Is anyone working on a translation? Will it be in German at some point? Or could someone explain to me how to translate the game? So without dialogues.
No. You can use the translation button within the game to translate the actual textlines. All scene dialogues was written in english and all mods too. Also game has no localisation options, from this hardcoded elements remain english. You could translate thousands of lines within lp files under modules folder manually if you really want to do.

a real shame. It is absolutely inconvenient to use the translator in the game. It would be a lot of help to me if the clickable elements were translated. and is it just too complicated for that? Or I'll ask, where can I find the files for these elements? everything in the module folder?

Sry, but I don't feel that way. LifePlay is a free opensource game (not a commercial one) what made by one man dev (who was from Britain btw). So why would it be expected to be translated into several languages?
But everyone has the opportunity to modify and expand it, and if you will, you can translate the dialogues within the files under the modules, including mods what you put there. Also you can find the documentation about modding under docs folder. All other elements like the GUI elements, buttons, tooltips, etc is hardcoded and remain as it is.
(A little problem can occur if a game or a mod gets an update you should translate that before you use. This is the main reason why nobody wrote a translated version until now.)

Unfortunately when game devs dont use the industry standard style Localization system, its very hard to translate anything. and in this case there is also an entire sub level of mods as well and the modders arent using Localization either (it would probably be difficult to convince them to do so LOL)

Translating this game right now would first of all require going to the actual source code and manually changing everything (or creating localization system to replace it?)

Maybe someone someday will have the interest but I think i wouldnt hold my breath on this one until some mod team really makes an updated fork / overhaul

its amazing that the autotranslators even exist. cant even count how many games I never would have got to play with them. ive manually translated some old RPGmaker games by hand before, ive done CC for movies before too. Let me tell you.. that is not a fun process. and it takes FORever. lol

but i say, if you want something bad enough, make the time to figure out how to get it ;)

-----

separate note, does anyone know if this game actually keeps track of days or like what day it is or what the player's birthday is etc ??

thank you guys for the words. I'll see if I can translate anything myself. I just have to search through all the files until I find the right one. As I said, I would only translate the clickable and selectable things.

The player's birthday is treated as Jan 1.

So... here's a question.

I have a host of NPCs that I've added to the game, but they're all IN my contact list, meaning I won't ever just kind of meet them randomly and introduce myself and so on. Is there some way to add NPCs to a game such that they'll be part of the population of the town, but not in my contact list until I actually meet them?

You can Block them in contacts in which they are Permanent, meaning they still exist.
And there are a few scenes where you can meet npcs and reintroduce your self to them and sometime interact.
And if Npcs have a relationship with another Npcs there are scenes for that too.
But most scene focus on npcs you have a contact with.

This game is great, too bad it died.
I don't know why devs with 'controversial' content still seem to think that Patreon surely won't shut them down. They have made it very clear for years now that they don't allow any sort of incest content, it doesn't matter how well you try to hide it; someone will snitch eventually. If you want to pander to those fetishes you need to take your funding source elsewhere.

It's still on Patreon. Dev just hasn't been around.

Yeah Patreon didn't shut anything down, it was more a case of Vinfamy just vanished one day and didn't tell anyone anything and hasn't bothered to refund all the people that have been paying for the past few years who have not received any sort of content, he's been very happy to just sit back and let people pay him to do absolutely nothing which is why i have taken over and am planning to fix all the bugs and then potentially port it to a newer version of Unreal like he originally promised
