is there really any point to keeping the Steam version paid when they're releasing the code for free now?Like the game itself, it's also open source and freely available on github.

still . . . what's the point of keeping it paid if we can freely download and compile the game ourselves?Support!
Support. There is not some deep meaning to this. That's literally it. Eventually it might even get workshop, who knows.still . . . what's the point of keeping it paid if we can freely download and compile the game ourselves?
Supporting the dev, and not having to compile it yourself, also lessens the risk of bugs being introduced due to user error when compiling it oneself.still . . . what's the point of keeping it paid if we can freely download and compile the game ourselves?
if supporting the dev is only reason the Steam version is still paid THEN THAT'S WHAT PATREON IS FOR!!!Support. There is not some deep meaning to this. That's literally it. Eventually it might even get workshop, who knows.
Convenience.if supporting the dev is only reason the Steam version is still paid THEN THAT'S WHAT PATREON IS FOR!!!
still, the Steam version doesn't have to be paid for that when Patreon works just as wellConvenience.
Patreon is a subscription service that isn't useful for game development. The dev of KK also isn't a greedy asshole like pretty much 90% of other patreon devs. This is an example of early access done right. You pay one price to get the game and ALL future updates.still, the Steam version doesn't have to be paid for that when Patreon works just as well
Patreon isn't even close to being as convenient as steam and plenty of people don't like like or trust it outright.still, the Steam version doesn't have to be paid for that when Patreon works just as well
They can put it where they want to and don't have to explain.if supporting the dev is only reason the Steam version is still paid THEN THAT'S WHAT PATREON IS FOR!!!
