That fucking bang gets me every time.

Alex, the Renpy persistent file is just your 'seen' history, it's how Renpy keeps track of what you've seen for the ctrl skip text feature. There is no non malicious reason to tell people to delete it unless the goal is to remove that history. At the very least this person has no idea wtf they're doing, and at worst they are deliberately trying to screw people over.

Edit: having completed the task i can also confirm that they give deliberately wrong answers to the questions, one you can confirm for yourself doesn't even require you to play it yourself is number 2, denum, the answer is denim. If you take the masturbate option repeatedly you fail the game and get sent to desktop. I don't want to go through every single one, this guy is 100% trolling people, i bet everything i have on it.
Oh yeah, I completely forgot about that one, I was only thinking of the other bang where we first saw Miku's issue.

I can also confirm deliberately wrong answers, the Discord can be a bit defensive of the play style Selebus wants players to use (in other words reading everything and getting all the help a player should need from the game itself), my issue is when people start throwing accusations of much bigger things like attempted deletion of another player's save through false advice that would lead to it, kind of like telling people to ALT+F4 (please don't actually hit that combination, it closes the currently active window for anyone who doesn't know and you WILL lose anything not saved). That is why I asked for evidence of this accusation, because that would be inexcusable regardless of how the accused is trying to accomplish it if they are guilty.

I am aware of what the Persistant file does, I'm just trying to get actual proof so as to make sure this is not just biased against the Discord and Selebus by extension. If they want to throw an accusation, they better be able to back it up. Attempting to delete actual save data, as in actual progress that a player could continue from, not replay data, is a huge thing that needs to be nipped in the bud right away if true.

I do have a direct line to Selebus open right this very moment, I'm on the Discord because I was checking on whether my patron request was in, and could inform him. As much as he wants people to play as intended, he won't stand for this if it is true, but there has to be evidence.

No Alex, just no, don't go splitting hairs, the persistent file is one of two types of save file, telling people to delete it when they are not asking to wipe all evidence of having played the game for a fully clean run is malicious. Tricking people into deleting that file is malicious. If you cannot see that, we have nothing further to talk about.

Someone who is on both the LIL and the F95 discord, check your 'mutual servers' and post who that guy is on the LIL discord, please. I'm curious who is trying to get people to nuke their persistence files.

What the fuck man. I support this game and without this site, I never would have even heard of it, and the dev is supporting attempts to break people's saves? I've been lurking for a while now, and I can't think of an instance of this ever happening.

Easy there tiger. It's galactically unlikely that Selebus is trying to break saves. He's got 99 problems, but this isn't one of them.

It's probably some nobody who _thinks_ this is what Selebus would want done. Lots of overzealous sycophancy on that discord.

Edit: ....and, confirmed.

The best type of games are usually made by people with some sort of issue (atleast the sort of weird, mindfuck games i tend to like).

You said it yourself, not me, the Persistent file deals with the replay function. Sure, it is malicious, but I am specifically going after the accusation of attempted malicious deletion of save data through false advice, which is what was accused, not wiping replay function data. That is not the same thing as deleting the replay function data, at least the player doesn't have to completely start over if the Persistent file is wiped, replay data doesn't cover data that has to be loaded to resume playing the game from a save point. One problem at a time, the Persistent data accusation can wait, someone trying to wipe actual save data this way cannot.

My final reply to you with even more proof of malicious intent by discord users and blatant approval by Selebus. If you don't believe me at this point, you're being willfully ignorant.

I see a single comment outright saying they told people how to do a complete wipe of their save data as well as a comment saying that's extreme, which it is. It does not seem like Selebus is in on this, but I see what I needed to and the accusation checks out.

What a complete tool... well there goes any intention i had of giving Selebus some money next pay for all the hours of fun i've had with his game, what a vindictive pack of assholes.
Your call, if you don't want to, that is your choice as it has always been.

Don't listen to them, there are people actively trying to do so, but it does not seem Selebus himself is one of them based on the screenshots I have witnessed.

Someone who is on both the LIL and the F95 discord, check your 'mutual servers' and post who that guy is on the LIL discord, please. I'm curious who is trying to get people to nuke their persistence files.
As am I in terms of his presence within this specific community, he needs to be banned, that is absolutely unacceptable and he outright admitted to it.

I just love that first of all you had to cut it off early, and second label it as malicious when you post early versions of something that is available for free two weeks after on a pirating website.

For the record, I was trolling. I did try to get people to delete the persistent and waste as much time on the puzzle as possible. I did not have the best wishes for these people and I'm being a dick.
I have gone out of my way to be helpful for people who had actual issues to solve instead of people who are just cheating through it. You have the right to cheat through it but it's not what Sel wants and without you accusing me of circle jerking I've actually played the game so I can see the value the puzzles hold.
It is a hostile approach to people who 1. Don't provide any value to Sel's work and just leech it, and 2. Don't even engage with it properly so he has no reason to cater to them.

Sel also never asked for people to break the save, that was my decision. Get angry at me for that. In fact about 3 minutes after I posted it I decided to change it back to just being the persistent file which would be nothing but a minor annoyance just so people wouldn't lose their original save just in case they did actually care about what decisions they had made so far, Nor do I expect it to even work. 1. It's really fucking obvious 2. It's incredibly easy to undo/just pull another from online. 3. It's specifically a jab at people who don't want to read through what's literally meant to be a novel and then get upset when said novel requires you to read and somehow think they have a right to get demand it to change.

If you are the one who said the thing about breaking all their saves, too far, man. Not cool. There's a limit to how far is okay to go and you really crossed that line big time. Seriously, there ARE people here who wait out the public release and it almost sounds like the lot of you are bunching them all together with the actual pirates. A save wipe could easily spread on here as if it was a legitimate way to do something assuming there are people who don't pay attention to the Discord, which there are, to people who are playing from here legitimately through the public release.

Selebus himself is not, there was a troll that was talking about it and could have started a mass deletion epidemic on here among people who don't know any better.

Well as shown, he clearly finds it funny that someone did try that. Not as bad but i'm certainly going to look down on him for it.
Selebus does have a bit of a troll side, but I am still on his side specifically on this. The other user who outright admitted to the save wiping thing, albeit as trolling, I am furious with right now.

Oh, selebus..... why do you want to fuck up your good thing? Just shut up, take the money, and work on your game. Sign out of discord and F95 and stay out of it for a few months. It's impacting your mental health.
He can be a troll, that's fine, the problem was a different user.

The best type of games are usually made by people with some sort of issue (atleast the sort of weird, mindfuck games i tend to like).
Very true

Someone never watched Revolutionary Girl Utena!

I'm guessing the puzzles before the reset represent someone or something that doesn't want sensei to make it to the roof and whoever or whatever it is is fighting against him hence the increased difficulty. The question is who or what?
Maybe it's Sensei's own desire to keep those memories buried.

Oh god GOD HOPE, no. This actually makes sense to a scary degree. I am actually quite shocked by that. That said, there are a few holes in that logic.
Go on!

Are there still deafening auditory jump-scares in this game? It looked like it was going to be good but random screeching in my ear isn't what I view as enjoyable content.
I'm a huge fan of suspense and thriller but I've always hated unnecessary jump-scares where the story writer just basically decides to throw away all tension in exchange for a cheap "boo".
You know you can just turn the sound effects down to a manageable level right?

I have no respect for your perspective on this issue Alex, you're in a really weird place that looks like you'e trying to juggle multiple contradictory facts in your need to not have your personal hero be a dickhead right at this moment, which isn't something i wish to interact with any further, so unloop me from your massive multi-quote replies on this subject please.

I've been a supporter since the very beginning. I really respected Sel for deciding to leave this site when he felt like his wishes were being ignored. Not giving people the time of day when they won't do the same for you is a viewpoint I could sympathize with.

But that's not what you are doing here.

This kinda stuff crosses a line. And that Sel helped encourage it really hurts.

Honestly? It breaks my heart a bit.

I'm not going to threaten to unsub or anything petty like that, I'm just....upset.

For the record he may not have actually seen what I wrote and I will say again point absolutely every bit of blame at me and not him. And if you read the full comment the worse case scenario is probably not going to happen. But hey if someone does actually got fucked over by the 3 minutes it actually told you to delete a save, couldn't recover it, and couldn't find a save on the site they can reply to me and I'll fix it up for them.

FWIW people do seem oddly reluctant to share saves for this particular game for whatever reason. Even me.

For me, part of the reason is because I gave my 'non porn stuff' name to the robot.

Not a great reason, but...

After reaching the puzzle section i can understand where people are coming from.

No wonder the events in the game keep getting more and more deranged, this is clearly the by-product of a man overcome by madness.

It suits me just fine because i kinda dig this really weird and unique game, but more things of this nature and i wouldn't be surprised if some people are too overwhelmed by the events.

I found a lot of the segments in this latest update really quite a lot to digest, like i felt like quitting the game early because it was just too much.
