RNG is the bread and butter of this. The entire point of the game, building relationships, is based off talking points you may or may not get doing banal actions over and over. And the neanderthal MC can't hold more than a few talking point because his brain just doesn't function right, I guess? Just because it's was a small thing, doesn't mean it's not the majority of the game. If I have to repeat interactions just to possibly get another talking point to get another possible talking point to further the interactions, that's completely player unfriendly. It's time wasting for the sake of time wasting.
There is no RNG. R stands for Random. There's only 3 actions in the entire game that have rendom results and those fairly insignificant. Watching TV, scrolling through videos, and livestreams. Everything else in the game is consistent, and follows very specific patterns. Topics are granted based off a point system where you might get 5, 10, 15, or 20 points towards a new topic when performing a certain action, and those points are always granted the same amount. at 20 points a new topic is granted. If it takes you 4 jogs to get the "going on a jog" topic, it will take you 4 jogs to get the next one as well. No RNG. Once again, your making assumptions.
As for saving IF NOTHING ELSE at 12am there should be an auto save. It's ridiculous to call someone entitled because I felt my time was wasted after your game crashes, and I lose however much play time from it.
Until recently, (last update) the save engine I was using, was so slow that if there was an auto save, you'd be complainging about the autosave slowing down the game, rather than there being a lack of one. That being said, I will probably impliment an auto save in the future, but not until I finish all the data refactoring I have planned, because I want to make sure the auto-save has as little impact on the player as possible. Still, the only reason I will be adding an auto save is for crash recovery.
And way back v8 or 9 I did learn how to navigate this game. And even knowing how to get to all the events and focusing on whatever scene, I felt my time wasted because Lo and Behold, the repeatable events are lackluster and barely reflect the current archetype or relationship of the characters outside of Charlie and maybe Gina.
That's an opinion, which is fine. I'm sure there's plenty of people who would agree with you, but I know there's plenty of people who would disagree with you as well.
There are a LOT of things I like about this game, the progression, the changing of characters, even actually having to do something. But when it is so bogged down by repetition that would make the lovechild of runescape and WoW blush it's ridiculous. Grinding out conversation topics that MC magically forgets, to conversations we don't even hear and are three emojis long, is painful. Communication isn't a resource to be managed. If nothing else, you're a pioneer in that regard, somehow. And I wouldn't be able to say any of this if I HAVEN'T put too many hours into this. I criticize renpy porn slop much more than I'm doing for this.
We can agree on that. There's a lot badly rendered slop on this site.
So don't assume I'm here because CTRL doesn't get me to the end.
And yet you make assumptions about my intentions as the developer.
But sandboxes made specifically to drag out and waste your time for no other reason than "Derr 30 hours means gud gaem" are the reason why so many people are put off by them.
...huh...perhaps it's better if you'd keep your assumptions to yourself as well.
I'm here because every transition is slow and makes me worried the game crashed again. I'm here because once a year when this game comes back around I try to give it a fair shake, only to have to relearn the game and waste the same amount of time to get back to where I was. Because the mechanics are a slog and less than engaging or memorable. I'm here because I've actually almost liked what you put out DESPITE you not caring about my time with the "gameplay" if you call it that. So please, attack me more because your game feels bloated from Unity and is a bigger time sink than counting grains of sand on a windy day.
There were a lot of bugs previously, for sure. I've since pretty much rebuilt the whole game to fix said crashes. But let's be clear. I don't attack people, I defend against false claims, and I don't feel the need to civil in my defense. RNG? That's a false claim. Excessive Bugs and Crashes in previous versions...Yep, those happened. I've been working on them. Janky UI. Yep. I've been working on it. Claiming my intentions as a developer. That's a false claim. I'm not introducing new things that are difficult or slow to grind. Almost every new system/feature I add to the game, is either thematic in nature(such Tilley getting jealous at parties), or accelerates some type of resource gain(such as selling spycam footage online for money, and topics).
