While playing (starting again, as my old save was incompatible with the new version), I still find I have no idea "how" to play this game, as mentioned before. When leveling skills, am I supposed to focus on a single skill until it reaches the next "tier" (the lines that divide the skill bars, where your starting skills start filled to) in order for it to do anything and making any training until I reach that tier meaningless, or is a half-trained skill enough to pass certain checks or improve certain results? Is there a malus to your training results if you over-specialise in one skill to encourage you to spread your training around a bit, or is there nothing discouraging you from spending all day, every day training the same skills over and over? And with the randomness of events, which skills DO I actually need and which are meaningless and useless? As I mentioned before, it feels like a strategy game where you're having to make all your decisions completely blind, especially since we don't get told in enough detail what real, tangible effects the skills actually have beyond some of them letting you pass or fail certain event checks.
If you talk to the old man, he gives you some general hints. By my own experience, the optimal path is training administration to at least level 2-3 ASAP because there will be a problem in your treasury after the nobles start coming back that can only be solved if you have a high enough administration (if you start with the steward class it's easier). Raise taxes from nobles and merchants early too so you have more money, then use that money to invest in the buildings inside town so you can get even more money in return and peasant levies for your army. After you have your income somewhat balanced, start training the trade skill so you can get more options to invest in the town and a bigger income from the merchant taxes, after that you can pretty much do whatever you want. Do try to keep your reputation balanced so none of the bars hit rock bottom, or there will be revolts and those are pretty hard to deal with.

Elizabeth is named Evelyn in the choice.

Viking lady never showed up

Sister doesn't seem to exist.

This is on a fresh save using Baron, went Steward/wise to start, maxed steward and diplo first. I guess romanced the queen.

Fear is almost locked at bottom of red, yet I didn't do anything fearful, and have removed most taxes for a long while. All infrastructure is maxed. and renown never really increases, seems like it is bugged at 0.

The game looks fun and well written, I dont like the artstyle to be completely honest but I enjoyed playing.

Will keep my eyes on this one.

It's not really necessary to fill any of the dividers. Especially since the skill checks become easier to pass in the lower difficulties.

There's nothing stopping you from training the same skill again and again. Some sort of malus sounds interesting but also kind of sadistic so I don't see myself adding that at the moment.

Next update I'm cutting some of the skills that don't do much or anything at all. So from now on all of them will have some use outside of skill checks, even if some more than others. I did add some tooltips for some of the categories, but I'll try to add tooltips to all the skills so anyone can check what the skills do outside of skill checks.

Whoops. Thanks for letting me know.

I'm still trying to balance her event, sorry for that.

The older or the younger one? The older one doesn't have any content at the moment.

The number under renown is the passive gain, not the actual renown. Sorry if it wasn't clear enough.

Haha maybe one day I'll hire an actual artist.

Thanks for checking it out.

You need to increase strength, history, and language. After that you just wait for the event with the northern raiders.
I've maxed all stats, and I remember seeing something about the raiders but nothing triggered. That or maybe I missed the event or picked a wrong option. I think I picked something along the lines of them respecting strength, so that's what we'll meet them with.

Is it the one where they're stealing men? The event is a bit longer than the usual events.

I remember that being brought up, but it was a while ago. I've since managed to pass every edict while upsetting nobody, and max out all structures, including clearing the forests for more farmland and re-opening the mine. Is the raider missable? I'm pretty sure I fought the battle for it and I was thinking "Oh this is the raider battle! I better take on captives so I can capture her", but nothing happened. Did I need to lead the battle personally? I was using a captain instead of myself for a while so I didn't know the difference.

I started a new file assuming it was beyond salvation, and the raider event triggered once, but I loaded the save to avoid it because I wasn't ready. Now I'm on week 300+ with max everything and it won't trigger again. I also only recently got the witch event to trigger, so I'm guessing it just has low odds right now for some reason, or there's an event which blocks it from triggering that I'm unaware of.

I'm pretty sure that you have to personally lead the attack against them, but choose to fight the leader one-on-one instead of having your armies clash. That option should pop-up if you have enough history and foreign languages knowledge IIRC, and you need a lot of strength to beat the leader too

Gonna try, but I made a third file and I'm on week 148, no prompts this time. Also playing on a higher difficulty so getting these skills is taking even longer (strength is max, working on Linguistics). At this point I'm convinced that they just don't trigger if you reach a certain power threshold. In all 3 files, they trigger within the first year, or don't come at all, which seems at odds with their description as one would think they would be drawn to a powerful kingdom for more powerful men.

Edit: I got curious and slapped my save into the save editor a few times to check some changing variables and I noticed the oddest thing. It seems sometimes when you save and load, the displayed variable change. Sometimes I can see the total gold, sometimes I can't. Sometimes I can see various stats. Sometimes I can see my troop counts. They seem to change randomly. I'm beginning to wonder if some stats also turn invisible to Renpy as well, hence why the northern raiders didn't trigger at all in save 3. I'm gonna experiment with this line and load every so often.

Edit2: Didn't work, was a shot in the dark anyway.

Sorry it was so terse. I have played this game over a few of its releases. So I know there is a scene where you meet the sister near the animals and has its own love story thing. I literally never saw the sister once in this new save. So for some reason she didn't exist, similar with that Viking lady (the one who comes to warn you), the event just didn't happen. I was able to max skills, max my region. Yet nothing seemed to happen story wise.

Please no... Unless the artist uses the same style.

The art is great, it's different, unique.

Love this game, the art, the story, the gameplay. It has so much potential.

If making a "tutorial" proves to be too difficult or annoying, just make tooltips for every major thing.

I simply cannot wait for more content! Very promising project, congratulations!

Oh and... See you on SubcribeStar!
