AAA quality games are Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, God of War, Forza Series, Final Fantasies, etc.

AA quality games are like Elden Ring (negotiable AAA possibly), Baulders Gate 3, Mafia, etc.

From there the scale really takes some sharp twists and turns for studios.

Part of growing as a team and a project involves a certain degree of self awareness. That's certainly improving. I apologize if anybody thought this game was going to rival God of War.

What you're ultimately looking at is either wanting to support or like the direction of the game where you know what the goals of the game are vs nebulous content and direction, or if you decide you don't.

If you do, please feel free to stick around. If you want to support it, go for it, there are multiple channels to do that. Or don't. The choice is yours.

If you don't, we get it... the game ate your homework and your day is ruined and your hopes and dreams are forever dashed. Please go find another furry porn game that meets your expectations and hang around there. :)

I don't think anybody wants to continue justifying the past, but we are eager to talk about the present and future of the game. :)

I don't believe anybody can stop anybody from continuing to endlessly complain forever into eternity here... but it's a pretty well beaten dead horse at this point. I'm not sure what else you can say about it. I hope all qualms have been addressed and you're either satisfied or realize that there's no more blood to squeeze from the stone.

Looking forward to new discussions! Have a good day. :)

Well, it's kinda sad that you bring up good arguments that speak for this game (I mean it) in your posts and then drop stuff like that in your posts as sidenotes. The moment I read parts like that, I'd love to physically attack something because it's fucking disrespectful to people who made it possible that there is even a project right now.

For an old backer of the project, this sounds like: "aww, common. Yes! We scammed everyone... shut up about it already, it is old news, jump on the hype train now, go cry somewhere else!"

I apologize.

Not my intention to be at all insulting. I'm trying to acknowledge that people, like you, feel genuinely upset and there is nothing I can do to change the past.

I can say that the team is learning, still engaged, and making clear goals while defining what they want the game to ultimately become.

This is everywhere in the current communications.

I'm genuinely sorry all around that people feel remotely betrayed or scammed. I would love for you to enjoy the improved direction and communication, but if you can't get past the history of events I understand 100%.

I'm sorry.

That, for me, is a sign that the attitude and communication is getting better for this project, thanks a lot. Sounds sentimental, but it really means something to me.

I won't sub on Patreon again only because of this :), but I will give this game a fair chance for redemption, all needed to do is deliver now. Contend on a steady note would be a good beginning. ;)

The plan is to deliver a release every two months, for better or worse. You'll see the development, the progress, the pleasure and pain-- but you'll get it and there won't be another year long blackout period.

At this point, it's up to the team to prove to everybody what they can or can't do. Let them prove it to you by making these deliveries and making their video game.

You have summed up their argument perfectly

For Vlad being the leader, he understands where his strengths and weaknesses are, and is moving for improvement across the board. Being a leader is very important, containing the overall vision, keeping people motivated, having the project goals and mission first and foremost. In a very short period of time, the amount of scope cut away from the game has, in fact, been very tremendous. Some examples:

- Full open world -> map based navigation
- Huge cities -> cities are maps with points of interest you can visit
- Many many screens -> reducing visual content to the more important facets
- 8-directional charger moment -> 4-directional character movement
- 8-directions characters can interact -> 1-direction characters can interact
I may not have any experience in game development, but I prefer there being someone with enough experience in this team to have the power required in order to veto any future decision/idea made within the group which is as ridiculously time consuming and unnecessary as the uncut ones mentioned above.

An example would be the decision to make it 3D, which had already been receiving backlash from people since it got mentioned, and the group at that time still pushed it and went through with it. Which ultimately ended up with it being cancelled, another remake having to be planned, and nobody happy. This postponed development for an entire year.

Another would be the 8-directional movement, which I take wasn't really a popular idea, that took [insert time and effort required] to make happen, was still put into development, ended up either too much a hassle or not generally accepted at all, and resulted in it getting scrapped afterwards. This happened just recently and with a new team composition, I assume? So nothing has really changed?

The effort put into features such as those which ultimately became a partial(if not complete) waste of time could and should have been speculated by at least someone in the group, if not only the public. Not to mention a waste of backers' time, money, and patience.

If this keeps going on, I'd say that the quality of future updates, if any, and if not being delayed, would still suffer. More on this topic, stuff like those cuts mentioned should have been upgrades to the game when there is time and resources (which aren't at the one-sided expense of people's money and patience), and not downgrades in the first place. Those arrows should've been pointing the other way around... Wouldn't it look like so much more of a promising project that way?

Whoever is making these decisions is clearly not a "Tony Stark" but sure acts like one

Staning i warned you, i told you so, it seems i was right. Which first saddened me a little, because i thought "Well, here is someone who really wants to try, even if its hard", but reading the last few things my empathy sunk. Do what you want, sad it turned out to be the same with you in the end.
I’m not sure what you’re referring to in all honesty. But I’m sorry for disappointing you.

Edit: I went through my last few comments and I’m going to guess you’re referring to the sarcastic ones. And calling Chopolander Tony Montana. But please let me know.

Happy Friday Everyone!

I’d like to thank the sock account dotlomu78 for adding their input. Moving on XD

Welcome to the end of January. It’s been an interesting month for reasons I really didn’t expect. For example the lack of any teasers, updates, or patreon posts has been disappointing. Honestly thanks to Arimouse the followers here have had more information and interaction than on any other platform.

And because of that I’ve really been searching for what to do. And it looks like the answer is nothing. As always if you wanted a layman’s perspective than I’m always happy to chat candidly.

So that’s my update for y’all. Sorry but there’s nothing I can really say. I look forward to coming back when things finally start to normalize.

Yes the TLDR is “The update posts that were on hiatus updated you that the update posts will continue to be on hiatus”

I hope everyone has been staying safe and enjoying their 2022. Keep building towards bigger and better. All love everybody! Peace and Stay Strong

Yeah, when a person doesn't know how to polemicise their values, they tend to resort to things like that...
For the Record. it’s because you love to boast about how much people don’t like you. It’s a good joke. And congrats for owning a readers digest! ;)

And now January 21st 2022 will be remembered as the great :] controversy. Get over yourselves lol. Someone decided to use a sock account and take shots. It’s like y’all are afraid they’re gonna show back up. In the words of Aaron Rodgers “ R E L A X”.

I’ll continue to wait patiently for Sharun to respond. And if they don’t… I feel more than comfortable about everything I’ve posted here.

So, glad to see that this is being worked on, very interested in it, but a few problems:
-This game is seriously burning my video card. I'll grant that it's not the latest model but it's running harder and hotter than 2016 Doom (and while the graphics are good, they're not as complex).
-It keeps putting my computer in lock mode. Like, Windows goes to a loading screen that says "locking" and then went to a black screen until I forced a shutdown.
-Program keeps making requests to go past my firewall in ways that my firewall doesn't like. Like, downloading and installing the launcher, fine. Opening the launcher and downloading the game, fine. Opening the game, fine despite the request to send a signal out being blocked. While I trust you guys wouldn't try to pull something stupid, I've always regretted alloweing a request my firewall has blocked like this (if I didn't immediately see why it was blocked).

I've tried closing everything but the program, and it gets me a few more minutes before it does that. I've already got the card as cooled and clean as is reasonable to do (again, can run games like Doom and the Deus Ex sequels just fine).

Again, I seriously do want to believe you guys are not trying to sneak crypto miners on us or something, but I think there's some other problems that could give someone that mistaken impression if not fixed. I have noticed that this doesn't happen on the launcher-less version from the first post, just the launcher version. I suspect that's where the problem is coming from. Will try loading the game without the launcher to see if that makes a difference.

EDIT:
Ok, found the file that the launcher loads. While running the game that was did eventually crash again:
-Video card ran about as loud as running GZDoom (that is to say, the bare minimum loudness needed to notice a difference without actively paying attention).
-Game crashed when I was doing something that I could see causing a problem in an alpha version of a game (whereas previously, it'd lock up after being open long enough) More specifically, I was highlighting an exit to read its message while running toward a different one.
-Game crash did not result in lock mode but just turned my computer off

I'll try fiddling with the settings some other time and see if crashes continue, need to turn in for now.

Response from Ron on the Discord

“So, there was a gpu usage problem on an old version of the game (i believe it's 0.0.3 - 0.0.4 now), but i'm almost certain i've fixed it on 0.1.0+ as I was also getting the GPU usage problem.

The firewall thing would be related to the launcher as it has to communicate with the server to pull its contents and also download the game, beyond that there shouldn't be anything his firewall would complain about.

The crashing definitely alludes me, but it sounds like it must be related to the game overusing/overheating his gpu. I hope we can figure this out because from what I could tell the extreme gpu usage was fixed. If you can get him to send me any more info that'd help a lot including: LoK game version, OS, and pc specs.”

If you’re in the LOK discord please get a hold of Ron with the LOK game version, OS, and PCSpecs. If not please send that info to me and I’ll pass that along.

If you have problems, please hop onto the discord and hit up some of the channels there.

One big misunderstanding with 2D vs 3D games is that in a lot of cases a 2D game can be far more demanding on a video card, specifically in the memory department. This is one of the reasons why, for example, people don't just make 1080p 2D games with tons of full screen animations, etc.

A lot of devs can make 2D games by going with pixel graphics, then you're not being quite as demanding on a video card.

Another advantage of 3D games is that textures can be more dynamic, especially with mip mapping that can help control load. Also you can use a lot more compression that your engine can also handle itself before offloading to the GPU.

You can't really use many of these tricks with a 2D game because your compression techniques make all your graphics look terrible, etc.

Most cards can handle these needs, but it really varies a lot.

How much memory does your video card have, Abyssimus? If I had to guess I'd wager that's probably your biggest culprit here- but I could be wrong! :)
