What surprises me about this whole sorry affair over and over again is the strange entitlement of some users on this site.
Let's face it, in almost every single thread about a game with purely lesbian content, it never takes very long for the first people to show up to voice their displeasure and say that the game in question would be so much more "interesting" or "better" if only the female main character was replaced by a male one

Making a game just like 95% of the games on the site is not making it more interesting.

I honestly do not get people who, when the vast majority of games are already from a dick's-eye-view, want to come into the few that aren't and say that *those* ones are the ones they want to play but only if they change to remove the thing that distinguishes them from everything else on here.

Apologies if I step on some toes with my opinion, but to me this is not a compromise, but nothing more than a hypocritical argument to somehow accommodate their seemingly beloved dicks in games where they have no business being.
In a reply to one of my posts, for example, the person then wrote that adding a male penis would not "take away" anything from the game and the lesbian content after all, but on the contrary would only add to the diversity of said game and thus make it appeal to a larger target audience.
To this absurd conclusion, I can only note that the addition of a dick would very well take something away, namely my enjoyment of the game, but that seems to be too incomprehensible for some; the main thing is that they get their way and heaven forbid that other games with content they don't like get their rightful place.

Others argue that they don't like games with a female protagonist in general (why exactly they want to play that game in the first place is a whole other question, but never mind), or that they can't identify with the main character.
Well, I must honestly admit that as a woman myself it is rather difficult for me to identify with a male MC, but I would still never come up with the nonsensical idea of going into every thread about a game with such a character to loudly demand a change of this circumstance.

In the end, it really can't be too much to ask that we all should acknowledge the fact that there are many different games here on this website with their own unique content and focus, and that each of us should be able to choose whatever we like.

I can only assume that they must be closeted gays

Well, i dont see a problem in adding an optional male protagonist to lesbian games...if the dev keeps some realism and the lesbian npcs give a fuck about that guy instead of fucking that guy it could even be eye opening for some dicklovers...most of them dont understand the term "lesbian" at all. Maybe they learned from stupid porn that lesbians like dicks...time to teach them some simple true life facts.
If i had the time and skills to become a dev i would obviously make lesbian games only, but i would also add a male protagonist who never gets a single sex scene because real lesbians are true lesbians ^^

I can fully understand that and no one can seriously blame a game developer for wanting to earn something in the end for all the time and labour invested, there shouldn't be any question about that; after all, I don't work for free or just because I enjoy it.
Furthermore, I think that as an artist you can't do anything worse than listening to some wildly shouting people and then completely adjust your art and your projects according to their opinions and demands, since then you will almost certainly end up exactly like in this cartoon:
You will end up with a (for the time being) satisfied minority, hardly any of whom are willing to give you even a penny and who will only demand more and more from you.
If you pull the plug on this, the remaining few will give you the finger and you'll be left completely empty-handed; although that's not entirely true, you'll still have a bad reputation for future projects, since you don't give a damn about the opinions of others....

I say don't give a shit about that, always follow your vision from start to finish, either people like what you do and how you do it, or they don't.

It's all about people never being happy and some being more vocal than others when they don't like something, ready to ruin the existing content for everyone else rather than just moving on and looking for something *they* like.

Most engines used for the games available on the zone have two advantages: they're friendly to aspiring developers who don't know shit about code and the deployed product is open to changes from either the developers or the audience at any time.

Can't please everyone. Pure yurige (be it nukige or ones with romantic development between females and no male interactions nor phallic mentions of any kind) are doable but they're certainly not easy to make and require even more dedication to remain what they were meant to be.

"I can't talk to this character. She's female and only interested in other females. Meanwhile, I am male and only interested in other males, so it would be best for me to leave her alone and mind my own business. And find a male partner who isn't obsessed with chicks."

On a more serious note, it doesn't hurt to have male-or-whatever NPCs with zero sexual interest in the protagonist and other characters (party members for a RPG, change according to game genre) and zero story relevance (they're just selling items or offering quests). If the story claims to be pure yuri but brings up dicks all the time, it's pretty much like a story claiming to be pure yaoi but the characters are constantly talking about hot chicks - doesn't matter if they're attracted to each other, that kind of ruins the point of being attracted to a specific gender and only that gender).

I don't think I ever got around to writing it up, but I long joked that basically everything on this site flows to "male mc dom harem with no 'gay or furry shit'" and pretty much every game that doesn't fit this mold will have someone asking for it to be nudged in that direction. I'm probably missing a few steps too. Definitely considered making it a flow chart where I'd just reply to people asking for this with their circled step but put it off because it seemed a bit too contentious.

Absolutely and to witness all these different character developments were another reason to replay the games over and over again.
But what remains as a downer for me personally in retrospect of this great game trilogy is the fact that, apart from Samantha, there was not a single female LI exclusive to a FemShep.

To be blunt: For the vast majority of games on here, it's just not worth it. You're redoing like 90% of the work that went into the game to recreate the renders or redo the art, may as well put in 10% more for a unique story and be able to monetize that.

There's only a handful of games where I think the gameplay/story/themes are worth editing for and they all tend to be games where the Male MC is in a position a Female MC would usually be in - e.g. Run-or-Rape games like Max the Elf, or Sissification games like Earn your Freedom (although I guess there's not many of these that keep the same tone/level of reluctance, usually they speedrun into bimbofication). And, well, each of those has their issues. Both would still require significant art changes - especially if you don't want to run afoul of Rule 7 - and the latter would still need a lot of text changes. The better option for both is almost definitely to just make a similar game in your own style, partly for the reasons mentioned above, and partly because, if you aren't excellent at copying the original style, your edit's are going to look like a bit of a mess.

Beggarman already explained but I'll just repeat what they said. Looking at "Dating my Daughter," it's a Ren'py game that uses art created by posing 3d models in a 3d room, and then rendering them to create the final piece of art. What you are suggesting amounts to doing all of those renders from the grounds up. That would be about 90% of the work, as Beggarman pointed out.

The problem with lesbian tag it's not always clear what is meant. Lesbian as main focus? Or just optional content, side content, maybe even just two side characters that appear only once. Or false tags that say lesbian but actually mean bisexual. It's often too vague or people use it too frequently. Bisexual is not lesbian. Why not tagging bisexual then.

Not every game has to cater to the same audience or all different kind of audiences. If the dev have a vision for a lesbian only game or whatever game it's just disrespectful to demand to be changed to fit the own taste. I never read that cis hetero male audience focused games should be catered to the own audience by female users. It's often male users that want games to cater only tot hem. It's immediately a facepalm picard moment. Of course the majority of male users seem to be normal in the head, but some are not, obviously.

Sorry when I'm rude to people with similar arguments like quoted in Kass/\ndra's comment. I mean the "thought" process behind it is just phenomenal, no. It's also a bit dumb. Ignorant on so many levels. Baffling. Nothing wrong that there are people who love trans content or futanari content, but a penis is clearly a male sex organ and a vulva and vagina are clearly female. Because of that and the term lesbian itself it's impossible that a penis could enhance the lesbian experience. The only thing it does is removing the lesbian content completely and replacing it with a cis-trans-mix content. Doesn't matter that they transwomen are women in the sense of identity and brain. Lesbian, gay or hetero are terms tied to sex not gender. That's a difference and some people probably forget this or are ignorant about it. And it's disrespectul towards the target audience and especially the developer to demand that the game should be changed to cater the own tastes.
I mean are there comments in gay game threads too that people say i wish all the male LI would be female or at least (as a "compromise") have vulvas and vaginas instead of dicks.
