Just played the new update, damn, i feel really bad for Maya, looks like she is broken inside.

The event with Sara on Bar, that's just sad to think about it, she love to run that place, but thinks will never be the same again, there is only pain.

The event on the hotspring are hilarious, meet with another 5000 years old wizard. Another event on that place is having sex with alien Chika.

Yuki, no wonder sensei feel intimidated with her at first, but deep inside, she love Yumi.

Yumi love ice cream, i wonder did the ice cream love her back?
They're all broken inside in some way, some just haven't shown how yet.

I have two UI suggestions:

1) The multiple choice dialogs are visually unpleasant to read on black backgrounds (on weekends midday and evening). I suggest adding a neutral (seasonal) background image.

2) In the main girls and side girls windows I suggest adding two subtle small indicators on the overview. Maybe a small exclamation mark to indicate an unread message/pic and something else to indicate unfinished events.
Not much can be done about the background, it's winter, it snows in Japan in winter, and snow is sometimes blindingly white. There are actually a few environmental conditions associated with being blinded by snow IRL because of this. Don't worry, it will change again when it comes time to change seasons and the snow melts. There are already indicators for unfinished events and messages. If the message has not been read, the phone on the girl's page will have an exclamation point. Unfinished events are marked both in number and in color. Unfinished events will remain grey and will not be counted in the total count on the girl's page, meaning that there will be at least one less in the number of events cleared out of total events count on the page.

I have to say that Where the Sidewalk Ends was one of my favorite things to read when I was a wee youngin'.

Friendly Passerby: "Hey buddy, looks like you took a nasty trip there, you okay? Lemme help you out real quick, and you'll be right as rain. So uh, what happened there?"

Person that isn't Sensei: "I just wanted to see what it was like to crater into the ground, so I found somewhere I could hit terminal velocity."

FP: "Well buddy, watch out, because you might land on someone, and then there'd be two bodies needing theri bones pushed back in."

PtiS: "I'll be sure to give people a heads-up before I hit the ground."

*both laugh hysterically*
The writing in that event was incredible, yes, some of it was quoted, but the quotes fit so well with the situation.

So, I'm fairly confused on the backread. Is the event that's locked out of Maya's route from being a good uncle a good or a bad event? I want to make the best choices for Maya
You must have stayed away from Ami. Being good is sometimes punished as if you were bad.

Several times playing this game I have desperately, *desperately*, wanted to take control of Sensei, and make him say or do something I did not have the option for (or had no options to do anything at all at the time, which is even more common). This recent update had so many of them. I hope very much that somewhere at the end of the game, in the eons it will take us to get to the "true end" that somehow, somehow, all the girls end up with good happy lives, because they all damn well deserve it as far as I can tell.
I'm not sure about happy, but the true end would have the possibility of giving them better lives than any other ending would. It's how Denpa games work, always negative except rarely in the true end and sometimes even then even if there is improvement in that end.

just realized, that the psychological element in this game made it feel like Doki doki literature club.

Hopefully it doesn't end the same way.
It might, it might not, but one thing is certain, we are far too early to even theorize how it will end.

Well, I just choked on my own spit from laughter after "Uptown Girl". Sensei just calling Niki like that almost literally killed me. I can't wait until the next Niki event to see her reaction firsthand.

The rest of the update was quite a mix between heartwarming and foreboding, though. You can definitely see the signs of this whole "route" crashing in tears, but with it picking up speed as it does now, it's at least going to be spectacular. Nice to see Sensei getting closer to problems and mysteries of the world in general and Maya in particular, too, even if he is rapidly losing control over himself.

The plot between Noriko and Maya thickens, and I get the feeling the latter was really hurt by it. I wonder if Niki couldn't be a more neutral source of information about the past, though. Maya doesn't seem to have so adverse a reaction to her, and you would think that supposedly girlfriend would know more about whaterver happened.
I could see the pain in her eyes and I think Noriko might be the reason the resets are even happening. I think that scene where Maya is all happy and jerking old Sensei off is very real and that old Sensei was punished by Noriko with a bungee jump without the cord off the roof of the building at the beginning. That's where my current theory of how this all started stands, Maya had a relationship, miss psycho got jealous, old Sensei denied her when she tried to get some, so she made sure Maya couldn't have some either.

I sure hope that Niki will act as some sort of anchor for Noriko, Maya and also Sensei but given the kind of game we are playing and what sadistic person Sel is.... Not a chance.

Truth be told, I absolutely love the update and especially I love Noriko since her introduction (maybe even surpassing Maya who I know is sacrificing a lot just to protect Sensei).
But Noriko will be the absolutely adorable, cute and highly interesting cause for everything to start burning down. And she'll do it with an irresistible smile...
I sure do hope that Sel doesn't hurt or worse kill Maya in the process (the new poster of her does give me terrible vibes, the bed resembles a coffin and that is not exactly reassuring) but if anyone assumed that this story will have a happy ending (anytime soon), they have not been paying attention.

It sure will be a hell of a ride though. Also a ride to hell, I guess, but it will be very enjoyable to witness. And terrifying. Mostly just terrifying actually...

Why am I loving this game so much again?!
She clearly isn't being an anchor now since Noriko is still going at least partial psycho at times, need I remind you of the invite over event where she's supposed to get away while Ami distracts Maya, but instead tries to get some of player Sensei? That was most definitely one of her psychotic episodes albeit a minor one.

What janitors? This is a Japanese school. Not only are 99% of all men conscripted into the space war, but it is common practice in Japan to have the students handle janitorial duties as a way to teach responsibility.

The only issue I have with this is when there's text that goes by so fast that even repeating it multiple times I can't figure out what it's saying beyond a word or two, damnit!
Read it one word at a time per repeat, that's what I do and then I can read the whole sentence by putting them in order in my head.

Selebus, a bit of thought about menus.
Can you make it so when you go into Main Girl (Side Girl too) and choose a girl, we can go to the next or previous girl in that menu ( just some arrows, if you click on the arrow pointing right - you will go from Chika to Yumi and so on)
Now that would be useful, instead of us having to go all the way back out or go back to the girl list for the character set we are looking at. I often go through specifically the characters I found have events that update and they are often separated by at least two other girls on the list. I often forget where they are on the list as I am still getting used to the UI of this tracker, so it not only takes me several minutes to find the next girl that has events, but it also requires I back out of the girl's page to go to the next.

The code and assets for this game are uncompressed/obfuscated, so you could just go into the game's files and look for the images in question's names then find them in the images folder. This is a little harder if you don't know how the game handles its code or if you can't read ren'py code in the first place.

A good suggestion is to check the "Xevents.rpy" (where X is the character in question's name) file or the "dormX.rpy" file where X is 1 (iirc, either that or nothing) for first floor dorms and 2 for second floor dorms. Open the file in question with notepad and search for the last line displayed (or a substring of it) and then use that to find the image names.

Ok thank you so far. As im a programmer myself i could do things like that with ease. But im lazy as fuck :) . So naturally im going the least annoying way possible. Which would be trying to halt the scene or someone telling me what was in there.
But i appreciate that you told me how i could do this myself in the end.

Another brilliant update in part 2, thank you Selebus. I finished off with Nodoka and got yet more "Delirium" flashbacks for my effort. That scene was so well done and I think I'm already starting to understand her issue. She doesn't have some mental illness issue, but hers is instead external. Because she is a literal genius, a prodigy, she feels pressured to excel in everything she does lest she disappoint those who she feels pressured to gain the acknowledgement of. That poor girl is running herself ragged to get that acknowledgement and it really shows in her final scene, where she is high on caffeine and obviously hasn't slept for days nor looked at her own condition via a mirror.

You can download some free screenrecording apps like quicktime player, and screen record. After that, in slow increments play the recording and pause when necessary. That's how I look at those texts :)

Also, this may be way overstepping it, but the recent addition of phone pics made me think of something.

You know the monthly LiL gravure photos? I was thinking it'd be nice if those were also included in the game via an album feature, with new gravure photos being added into the game every 2-3 months or so. Just some food for thought.

"Things like this might happen every once in a while because you're a super awesome, super likable guy who lights up the room just by walking in."
Ahh, no, it's become like every other harem game! (Yes I know it was a joke and I too am joking, but that really is what 90% of the harem games are like, and the few that aren't are a breath of fresh air.)

That and a lot of them move too quickly into sex, which limits the time in which the character can be built upon. Sure, they could build up the character after the fact, but these games often don't last long enough after the fact to build the character and that's assuming the game lasts through its entire development cycle. Character development tends to be a lot more effective when done over a long period of time and before anything significant happens. If the character is pushed into sex by the developer too early, it just makes them seem like a total slut even if they are supposed to be completely pure no matter what their development is like after. The player will remember that that character started a physical relationship not long after the initial relationship began. That works when the character is supposed to be a total slut in the first place, or at least a girl with an overactive libido like Kirin, but not for a good 99.9% of character types. As an opposite example, it would not work with Karin.

There's also the issue where the girls automatically fall for the MC in those games, that isn't the case here. We have girls in this game he's been pursuing since day one that are still not into him or that are more into someone else than him even if there is something there in his favor. The relationships in this game are much more natural. Sure, there's Ayane, but that's Ayane just being Ayane. It's just the way she is, totally devoted to the MC. Try putting Yumi in that situation and it would just feel forced.

Well, the way I see it (which may be wrong): the situation with Yumi feels forced as it is. But it's intentional, and Selebus plays around with the fact that it's forced. Because any game where you end up with 500 women, it's gonna feel forced. That only happens to kings and warlords, not even the most "super awesome super likable guys". The game highlights that MC doesn't really deserve any of this and everyone is being pushed in that direction because they happen to be characters in a harem game.

In this case, it's specifically discussed in one of the 15.1 scenes. It feels forced because it is, not just externally by the author, but internally by the scenario. It's discussed as a clue to what's really going on (which still isn't being explained -- fortunuately -- but is becoming increasingly alluded to)

Big reason I can draw is MC being "hot single MALE in your area", with the war taking all the other male away(plot), active female are either gonna get interested in MC or choose to be les for their partner.

Not really in the same context. It feels forced now because it is, she doesn't want him to butt into her life, but he's doing it anyway because she needs it if he is ever going to get any closer to getting with her. What I meant by forced in my comment is that the situation was written in a way that there was no way for it to feel natural at all. At least forcing a stubborn girl who doesn't know how to get out of her rotten situation is a kind of force that feels natural. If Yumi wasn't the way she is, yes, it would feel forced in the context that I meant in my comment. No, unlike most harem games, the characters in LiL are not being pushed by that fact into being with him. Case in point, Rin, who went from liking Chika to starting to like Otoha, which she still does. There is only one instance so far that shows she might be falling for player Sensei, but that could easily be written off as a mistake in judgement at a highly emotional and vulnerable moment by Rin.

In this case, it's specifically discussed in one of the 15.1 scenes. It feels forced because it is, not just externally by the author, but internally by the scenario. Her situation pretty much requires a forced situation, no other character in the game is this stubborn about her own problems and not accepting outside help. She forced player Sensei's hand.

He's not the only male exempt, just the only one on screen that is. I'm pretty sure Ayane's father is also exempt, likely bought his way out. The space war did take 99.9% of the male population away, leaving the female population to go after the remaining 0.1%, which includes teachers and other essential non-combat personnel like player Sensei. His profession is what got him out of the war. That is a big reason the girls are going for him, but then you have outliers like Rin, who has fallen for not one, but two girls, both in player Sensei's class and both right in front of the guy. She has made one move in his direction, but that can always just be written off as a mistake by Rin. It's not like it was anything irreversible, after all.

Another homerun by Selebus. After 5 minutes into the update I already love Nodoka. I knew she would be great from her first encounter, but my expectations have been exceeded for the 100th time with this game. Coming from other VNs back to LiL when it updates is always an eye-opening experience. No filler, no over-exposition, no forced drama; not a word is wasted in this VN. To make a poor comparison, the clever dialogue and strength of the characters always reminds me of my favorite moments in The Fruit of Grisaia.
