I am with you. For me, Maki's decision in this update isn't exactly something out of the blue; her reluctance, self-doubt, inabilities, guilt, etc. Collectively it makes just enough sense so that Akira lives to see another day. But, like you said, all those could've been articulated much, much better by doing this from Maki's POV. Giving her just one more event full of her monologues to indicate just how many struggles she has in her would be great.
(would love a scene where she goes back to the shop and continues to cry her eyes out, while vandalizing all the dildos in the shop in a fit of helplessness and self-hate)

And I ask for that not only because I would otherwise not be able to fully comprehend Maki's decision/indecision. Since Selly isn't doing these revelations only by the end of harem phase, every supposed penultimate almost all gets forcibly turned into mere "now what?". Situations that should absolutely make a character inaccessible forever at the bare minimum quickly shrink into temporary hiccups. With this setup, I humbly ask for just a few additional Maki scenes with just her and her internal torment after talking to Akira so that I can at least get some kind of peace of mind, knowing how zero-effort Akira dodged yet another bullet but actually only just barely. It's always by some unfortunate miracle, and not always by Selly's 4th wall-breaking mercy that thinks it's still too early for shit to hit the fan full throttle.

With that being said, however, I hope this pattern does not repeat when it is Imani's turn because 1) this gets old very quickly, and 2) there is no way Imani would let same miracle happen.

You got what I feel in its entirety. There is so much depth to be had in some of the situations Selebus creates and yet we're limited to a very rarely and slowly changing Akira's pov (at the speed of one snail pushing two snails up a hill).

How amazing would be to see the scene you described? For Maki to actually break not only in how it relates to Akira, but blaming herself for influencing a Makoto that would let herself be taken by a predator. Hell, make her redirect hate towards Masahiro for making her this way, and yet still looking like a hero to Makoto. How unfair would that be in her eyes during a crashout?

I'd be way more interested in that POV than skipping Akira's monologues, which has become routine by now.
