Can't speak on Fanfest content as I haven't touched it (and won't), but I file that under "as canonical as the care package animations," which is to say -- not at all.

But also -- Kaori is a gestalt of what's left of the girl named Kaori and the things that have taken up residence in her through various means. What she does or doesn't understand is entirely dependent upon which entity is in charge in the moment.

The big problem with your theory is that the situation is entirely avoidable. If you don't meet the requirements for the events, then Sensei just walks away, and it's implied that the other girls don't even show up because Sensei isn't there. If something is going to cause a character to kill themself, then it has to be in an event that can't be missed.
