Basically you put down a LOT of traps. I don't think there's a limit on how many you can put down so if you're patient enough you can cheese the robot that way.
That how I've done it. Remember that leveling up have the same effect on the enemy.

Not sure about this version, but it was not available in the lasts builds.

Has anyone checked this 1.6.9 version link. I saw but I don't trust it since it's not one of the usual sources
Checking the Discord I've found that the penetrator is upgrade the reduce the level or the health (I don't recall which one) of the enemies when you're raiding a village.

They're joking, there are likely bugs in the code of the game, but not any insect (bug) characters in the game yet.
