Yeah the context of the last post suggests he hasn't abandoned it. However, I haven't really seen him active on the mod discord at all in a short while. Maybe since that patreon post. I don't think he's gone, but the vibes feel murkier imo

This game has had a TON of work put into it
It's probably one of the MOST developed games around.
He has also made the code fairly easy to understand AND open, meaning its extremely modable as well
If the Dev wanted to call it complete at this stage, I would honestly clap at the marvel he has created.
Note, calling a game 'complete' doesn't mean he can't keep updating. Honestly, he should make the current mod be an official release, since that mod has also had a ton of work and development and adds a ton of story, which is the main thing sandboxes like these tends to lack.
Really, just everyone deserves such claps for all the things about this project.

On one hand, you're right, the game is one of the most developed games around. If the game was abandoned now, years of work would be wasted.
On the other hand, there's still one crucial thing which is missing from the game: any kind of an ending, or a goal. All that corruption doesn't seem to have an ultimate goal, and once all the town girls are pregnant, producing kids every month, and permanently in deep trance, there's no point in playing any further. And with no endings, no final goal or score, or whatever, I won't call the game complete.

Even if you're not a patron, you can see that nothing has been posted on Patreon by Vren for the last three weeks. I have tried to summarize what we know yesterday.
I don't think Vren has pulled a runner like some people are suggesting, I think it's just people being overly negative for a pause in communication or updates.
I do think this is Vren's fault for people thinking like this, I know Vren has spent a long time between updates before, but I don't think it has been this long before, a lack of content can rub people the wrong way causing people to think the game has been abandoned or the dev has run off with patron money like a lot of games on this site. I know the new update features new models which is why it's taking a long time, and the models in the current version look pretty bad, but new models should have been low on the priority list especially when content in the base game is pretty dry compared with the mod version of this game.

I don't think Vren has pulled a runner. Calling a game which was actively developed for almost five years "a runner" is... at least stretching the facts, if not simply insulting. That said, I do believe Vren is at fault here: lack of communication is never good.

. It's empty for the moment, but it's still a sign he was alive some two weeks ago, on November 7th.I'm sure he is still working. We have all been there when you hit roadblocks. Trying to implement a new graphics system while learning it at the same time isn't easy. Then if you stumble or the end results aren't nearly what you expected, then you feel defeated and lack motivation. I know I have to step away from creative projects and work on something else from time to time to regain that motivation. Sounds like what is happening with the Live2D stuff. It doesn't sound like it as easy to use as it was originally marketed.
This is just how Vren works. I've been corresponding with him via Patreon PMs for over two years, offering typo and bug fixes, bug reports for the things I can't fix myself, and feedback and suggestions for scenes and mechanics. He frequently goes weeks if not over a month without a reply and then I'll get a big PM apologizing for going so long without replying, thanks for my input, and sometimes a little discussion about what he's planning if it's relevant to my suggestions or feedback. He's implemented many of the suggestions I and others have made on Patreon, so I know he's paying attention even if he's not replying to every little post
Git isn't how he's used to working, so I'm not surprised if it goes neglected for longer than most of the git users here are accustomed to seeing. But I expect to see probably something similar to how I described his PMs above. Long periods of disuse, then a flurry of activity when he remembers to look at it lol

I hope VREN does get this going... by far the most interesting overall adult gaming experience here... especially with the mods... I have pulled my patreon for now, but hope to reinstate it as soon as the ball starts rolling again

there is a game of thimbles - in this game in most cases you will get fucked, and you know that you will certainly be fucked, but they will fuck you beautifully.
but why in "lab rats 2" I feel that I was fucked again, but they did it not only not beautifully, but also rudely?
I must have 5 children whom I conceived in the first part of the game. all my ladies had big bellies like they were 8-9 months old. but for some reason no children were born. why?. (Frankly, I was a little offended)
born children could be given up for adoption (yes, this is a slightly immoral decision, but it would still be logical given the ending of the first part, but according to the beginning of the second part - there were NO children).

In addition to not wanting there to be kids in a porn game - you absolutely could finish the previous game without getting any of the characters pregnant. In fact it was arguably easier to finish the game with fewer of them pregnant than non-pregnant.
Vren just chose to make it canonical that you didn't knock any of them up.

Because the 2nd game assumes that you failed to completly corrupt all the girls.
Your summer ended, you left the development team and gradiuated from university.
There never was a single pregnant girl in that ending of the first game.
Any other potential start/ ending will likely be included at a later time (based on what Vren shared so far)
People have the memories of goldfish, just a month ago the same conversation happened, and in the end everyone remembered that the thing Vren doing was a graphical overhaul, which takes ages.
