you need to equip the axe

Yes, you need to have the axe equipped. At the moment you cannot chop down more trees than the ones on the first mission.

That might change in the future for the second part/chapter of the game, where the settlement building will be important.

There is a marker where the building will turn green.

Good start, has potential from the little bit I played. However the quest markers were not there all the time which was difficult. I am unable to find Clive for the wine.

I cannot leave Clive house after repairing the fence, once I get close to the door they are getting closed.

Yes, that was a bug that the requirements for that mission somehoe are not being met.

Can you check in the quest journal if one of the following missions is missing?

Iron Supplies o Missing Daughter.

Shoot, I went ahead and played the QuickBuild fix before I saw this. I know that I had already completed Missing Daughter. I believe I did Iron Supplies after receiving the QuickBuild?

Iron supplies comes in the middle of the 3rd quest, the one called Find the Creek. But It seems there is an error in there, that I need to sort out.
