Is there a (more or less complete) story plot?
(I'm sorry I didn't read all this thread, I just recently found this game, and I would like to help it to be finished.)
I think that the first step for finishing "Lexi" would be to write the story, or at least to outline it.
Then it could be possible to flesh it out with dialogs, and then adding any suitable renders would progress it.
So what do you think about this:
(You could be surprized how much can be done this way; some large software platforms like Firefox, many GitHub projects etc. were done mainly by volunteer cooperation. As for the quality of the story, don't be pessimistic, guys. Collective mind can be surprizingly powerful sometimes.)
There are free wiki platforms, including private teams; so it requires ZERO investments.
I personally am not interested in profiting from this; just helping to see it done one day is good enough for me. And I see no problem if some other guys use my contribution for commercial gain.
So, side problems aside, what do you think about this first step?
(Discuss and develop the story.)
(It totally wouldn't contradict other plans like creation of proper dev studio.)

- Create a wiki where volunteers like myself could develop and discuss the story?
