I'll start with the bad news; there were still so many placeholders left in the new Elis/Fields content that I didn't feel comfortable presenting the new maps to you just yet.

I set the bar *so god damn low*, and somehow we still exceeded my expectations.

So basically, if I'm reading this right, our fearless dev... fix a few bugs? Contributors added some stuff, that's cool. But even after being three months late, ontop of the previous like, 8 months of pretend, we still didn't get the basic content for the new maps written out. But because the placeholders are in the game, in the game but disabled completely, we're going to pretend that this is the 4.0 update.

Have you ever seen a company release a major version change where all the new additions for that version were disabled?

Me either.

She should have just released it. At least I wouldn't tear apart all the writing if the writing wasn't even included.

Oh, and comments on the blog are still disabled. That's just cowardice.

Edit: After thinking about this for 15 minutes while brushing my teeth and whatnot, I'm just going to call it what it is. This is a lazy cash grab.

Put out 4.0 with no new content, probably hoping that it'll boost subs while buying some time to finish the thing you're a year behind on.
Tell everyone that every other update will be locked behind the sub.
Oh wait, the next update is going to be the one that enables the content that was supposed to be added in the major version release, but wasn't!
I guess the 4.0 content is going to be out in a month or two, but only if you pay!

And that's assuming she actually finishes the content for the next update, which all evidence is saying won't happen. What she's really done is bought herself another few months of stalling. All while pushing people to sub for content that isn't coming. I bet she'll take another month off due to the stress of this once the summer really gets rolling and its nice out.

This is Not Inno's patch. Its DSG's patch and even the Discord admits it.

At least we're on the right track. So long as she keeps working on the Fields and delivering it, then I guess that's as much as I can hope for. But I have to echo the sentiment; 2 years of "next update will be the one" and this is what we get... flat out disappointing. I sincerely hope this whole situation never happens again and that we can finally move on to greener pastures (pun intended).

On the other hand... yay more art!

I forget, which file stores your encyclopedia entries?

It's stored in two places:
Each save file found in the data\saves folder, and properties.xml in the data folder.

The encyclopedia discovery list in the properties.xml file is used when you have "Shared Encyclopedia" turned on in the Content Options (Misc) section.

The patch in question changes, but the wait for new content continues.

So it's finally 0.4, but without any of the 0.4 content - not even placeholders this time. Esentially a 0.3.21, only arbitrarily named 0.4.0 to appease the community I guess.

So at what point is Innoxia stop credited as the creator and the community is given credit as creators? I feel like 80% of actual updates is pretty much done by modders at this point, with DSG being the MVP.

I was, but it turns out that having your Workstation dual boot as Gaming Station isn't good for productivity.

Sort of like having a bookshelf full of novels right next to your home office desk. Far to easy to get distracted.

You can copy the data folder over. It contains your saves and the properties.xml file.

Probably not, 'lie' suggests Inno was intentionally out to deceive, and I really doubt that was the case.

Blogspot has zero moderation tools, so when people post ad-hominems and other off-topic things that I can't repost here because it would be a ToS violation there's zero recourse. It's a total waste to try and cull all that and it's a miracle that spambots never found the place. Conspiracies or not, it's better if someone else does the moderation.

Meta stuff aside, I have to walk back what I said about "no new items". I will try to avoid item dumps for the sake of item dumps. If, for example, a new character needs an outfit for some reason, say a lack of access to modern clothing, I will add some in limited quantities.

And fuck man, do what you want. Me ranting about the game doesn't mean you shouldn't mod in whatever the fuck you feel like. Besides, apparently if you're not writing content no one will be. I don't know if you noticed, but the last major version change and content update was 100% your content. Inno should be paying you and AceXP for this shit.

The inventory system in the game is garbage that I previously thought was a placeholder that'd get replaced, but it's becoming clear that its never going to change. It's already fucked and more items won't make it more fucked.
