veronica. Jules & Dom are next to Olivia and Alessa splits Seth/Kiyomi for their fist time being split also (makes sense). Elena is once again between Olivia and Callista with a new mask now between Kane and Callista (Cynthia perhaps) and a new mask below and off to the right of Veronica near Olivia. Could this be Astrid's mask???
Which leaves us here:

Now:
For Ep.2:
If Seth is the 'not formally introduced Character'...then Orange shadows can't be Kiyomi....
If Red Queen is the not formally introuduced character...that still throws doubt on Orange Shadow...
Or...if Kiyomi is the not formally introduced character...is Red Queen just there as 1. Main game image and/or 2. Callista being the over-arching central main character of the story? (Seth is introduced in Ep.2)
Other thoughts:
Both Nadia & Cole could fit a few of these....
- Katsumi as Jester/Joker often fits...but Ep.5 Chapter card makes zero sense....or does it?
- New mask for Ep.7 between Kane and Callista....phantom & Feathers mask off to the left of this new mask..between Kane and Callista with butterfly from Ep.6 far to the left instead of near Olivia
- Ep.6: New faces, Cole, DeKock family members & Otto
- Ep.7: New faces are Pod W2 and Astrid & Cole confirmed Kanes father
- Feathers: Symbolizes trust, honor, strength, wisdom, power, and freedom. It is an object that is deeply revered and a sign of high honor
- Butterfly: In some cultures, butterflies symbolise rebirth.
- Phantom Mask: Symbolizes his vulnerability and the injustice he suffers from (from Phantom Opera)
- Bird Mask: A symbol of death and disease… However, they were misunderstood; they were harbingers of new beginnings
Sooo....thoughts on Cole, Cynthia...Otto maybe? Is Delilah going to be a significant enough character to warrant a mask? Coming back around to Ep.5 Chapter card...possible Katsumi mask behind/in the eyes of Callista, the game show is referenced first in Chapter 5 here:
Code:p "Nice to meet you Hyori, and good luck with your application." scene e5fashplan10 with mediumdissolve hyori "Thank you! I'm applying to help out with entertainment planning for a game show here, so I'm really hoping I can get the job!" p "(Game show?) Good luck to you."
Now, as Tess stated: 3) A mask (or more than one mask on screen) is not always an exact 1 to 1 representation of a character (mostly it makes sense it would be though), perhaps it could represent something broader than one specific character.. could this perhaps be a reference to something broader, something largely out of Callista's hands and something she would not originally have known about...like the game show..??
I have one question... Does time pass at a slower rate where you are? Where the hell do you find enough of it to do all this? This isn't even the only thread you are this active in... You have way too much energy to be a normal human, my friend... Awww shucks...make me blush...it was a damn fine post though wasn't it, even if I do say so myself hahahaha.Yeah..You are right, we must once again thank Maviarab for the titanic and painstaking work he has done.
To give a little info (not exactly private info I guess), my afternoons and evenings are largely my own. I'm effectively (thankfully) retired early and I also look after/care for my mother full time. It affords me a lot of time to think, theorise...and yes, do shit like excel sheets for masks and walkthroughs for other VN's hehe. I also use multiple monitors so do important stuff on my main screen (or watch sometyhing, have a game running etc) while I have browsers open on a seperate one. That and quite frankly...because I can and have the time and find stuff like save sheets/walthroughs/creating the mask post that Stan linked interesting...keeps the brain activeI have one question... With any luck, with the new update, we can nail down some more names to the masks I was stull unsure about. Still doesn't help that she introduced new ones for old lost ones...bit hard to truly figure them all out.
