so umm. I haven't played since the Artemis update but I started playing again and after I got my stats up my magic went negative, and when bell basic attacks with his dagger (and when counterattacking) I do negative damage and heal the opponent and then the battle gets locked and no-one can act anymore. also my mana in battle says Nan/Nan but i can still cast magic

That's a bug that was fixed on later releases, unfortunately the fix is not retroactive if the save was broken on old releases.
If you send me the save here or on dms/discord, I can fix it manually and send it back to you.

My first hesitation is the game is 4.4gb. I'm now comparing that file size vs the promo images. Is a 4.4gb download worth the koikatsu style imagery? Hmmm. This is the first thing that entered my mind. I wonder if other consumers are thinking the same thing?

I strongly dislike Koikatsu style imagery, that flat anime look doesn't produce an erotic turn on for me, which means the game is not for me. HOWEVER, koikatsu is very popular among a certain niche.

I used the search and discovered other people share the same concern in regards to file size, but the developer is smart and already compressed the game as much as he could. That's the sign of a good dev! That gets a lot of respect. So if someone is into this style of h-content, they can rest assured the dev takes file size optimization into consideration, while most devs DO NOT. This means overall that the game probably has a lot of content, that's awesome. This is a plus for wanting to support him on patreon.

Maybe in the far future, after he's done with this game, he'll switch to:

a) DAZ Studio
b) Offline stable diffusion AI to enhance the koikatsu style imagery. Get Stable Diffusion, and get a model of a really sexy thicc babe. Then you need a few other things to reproduce consistent characters, but I haven't had time to figure that part out yet. Imagine if you could instantly reproduce art of some of the best 2d porn artists in the biz.
c) Honey Select 2. This is subjective obviously, but I think overall, Honey Select 2 looks better than Koikatsu style imagery. Even if I'm wrong, and it's not koikatsu, it reminds me of koikatsu.

This post is meant as a compliment. I bear no ill will. Cheers.

This graphic style is closest to the actual anime, which I think the Dev is trying to replicate. It's not a niche audience either. Most folks who like Hentai like koikatsu. (y)

It could likely be compressed further.

Original
Legacy of Hestia - R22 (Win64) .zip 4.12 GB

Compressed 7-zip 9-Ultra LZMA
Legacy_of_Hestia_-_R22_Win64.zip 2.78 GB

Same files just compressed better. Shaving off a whole gb with little effort. Winterfire didn't like it as they figured extraction would take longer though for those with limited internet it could be worthwhile.

Unity doesn't seem to natively like compression formats like webp for the output and will convert it so space saving things that Ren'Py games enjoy are lacking.

This plugin sounds like it gets inserted into the which would utilize the webp standard for the output.
Someone that handles Unity Game Compression would know more than me.

Unity does not care about the source file, whether it is a 500mb PSD or a 100kb WEBP, when a game gets built, the source files get converted in their own format. All that matters are the settings I have applied to the source file, and the compression method to build the game.
When it comes to settings, they are as optimized as they can be to offer the best possible quality with the lowest size.

Yeah at the end it is the same method used by repackers to cut a big chunk of size off games, with the tradeoff of a higher installation time. I never personally liked that tradeoff, but as long as the game is under 5gb (MEGA's limit), that's good enough for me.
Should the game reach 5gb+, I'd be forced to do that just to be able to offer MEGA as a host.

A reason why some change the Unity output format. The output format would change the final size. I linked to something that does that.

Edit as I just looked up the Unity Asset Easy Webp v1.3.0.unitypackage

I wonder how many fans see 5gb+ games and go too rich for me

whre do i find the logs at? cause when it crashes only this pops up View attachment 2454264
Appdata/LocalLow/Winterfire/Legacy of Hestia (You can reach this with ease by opening the save folder, and going back two directories)

Player.log is the log generated last time you ran the game.

Also, try and see if other unity games also have the same issue since you started crashing now when it worked fine in the past, by doing some googling, I discovered this is a relatively common issue:

Looks like a file is corrupted, so redownloading might solve the issue, although if you played recently it would be odd if it corrupted by itself.
Reading the rest of the log, it looks very similar to this issue:

Do you have a joystick plugged in?

tested another unity game and it worked fine, no joysticks unless ps5 controller counts, and I played like a week ago so no idea what caused it to get corrupted

Try to unplug it, and see if the crash still occurs.

it hasnt been plugged in so thats not it. btw im the guy whos save u had to fix recently, do you think that might have caused the corruption?
No, the save is unrelated to that.

I assume you downloaded R23 from patreon, correct? I'll try the build myself just in case, and if everything works for me, you could try redownloading it or rebooting your PC and trying to run the game as administrator.

Could be something related to the controller, at least according to what I have found on google.
Let me know if it happens again, sorry for the issue!
