Maki events 3: A million tiny pieces.
that third event title though. oh boy... I wonder if Maki is going to blame herself for the influence she had on Makoto because of her sexual history/not being more of a mom early on.

what a christmas present she's going to get. I also wonder how Makoto's going to solve the situation, cause there's no way Akira will be able to pull it off.

Edit: Would be funny if Maki's about to crashout and Shiori just resets her being like "dude, I just fixed things not two updates ago. We're on holiday leave, give me a break". I also wonder if it was Himawari that reset/restored Makoto after "bluejay".

Im more concerned about Maki's second event being named after Budd Dwyer...

Info about Budd Dwyer:

I think Maki finds out about Sensei and Makoto's relationship through Osako. And this causes Maki to spiral after coming to terms with the fact that she isn't a good mother for exposing Makoto to so much sex at a young age. Which would lead to her last event.

I mean, the implication is that Maki kills herself. Whether that's literal or figurative, I dunno.

We are approaching the second half of the game; Seeing some level of consequences would actually be par for the course from a literature sense.

Build up
Consequence
Ending

Most books follow this type of situation. The hero begins their adventure, world building, character introductions, etc. Then the BIG EVENT happens. Hero learns of world ending, someone important dies, the story is colored with tragedy, angst, or anxiety.

The rest of the story is then built around the "Fix". Saving the day, growing as a person, learning to move on, etc etc.

Killing off Maki wouldn't be a surprise outside of the fact that only unrelated 3rd party characters have actually died, if we ignore Maya that is.

Sel doesn't exactly shy away from the darkness, though. I'm reminded heavily of a certain Makoto roof scene...the only reason that didn't end badly was because she's connected to the story directly, and thus protected somewhat.

Maki might not get that same level of consideration.

Edit:

Finally making my way through 0.54,

I love that she literally says "it works for him!" like girl, you're not the MC.

Extra edit: Nevermind. After her text messages, I'm moving her to the 'Bad person' column. Girl needs a grip, and some cock, jesus.

I think, out of all the girls, I could actually be friends with this one.

Everyone: Who, out of all the many girls in the game, do you think would actually be fun to be around personality wise?

I lean heavily towards Io, Nao, and Kaori.
Controversial answer: Sekai. I would give away *almost anything* to be able to have a proper one-on-one conversation with her and learn more about how she truly viewed the world – the glimpse of it that we get through Wakana’s take on her poetry fascinates me to no end.

Plus, Sekai just in general seemed like someone I’d really love to be friends/acquaintances with – aside from, y’know, her wizard inclinations and all that, but, hell, nobody’s perfect.

And smh it's connected with Ay after Aomori.

Again color reference: Ay's hairpin = Zeus Temple, Flaming Flamingo=iMaya - I think this has been known for a long time, but I didn’t find any discussion of color theory, and the fact that Green Path color is similar to Demeter Green who highly seeks her daughter Persephone.
Twelve smiles in NiB and LiL are like 12 Olympian Gods.

The color of this Ami's necklace is What's Left that leads to Maya at the beach under the three moons.

Headless Makoto in TSS

Most of this, if not all, has long been cleared up from the story itself. And yet looks like in this game definitely 'everything is connected': patterns, colors, and even weirdly-specific numbers. The latter though I just don't know how.

Depends what you mean, really.

If you mean "fun to be around" like who would I get along with then probably Maya, Otoha, Yuki and Osako. I share some interests with all of them and like their personalities, and I'm pretty quiet which they'd all not mind. Probably Yasu too since she's very earnest and her brand of craziness wouldn't really phase me.

If you mean fun as in "woo, fun" then probably Touka 'cos she'd be fun to tease or Chinami 'cos she's a little gremlin who makes me laugh a lot. Rin too, she's my brand of goofy.

Nodoka is one of my favorite characters simply for the way Selebus writes her dialogue. He uses her in such interesting ways, and this line, I mean wow. That is a banger of a line, and the depth behind it is amazing!

Mini breakdown:

Now, I may be putting more nuance behind this than Selebus actually intended...but after the events of 0.53, Haruka being the worse version of herself, Maki's condemnations...I don't think I am.

I think Selebus is preparing for a real series of events with consequences, and fallout.

Dann f95 ate the post I was working on. tl:dr of it was the gods operating the USER accounts of terminal 23 are unrelated to their rank within the wishing well. HOPE starts the story as a regular god and then ascends to a peerless one who seems to have admin level access like the users without needing to be a user. Pareidolia also shows that just because you have admin control over the terminal doesn't mean you have any standing in the company during or afterward.

If so if you go to the first page one of the links is to the puzzle guide with all the answers for all the puzzles

Atlantic Sadness Symposium?
I think it has been already established what ASS stands for:

Also guys don't jump to conclusions too much yet, I know the event titles suggest something sinister, but it might be more of a nothingburger at the end. Remember that every main and side character is supposed to get a purity route, so I don't see how someone's suicide would fit in there, unless it's quickly reverted through the next reset. So either way, I don't think it's realistic to assume a character will be simply written off permanently in the middle of the story, unless Sel is a lying little piss boy.

Also in terms of who I would best get along with from the cast:

I mean, it's not like the purity routes are pegged as Sensei dating everyone monogamously one after the other. Sel described the purity routes as being an "alternate telling" of the story and we don't know in what shape or form they'll be implemented.

I'm not expecting Maki to die right now either, personally, but I don't really see a reason to assume that if she (or anyone) does die permanently she won't have a purity route.

I mean, I get it, and you might be right. But I just don't see it. Assuming a character, in this case Maki, were to die permanently, and that the purity routes are only introduced, as planned, after the dark route which is still to come, it would mean that a Maki purity route would still be a year or two away, if not more.
I can't imagine a scenario that would make heaps of sense where Maki is reintroduced somehow to receive such an ending after she killed herself.

Hima-chan: "Oh btw Dad, remember Makoto's mom who killed herself from guilt caused mostly by your actions? I created a wish world where you fall in love with each other and fuck all the time and you leave Makoto alone you sick freak and everyone is happy. You're welcome."

That would feel tonally incredibly wrong. Obviously there might be a way to still implement it somehow, but I feel like killing off a character at this stage of the story would make it very difficult. There would be a need to resolve the conflict first, which would be difficult if the person is fucking dead.

As far as interesting writing scenarios go, Maki attempting suicide would be very interesting. We've already seen someone try it and the world changed around them to undo it, that person (Makoto) would be able to see what it looked like from the outside this time, and this is exactly what Makoto wanted to happen with pushing the limits of the simulation (She even suggested confessing to Maki as an example)

I doubt there will be a permanent death until dark route, and even that will only last until end of dark route.
