It's actually crazy how much hate this game gets for no reason. I can understand the constant complaining about bugs and poor optimization, but people jumping on this page on first actual flavor update (especially on the business side) in a while is actually just funny at this point.
A lot of the hate comes from people who played LR1 and liked the game, and then checked out the sequel only to find it has become spreadsheet simulator sprinkled with sexy time. Like having to create the drugs, keep track of all the effects each one does, then keep track of all that across what 30 different characters becomes a headache.

Also because a lot of people view the sex and animations and models as a downgrade compared to the first game since it uses randomly generated models so every thing ends up looking the same

What you haven't mentioned is, that the people are also unable to understand why this is. Vren stated that this game is a project for him to learn programming. It is not about storytelling and he stated at the beginning that he will develop the code as he goes. So it is not surprising that this game is about mechanics and the implementing. It is also not surprising that is has a lot of bugs, as he stated he is learning. If you compare his first versions with the versions now you can see how he developed himselve and his code over the time. (And i will totally take hits for this, in my opinion he has made a lot of progress in understanding how things should work, even if he lacks in the consequence to do it clean).

He was never an animator and if you judge Lab Rats 1 without nostalgie than you can clearly see that he is also not good in writing. Every developer on this site has mostly only one skill, may it be writing, may it be animation or may it be programming. Some has none of this skills at all, but most are learning and getting better.

To have a free 3D Enviroment renpy is the wrong choice to look at if you want it. (I recommend games like skyrim with the right mods for such things ...)

And before someone write that i'am defending Vren, read more of my comments and you will see that i'am totally not happy with how Vren works. So i will not repeat what i wrote in other post from me.

One Point that i have missed, vren doesn't read here. And he reacts on his patreon only to a few persons in my experience, so you should think about that. Everything that you write here will change nothing in the game, this is only to vent the agression and after this you should be calm or considering doing something else if this here keeps you in an angry state.

Have a nice day everyone

this is a sequel to the original lab rats by vren which came out in 2016 which was also not a platformer. Completely different game
Okay now that's doubly misleading. Am I just imagining the pixel platformer game also titled Lab Rats??? The protagonist was a female wearing a black crop top, black skirt, and boots. I remember too many details for it to be just my imagination

Think that one may have been called "Lab Rat"

The game you are reffering to is most likely "Lab Rat" (singular, not plural ^^)

Its probably been said before but theres 446 pages of comments here so....

I feel like this game would be alot better by having a bit more help ingame. For instance, when you have 10+ employees and their stats keep changing every single day but it never tells you what spesifically did that or why it becomes tedious, frustrating and confusing very fast. Was it a policy affecting them? Side effect of serum? Salary? If context for the game is needed, call it a "journal" or something that shows the changes in stats and behavior, it could even be a policy upgrade to buy.
Now that most of the "universal" modifiers are Tasks, you can check a girl's profile under Review Staff and see everything that is effecting them passively (assuming you reveal their interests).

It's not a log, so you won't see random events or your interactions on there, only the Tasks and Serums, but everything else is being thrown in your face as its happening so you don't really need that.

Guys, I'm new at this game. Could I get an explanation of the Aspects of the serum? Mental, Physical, Sexual, Medical, and Flaws? What's the Flaws for?

Flaws are bad traits on your serum that have a random chance of appearance (except for Nora research quest) based on the traits you put on your serum, the % of risk decrease with the mastery of the traits. They decrease value and can increase attention (I think).

The serum aspects determine their selling values. Each aspect is tied to a specific value that decreases with each serum sold that contains the specific aspect and increases through marketing work. You can see the current values by going to your marketing department and selecting "Sell". Flaws lower the sell value in the same ways but its value is fixed. A serum can gain flaws after the research of the serum design is finished.

Is there a breakdown of the basic workflow for this game? Like how to make money day-to-day?

It used to be fairly obvious: buy supplies, produce serum, sell serum. But it all went sideways with the aspects release and now I'm not sure what I need to do to keep the company afloat.

Does this game have a quick start yet? I come back every now and again to try this but just setting up the company takes for ever (even with cheats).

I can only give you some advice based on the modded version of the game that fixed some issues with the new aspect/contract system. The main idea is to make your money by fulfilling contracts, since they have a much better payout than "manual serum sales", but as far as I know, in the unmodded game version, the contract creation is pretty messed up, giving you contracts in the early game that are impossible for you to fulfil. So the best strategy would be to design serums with a diversity of aspects and hiring good marketing employees to keep the selling values as high as possible until you are able to fulfil contracts.

This game is going off the rails... It becomes increasingly complex for no good reason. Who looked at it and decided "this needs more mechanics!"? Why was clarity even added? Why are mechanics being built around it?
