Thanks, this is really weird though. I'm comparing the old version with the new version and basically Maya (2 more), Ayane (2 more) and Makoto (2 more) got events added to them, but at the same time we lost 4 events overall from a double update (total events for both of the updates got down to 18 from the usual 20 - or rather 36 to the expected 40).

There are also 10 new main events that weren't supposed to exist, as in the old version the following update would have no main events. Therefore we went from 9 main events dealing with Halloween to 19.

Reducing the number of events to 18 would suggest that Selebus really doesn't want to have the update continue beyond the reset, maybe wanting to leave it at a cliffhanger. Otherwise, he'd have no reason to stop at 18 events for two months (especially when it's clear he already has the following update planned out - old 0.45, now presumably 0.46 - and it's mostly around people with no strong ties to the reset: Futaba, Molly, Io, Otoha, Kirin, Noriko, Imani, Maki, Rika, Tsubasa and Haruka. Ayane would be the only one with ties, but she'd have just one event).

Reversal of perspective? It'd certainly be a new take on the resets, having them start with Akira trying to prevent Maya's death, rather than the opposite. But Maya would have no reason to kill herself before the loops either.

I have difficulty seeing how someone that lasted a thousand years struggling alone would kill herself over Niki moving in though.

Edit: Now that I think about it, does Niki moving in even make that much of a difference? She has a career and most of the events aren't with Akira at home anyway. I guess it makes a difference for Maya in the sense that Niki becomes Ami's mom, but other than that, leaving the emotional stuff aside, Akira will keep having encounters as usual, and might trigger Maya to really mean what she said about turning his new apartment into their nest ("fine, Niki gets your first home, but I get this one" sort of deal).

Waiting to see if Selebus drops the ball on Chika finding out that Niki has moved in as well (cause Niki seems like she's going to the party - and now as Ami's mom sort of). Also Noriko, but I'm predicting that might be her/Yumi's next event. Noriko talking about how her onee-chan won, and Yumi about having feelings for Akira and Chika going insane.

Overall: Is it bad that I'd prefer Maya killing herself over her rebounding with Otoha? Because that route is far too dark for me, lmao.

I'd probably prefer factory resetting myself rather than her rebounding with Otoha. There is a very small number of things that'd make me despise this game and that is one of them.

Stop making Otoha's whole thing about going after the people Akira is in an actual relationship with. If that is a must, have her masturbate over Sekai's grave or something, just leave Maya alone. Can Sekai possess a dildo? that might be enough.

I would assume the Ayane event from old .45 is one of the three Ayane events in nu.45, and some of those one-off events may be reclassified as main events because they're part of the party, or something.

The scaling down from 20 to 18 might just be to give him more time to work on Mysterious Side Project That Is Almost Certainly Grow Old Than Die, like the removal of animations had been.

This isn't quite about LiL, but why was the game delisted exactly? I wasn't really around when it happened but i'm assuming it had something to do with the care packages?

Less about the care packages themselves and more about the drama surrounding them once they got posted here.

The short answer is dev and a number of people from the Discord violated forum rules and gave the mods enough of a headache to get the game delisted.

This included mass reporting the thread trying to get his own game taken down from the site.

Why did he want his own game delisted? I get he's a bit, uh, "special" in this regard but that seems counterproductive to his own goals.

(Unless he really does believe that "piracy" was taking money from him.)
Long version: Frustrated that the game was leaking here within minutes of an update going live, he created care packages to try and generate more subscriptions as something that couldn't be uploaded here because of rule 7 -- de-aged versions of the characters in optional animations.

They leaked here within minutes of going live, and he lost his shit.

He tried to get the game delisted as a rule 7 violation, and when it didn't work he mass reported hoping it would eventually find a mod who'd give him what he wanted.

He genuinely does believe that the game being listed here is costing him money, and doesn't seem to realize that most of the money he's lost is specifically because we got sick of supporting his behavior.

Pretty funny looking through his earliest posts (if his account hasn't been deleted yet) where he seems like a completely different person, either he's been going through a rough patch in the last couple years or the money really did get to his head.
I believe things went south after he quit his day job to work on the game full time and suddenly minor fluctuations in his subscriber count became a much bigger deal.

As a side note, I totally forgot about the other people that supposedly inhabited Sensei's body. Could someone please remind me, were there ever clarifications about who inhabited his body in previous cycles, and how much different their personalities & actions were? I feel like ever since Maya realized that the original Sensei came back, this part of the mystery was rarely addressed again.
Apart from him just generally sleeping around, the only specific thing that I can remember are the "rapey detentions" for Yumi, but even then I don't really understand what this means and whether this was done by the original Sensei pre presets or by one of his impostors
Likely himself, as New Maya is just Maya as well. The "it's finally you again" from Maya is likely her saying that "it's finally the you that can remember who you are without imploding". Remember that if it was someone else in his body there'd be no reason for them breaking when hearing Maya saying she loved them, and that happened a whole lot. She's probably the top reason for most of them being factory reset.

It's very unlikely that it was other people inhabiting his body, but rather that without his memories or Pareidolia/Himawari conspiring to make him remember, he'd just be another person, because in the end our memories are a huge part of who we are. He can't be Akira without them.

Furthermore, I don't think this Akira is special persay, more that everything conspired to enable him remembering and thus become a more whole Akira. Or perhaps they interfered this time exactly because with this Akira it was possible, hard to say, but I'm leaning towards more of the former than the latter.

Edit: To keep up with the trend of me quoting the same obscure quotes all the time: "Forget everything you know about love. Forget everything you know about her. Only then can you be saved." Well, that's what happens everytime Akira was factory reset, he forgot everything about being assaulted and groomed, he was freed from Sekai's influence to the utmost extent he could have been - obviously some stuff will remain, but for the most part, he was freed. And that was not enough, because how could it have been when the price for that is also losing who he is?

So, this time, they're trying to make him remember (something never done before as per xoanon/NAO's comment), in an effort to make him face his trauma and grow from it, either by rejecting it (likely Himawari's route) or fully embracing it (Pareidolia's route). It's possible Wires is also changing to that camp (given his actions in restoring his memories), though he's also sending mixed signals about it (as his plan is making a world where everything bends to Akira's will).

Man... it's really started to get to me, what with Selly saying it'll be the shortest chapter... like... all this fucking buildup to it coming and now it sounds like it'll start and end in like 6 updates or something...
But, man, 6 updates is a long time... It might not seem that way right now, but I think that it was DeSkel that put it like this: how the hell is Selebus even going to extend the dark route's events?
Just a thought, but considering that each Character tends to get around three Events per chapter (up to like 12+), then if Characters start dropping, and actually stay gone, then of course it's going to be shorter. Less Main Events would be needed to cover everyone as well. Less Lust Events, etc.

It definitely seems like it'll be more of a climactic chapter after all the build up. A rough one, even if it's short.

Frankly, I'm hoping for more of a mind fuck than torture porn.
The only thing that makes sense to me from the clue about being the shortest chapter, and where the story could go dark enough to be the dark route is if the entire dark route took part in the same time span as one reset, except something broke and things can't / don't reset. Someone tries to bluejay and it works this time. Makoto has to worry about her choices again. Chika finds out about Maya being Sensei's #1 and she assaults / kills (New) Maya in front of everyone. Himawari actively trying to defend Ayane. The backroom Mayas start appearing to everyone trying to reestablish control. Hell why not kill Chinami during this time (or don't and go for the subversion of killing Tsukasa or something)

There was also the jokes of the dark chapter being dark GOT S8 style and...why not? The sun not working because they broke the world is a trope they could lean into, go into the world backrooms. Fix the simulation, reset people back to life, find out what needs to happen to end it, prepare everyone using purity routes and then truly end the game.

I was going to say this. He must have realised he could set up a big 2 month cliffhanger with some big update and give him more time for side projects and couldn't resist. We've kinda shit on 0.43 for being an update to set up an update and he was about to take a vacation on a equally as important update.

I'm starting to think the estimated end date might be pushed up a little with more info being released. If chapter 4 ends next year we should be heading into the dark route by 2027. Sel said the purity routes would take him 2 months minimum to complete and Chapter 6 being the shortest chapter with an estimated 6 months of content Lessons in Love may wrap up by 2028.

Addon: Sel said every character will have a h-scene and the purity routes have guaranteed h-scenes I feel some characters might get their first h-scenes until their purity route.

I share pretty much the same train of thought. The way I see it current info points to this direction:

Chapter 4 ends before summer of 2025>chapter 5 takes 1.5-2 years to finish>dark route which is 6 months>purity routes for the cast which is 2 months each so 2x35 is 70 months minimum so it's almost 6 years OR if purity route is a privilege of thr main cast then it's almost 4 years.

So high balling the numbers we get 2030.Long ass time with plenty of room for sel to massively dissapoint but I choose to believe not in him but in his fear of losing his income, because bad writing WILL be punished harshly

So Part II focusses on Ayane, Makoto... and Maya? RAS Assemble?

I mean, we've been waiting for some extended Maya content (well, some of us have). So yay?

I'm trying to figure whether these scenes take place before or after the reset, possibly on the roof (in which case, I'm guessing that's New Maya) — or during the reset, in which case, we might visit (or get a visit from) Maya Prime.

 indeed!

Damn, Akira is being attacked by his 3 Canon girlfriends, someone save him from there

Maya has tears in her eyes, I'm really Worried.
As I'm sure others have pointed out, Niki and... Sekai ... are the only ones who actually threaten Maya's status as Akira's One True.... Whatever.

If Sekai is actually there, smiling like the demon she is, then I'd have to imagine both Maya and Niki are going to be more than a bit upset. Akira too, for what it's worth.
